Shiraha's Observation Haki swept across the ruined district, every detail of the scene laid bare to his mind. He stepped forward, right hand outstretched, palm hovering toward the massive teorite—its diater easily exceeding one hundred ters—suspended before him.
As his hand moved closer, the already slow descent of the teorite ground to a crawl, until it appeared frozen in midair.
"So this is the incantation's 'Power of Stopping'… fascinating." His voice was low, thoughtful.
In essence, the no-lower-limit technique from the Gojo Satoru template—mantra: Power of Stop—was less a technique than a law. In nature, it was akin to Inoue Orihi's Santen Kesshun, but instead of rejection, it imposed an inviolable halt.
With a smooth motion, Shiraha drew the blade from his hip, the steel flashing. One decisive stroke split the teorite into a cascade of fragnts, shards raining to the fractured ground below.
"The force behind this really is… considerable." His Observation Haki mapped the devastation. A single teorite, pulled from tens of thousands of kiloters above, had leveled everything within a full kiloter radius. The abandoned building that once stood above his subterranean position was nothing more than debris.
If he had chosen a teorite a thousand ters in diater instead… Karakura Town itself might have been erased. Worse, he could call down more than one at once—dozens, if his stamina allowed.
He was considering that very thought when Urahara Kisuke, Yoruichi, Hirako Shinji, and the others appeared before him.
"Shiraha, what's going on here?" Kisuke's voice was light, but his eyes, half-hidden by the brim of his hat, were sharp. The ever-present paper fan twitched idly in his hand.
Yoruichi vaulted onto his shoulder, golden eyes narrowing. "That teorite that fell just now over Karakura… tell you weren't the one who brought it down."
Only monts before, Shinji and the others had been escorting the wounded Muguruma Kensei to Kisuke for treatnt when they'd felt the crushing spiritual pressure of a massive object materializing above the town. They hadn't reached it in ti. The impact flattened everything within a kiloter of the abandoned building they'd been using as a base.
Luckily, it had long been empty of residents. If not, Rukongai's wandering souls would have grown by tens of thousands in an instant.
Shinji's gaze was equal parts curious and wary.
"That's right," Shiraha admitted with a small smile. "I awakened my Shikai while fighting Senior Love just now."
The truth was simpler—gravity manipulation on this scale was an extension of his Fujitora abilities, dressed up as Zanpakutō power. To others, it was an easy explanation.
Yoruichi tilted her head. "So you're telling … you didn't use Shikai at all when you fought Kensei?"
Her suspicion had already been circling that thought, but hearing it confird only deepened her shock. Shiraha had defeated a forr Ninth Division Captain who'd unleashed both Bankai and Hollowfication—and had even gone into an out-of-control state—without resorting to Shikai.
"Correct. I only just realized it now," he said, his smile not fading.
Hiyori jabbed a finger toward Hirako. "Hey, baldy, you think you could beat Hollow-rampaging Kensei without Hollow powers of your own?"
Shinji shook his head without hesitation. "Not a chance. Even with Hollowfication, it'd be tricky."
Ōtoribashi Rōjūrō rested a hand on Love Aikawa's shoulder, his voice tinged with disbelief. "The captains after you in Squad Seven… are they all this strong?"
Love's laugh was humorless. "Not back then. If we'd had soone like Shiraha, I'd never have worn the haori."
"Your Zanpakutō ability is frightening, Shiraha," Kisuke said, eyes narrowing as he hid his expression behind the fan.
"You flatter , Urahara-san," Shiraha replied lightly.
"Still… don't use that Shikai in the city again. It's too destructive—you could wipe out hundreds of thousands of innocents in one blow." Kisuke's voice was calm, but there was steel in it.
"Don't worry. I know my limits," Shiraha assured him.
"Oh—by the way, Tessai's finished preparing your quarters. Go take a look."
Shiraha inclined his head. "Thank you, Urahara-san. Yoruichi, let's go." One Shunpo later, the two vanished from sight.
Shinji's voice rang out as Kisuke turned to leave. "Not so fast! Shiraha-kun's staying with you, and he just destroyed our base. You're compensating us."
The rest of the Visoreds closed ranks, hemming him in.
"Why didn't you ask him for paynt while he was here?" Kisuke protested.
"You brought him here, so you're responsible. Pay up, or you're not leaving," Shinji said flatly.
Sowhere in the depths of the basent, Kisuke's voice could be heard wailing, "Shiraha, I hate you!"
The days that followed were calm. Shiraha settled into the Urahara Shōten, passing ti with tea and conversation, occasionally teasing Yoruichi in her cat form, or training in the vast underground space. The chamber was over sixty thousand square ters by his Haki's asurent, layered in Tessai's barrier spells.
One afternoon, Kisuke raised his hands in mock defeat. "Let's not spar again. Your Shikai's downright unfair."
The mont was interrupted by Tessai's urgent call from above. "Shopkeeper! Mr. Shiraha! Ten nos Grande have appeared in Naruki City… and one of them has an Arrancar's spiritual pressure!"
