Test? What test?
Shiraha frowned. He knew well enough that his Limitless spell—his technique of boundless stopping force—was dangerously broken, but it still seed absurd that Yamamoto Genryūsai, the Commander-General himself, would co in person.
"I'm not very clear on the details," Kyoraku Shunsui said, tugging the brim of his hat with a sly grin. "But don't worry. It won't be life-threatening."
The twinkle in Shunsui's eyes betrayed him. He clearly knew more than he was letting on. Shiraha exhaled through his nose, smiled faintly, and said, "Fine. I'll wait for the Captain-Commander here. Whatever trial he intends, I'll know soon enough."
Inside his mind, the system prompt stirred.

Within its reach, 0.2 seconds of exposure implants a year of aningless information into the enemy's brain, paralyzing them. Duration depends on the foe's willpower. Usable three tis per day.
Power rippled through Shiraha as the new level locked in. His Reiatsu surged. His body pulsed with new force, and with it ca the ability of Reversal—He. Where Cang pulled, He repelled, a vast and brutal push covering whole kiloters.
"So, the Gojo template's daily task is complete," Shiraha thought. Ten years had passed in this world, each year nudging the progress forward by a single percent. From thirty-nine, it had now ticked to forty.
"And Infinite Void has reached its interdiate stage… that's unexpected," he murmured to himself. Its paralysis, once limited to half a year's worth of false mories, now stretched to a full year. A captain-level opponent like Urahara Kisuke could be locked down for two seconds if caught in its web. Three uses per day still felt stingy, but the trade-off was staggering.
Nearby, Renji blinked in disbelief. "Kira, is it true? The Captain-Commander himself is coming to see Shiraha?"
Even as Vice-Captain of the Sixth, Renji had barely seen Yamamoto Genryūsai up close. For him to co personally to greet soone returning from the world of the living… it was unprecedented.
Kira Izuru gave a solemn nod. "Didn't Captain Kyoraku just say? This is a test. We should simply wait and watch."
Their words fell still as the spiritual pressure arrived before the man himself. Yamamoto Genryūsai appeared with his lieutenant, Chōjirō Sasakibe, and behind them ca nearly every captain of the Thirteen Court Guard Squads. Only Kurotsuchi Mayuri of the Twelfth had declined to co. Even Aizen and Gin stood among them, their faces unreadable.
"Captain." Original content can be found at noⅴelfire
"Old man Yama."
"Teacher Yamamoto."
Voices rose in greeting.
"Well, long ti no see, Captain Shiraha. Welco back." Gin smiled foxlike, hands tucked in his sleeves.
"It's been a while, Captain Ichimaru," Shiraha replied lightly.
"I hear from Captain Kyoraku that your Shikai is sothing terrifying indeed. No wonder you managed to kill that Vasto Lorde-class nos Grande ten years ago," Gin added, voice dripping with feigned awe.
"Just coincidence," Shiraha said with a faint smile, though inwardly he thought of Grimmjow, whom Aizen himself had sent against him.
Unohana Retsu stepped forward with serene grace. "Welco ho, Shiraha. We have missed you."
"Captain Unohana, please, you're teasing ," Shiraha said, smiling faintly. "Though… why are so many captains gathered here today?"
He had expected Yamamoto and Sasakibe at most. Yet here stood nearly the entire Gotei 13.
"They all wish to witness your Shikai with their own eyes," Unohana said softly.
Ten years ago, when Shunsui had reported to the Captain-Commander what transpired in the living world, the claim of Shiraha's Shikai had left most captains doubtful. Today, they had co to see it proven.
The wooden staff in Yamamoto's hand cracked sharply against the ground. His gaze burned. "Kuchiki Shiraha, captain of the Seventh Division. Your exile has ended. From this day forward, you return to your post. Sasakibe will assist you as vice-captain. Report to Seireitei."
Then his eyes sharpened. "Captain Shiraha. Shunsui has spoken of your Shikai. Tell —have you truly mastered it?"
"Yes, Captain-Commander," Shiraha said evenly.
"Then let this old man judge it with his own eyes," Yamamoto answered.
"I humbly ask for your instruction," Shiraha replied, bowing slightly. His Limitless spell was absolute. As long as poison wasn't involved, even Yamamoto's Bankai didn't frighten him.
Yamamoto's hand gripped the wooden cane. His Reiatsu crushed the false exterior to dust, revealing the blade within—a Zanpakutō with a violet hilt.
"Everyone, stand back!" Shunsui barked.
The captains leapt away, retreating thousands of ters with Shunpo. The air cleared, leaving only two figures on the battlefield.
Yamamoto lifted the sword high. His voice was thunder.
"Everything is ashes—Ryūjin Jakka!"
