Black Myth: Starting from the Destined One Chapter 45 - 45 41 Question Question and Question Again
Chapter 45: Chapter 41: Question, Question, and Question Again Chapter 45: Chapter 41: Question, Question, and Question Again That is to say, the police had locked down the hotel for as long as these guests had stayed, and the situation remained unresolved.
It was bad enough that pressure was coming from above, but these guests were also constantly applying pressure.
Since Silver Dragon Tower was the only six-star hotel in the city, its guests were either rich or influential, including several council mbers. If the delay continued, these police officers were bound to lose their jobs sooner or later.
Yet, this wasn’t even their biggest concern. What worried them most was that if they couldn’t withstand the pressure and released those locked up, the news of the hauntings in the Silver Dragon Tower would spread, inevitably causing public panic and unimaginable consequences.
The police and the guests were both on the verge of collapse, with no one knowing how long they could keep this up or what the point of it all was!
“What’s the situation with that person?”
Huang Yi’an suddenly noticed a guest in the banquet hall had fainted, causing quite a stir, and quickly inquired through the walkie-talkie.
“Captain, it’s nothing serious. The person just fainted!”
“How did they faint?”
“Scared themselves, I guess. Over the past few days, the knocking sounds have been gradually spreading from the guest rooms to the banquet hall, and these guests suspect it’s almost reached the banquet hall!”
“Alright, wake that person up quickly!”
After speaking into the walkie-talkie, Huang Yi’an fiercely stubbed out his cigarette in the ashtray and cursed angrily:
“Damn it, looks like we’re about to lose our last safe area, the banquet hall!”
“Captain, what if that thing makes it to the banquet hall, what should we do?”
A young officer nearby quietly asked.
“How the fuck would I know what to do? We’ve tried everything, from summoning monks from temples, Taoists from Taoist temples, to so-called masters, but what good has it done? At exactly midnight, the knocking still occurs, and people still die!”
“Captain, that councilman is getting more and more irritable and insists on breaking out. How should we handle it?”
“Stop asking !”
Huang Yi’an closed his eyes and furiously massaged his temples:
“I’m tired, just end it already!”
“Captain!”
Suddenly, soone pushed open the door outside the monitoring room and shouted inside.
Huang Yi’an looked helplessly towards the door, responding irritably:
“What the fuck now?”
“Captain, your cousin wants to see you!”
“What? Why is she here again?”
Huang Yi’an was sowhat angry. This case originally belonged to Wanyan ngwen’s precinct, but since people kept dying here and Wanyan ngwen was a young woman fresh out of police academy, they had kept her off the case.
“If she’s here to bring supper, tell her to leave quickly. Who the fuck can even eat right now!”
The officer outside continued to report:
“Captain, she isn’t here to bring supper. She says she brought a real, Living Immortal to help us solve the case!”
“Isn’t this just clutching at straws? Haven’t all the so-called famous Living Immortals in the city been summoned here already? What good did that do? Tell her to just—”
Huang Yi’an cut off his cursing abruptly, suddenly thinking of sothing.
His cousin was a bona fide police academy graduate, not lacking in education, capabilities, or insights compared to seasoned officers.
If she dared to bring soone along, then she must have thoroughly investigated. Otherwise, she wouldn’t bother coming over in the middle of the night just to get scolded.
Huang Yi’an was an atheist; he simply didn’t believe in these so-called accomplished monks, Daoist priests, or Jianghu masters.
However, desperate tis called for desperate asures. Whether the supposed Living Immortal Wanyan ngwen had brought had any real ability didn’t matter—he was Huang Yi’an’s only lifeline now.
With a “dead horse as a live horse doctor” mindset, clinging to his last hope, he couldn’t miss out, just in case… just in case the damn thing worked.
“I’ll go et her myself. You all do your jobs properly, make sure nothing goes wrong, and report back promptly if anything happens!”
Huang Yi’an, anxious and restless, ran non-stop toward the entrance of Silver Dragon Tower.
“Cousin, where’s the person you spoke of?”
At the entrance of Silver Dragon Tower, an agitated Huang Yi’an ca out only to see his cousin and her private car—there was no sign of the supposed Living Immortal.
“Wanyan, you aren’t playing tricks on , are you? What’s the deal at this ti, are you still in the mood to joke with ?”
“Who’s joking!”
Wanyan ngwen quickly pointed behind the private car:
“He just finished dinner and is changing his clothes in there.”
As Li Ping’an approached, he gazed at the ever-closer Silver Dragon Tower and pondered what the fierce ghost might look like and how formidable it could be.
He now possessed Divine Skills: Secluded Cave and Expel Spirits, which were entirely capable of dealing with ghosts. However, up until then, he had never encountered a fierce ghost nor fought with one.
Fearing death, Li Ping’an decided, for safety’s sake, to take out his Four-Piece Hundred Plays set from the storage gourd as advised by Wanyan ngwen:
Hundred Plays Wrist Guards, Hundred Plays Breastplate, Hundred Plays Iron Greaves.
The reason he didn’t take out the Hundred Plays Steel Rod was that he felt it was overkill; after all, this weapon had slain the Demon King of Dog Head Peak. How could a low-level fierce ghost deserve the sa weapon that had killed the Human-Headed Dog Demon? It was really using a sledgehamr to crack a nut!
“Big Sister Wanyan, sorry to keep you waiting!”
Li Ping’an pushed open the car door and walked over calmly.
“You…”
Wanyan ngwen stared in surprise at Li Ping’an’s old-fashioned gear:
“Where did you get that stuff you’re wearing? I didn’t see it earlier!”
“Kid, are you cosplaying? That ancient armor really looks intimidating, and it has a high ani vibe. You’re into Hanfu, right? But we are police, not an ani club, this place is dangerous, not a comic convention!”
Huang Yi’an only took one glance at Li Ping’an and imdiately his anger flared up. He pulled Wanyan ngwen aside and whispered fiercely:
“Wanyan ngwen! Are you insane? This is the Living Immortal you spoke of? Look at him, he’s hardly nineteen. If he’s older than nineteen, I’ll livestream myself eating shit standing on my head. You bring a kid to this kind of place; do you want even more people to die?”
Wanyan ngwen smiled awkwardly and quickly started to explain:
“Cousin, don’t get so worked up…”
“How many tis have I said to refer to by my official title at work!”
“Alright, Officer Huang!”
“Getting clever with , are you? Ca here specifically to ss with , right?”
“Oh cousin, this college student really does have so genuine skills!”
“Damn! I knew it, a college student! Even if you had brought soone to appraise treasures, I wouldn’t have scolded you, but this? Leave now! Get lost!”
“Don’t believe , huh? Take a look at this!”
As Huang Yi’an was rushing her, she fumbled with her phone, swiped a few tis, and opened a pre-downloaded short video, pressing play for Huang Yi’an to see.
