Chapter 208: 208
I had wanted to directly expose Liu Chao’s hypocrisy and make Wang Xinru give up on him completely.
But then I thought, she believes I’m blind. If I said anything, wouldn’t I give myself away?
Plus, I was with Liu Qingxue at the ti, and Liu Chao must have seen us.
Now is not the ti to let Wang Xinru know about my relationship with Liu Qingxue. I can hardly imagine what she would do if she found out.
Nevertheless, I still decided to subtly remind her.
I absolutely could not let that bastard Liu Chao get off easily.
However, when I returned to the gym to find her, I was inford that Wang Xinru had taken a leave of absence.
“Sister Lu, do you know what she’s gone to do?” I asked curiously.
“I’m not exactly sure, but it seems her husband got beaten up or sothing. He’s been admitted to the hospital, and it’s quite serious,” Liang Lu said thoughtfully.
Hearing this, I was startled.
Liu Chao got beaten up?
Wasn’t he just in a hotel room with another woman?
How did he end up in the hospital?
As much as I dislike the guy, I am living in his house after all. I had to maintain face and make the necessary gestures.
So, I took out my phone and called Wang Xinru.
“Sister Xinru, I heard Brother Chao got beaten up? What happened? Is it serious?” I feigned concern.
“It’s not too serious, at least the doctor said there’s no major problem.”
Wang Xinru’s voice ca through the phone, choking up.
“Which hospital are you guys at? I’ll co over now,” I said.
“Mm, I’ll have my mom pick you up.”
After she said that, she hung up the phone.
After waiting for about ten minutes, Aunt Wu indeed ca to pick up.
Upon arriving at the hospital room, the first thing I saw was Liu Chao lying on the hospital bed, his head wrapped in bandages and his arm in a cast, and Wang Xinru, her eyes slightly red.
“Little Tian, mom.”
Seeing us, Wang Xinru greeted us.
I briefly assessed Liu Chao’s condition. It seed he had been beaten up. While not critical, it still looked quite painful.
But the key issue was, how did he end up like this?
Was it related to that woman?
“Xinru, what happened? How did Ah-Chao get beaten up like this?”
Just as I was wondering, Aunt Wu approached and asked softly.
“Mom, stay here and keep watch.” Then she gave a deep look, “Little Tian, co with to buy so things.”
I nodded and followed her out of the hospital room.
Once outside, she imdiately threw herself into my arms, clinging to and sobbing uncontrollably.
“Wuwu, Little Tian, I was so scared. I have no idea who Liu Chao offended to get beaten up like this. His arm is fractured, and they even stitched his head. I thought he… was going to die.”
“But thankfully, there’s no danger to his life. The doctor said he should be able to leave the hospital and recover at ho in about half a month.”
“It’s okay now, it’s all over, don’t be afraid.”
I gently stroked her back. Truth be told, I wasn’t soone who knew how to comfort others, so this was the only thing I could do for her.
After she had cald down a bit, I tentatively asked, “Sister Xinru, do you know where and who beat up Brother Chao?”
“It was at the entrance of a hotel, I think. Liu Chao said he was talking business with a client when suddenly a group of thugs rushed over and started hitting him.”
“Didn’t you report it to the police?” I continued to ask.
“No, Liu Chao said that if we called the police, those guys would keep bothering him, so he chose to keep things quiet,” Wang Xinru said, still sobbing.
After hearing her explanation, I couldn’t help but snicker inwardly.
I pretty much knew what had happened.
Whatever he said about business was nonsense.
I bet that the people who beat him up were called in by that woman’s husband.
It was a good thing he wasn’t caught in the act of adultery; otherwise, he might have been beaten to death.
Following that, I accompanied Wang Xinru to buy so daily necessities and consoled her so more before heading back to the hospital room.
Since Liu Chao needed care, the mature and composed Aunt Wu stayed, and Wang Xinru wouldn’t return until late at night, so I took a cab back ho first.
