Chapter 98: The Unruly Daughter of the Mayor (Part One)

The barista, Hu, at the café, drove Shangguan Ning to Family Mu’s Hospital.
When the chief nurse in charge told Mu Qing that Shangguan Ning was here and needed assistance, he abandoned Ji Lili, his current patient. Ji Lili was the daughter of the Mayor, who had co to the hospital for a check-up. Mu Qing dashed towards the ergency section without further delay.
Shangguan Ning was as important as a national treasure. He had to see what was wrong with her even if the heavens were falling.
Shangguan Ning chuckled between pain when she saw how worked up Mu Qing was. “Doctor Mu, sorry to bother you again.”– she said.
Mu Qing was startled at the sight of her face. He said angrily, “What happened to your face? Who did this? Is he still alive? If he is, let
know, I will chop him dead.”
He quickly took so ointnt on a cotton swab and gently applied it on her face. Her face stung with pain. Her teeth were clenched shut but she didn’t utter a sound. The doctor couldn’t help but admire her resilience.
He comforted her, saying, “Don’t worry. You will be fine soon. Your face will be just like it always was, in a couple of days. Complete recovery would need several days though. I’m prescribing an ointnt for you. It works better than others and may cause pain. If I were you, I would tolerate it. The affected area on your face is too large for
to be able to use an anesthetic.”
Although this dicine was extrely effective, it did cause a lot of discomfort, upon application. Many patients would cry in pain but not her.
Shangguan Ning didn’t complain one bit. Mu Qing had new found respect for her, seeing her tolerance level.
He wasn’t sure where Jing Yichen had found this treasure from. Mu Qing had never heard of her before.
He felt lucky that Jing Yichen hadn’t accompanied Shangguan Ning to the hospital, otherwise Yichen would tornt him for making Shangguan Ning go through so much agony.
Whoever it was, that had done this to Shangguan Ning’s face, did not know what terrible fate awaited him. That is, if the person was still alive. He couldn’t help but shake his head at the thought.
He brought Shangguan Ning to the Intensive Care Unit and applied another layer of ointnt to reduce the swelling on her face. He also told her that in order to avoid getting an infection, she would have to visit the hospital everyday. He would change her dressing daily.
Shangguan Ning thanked the doctor and was about to leave when the doctor noticed the young man who drove Shangguan Ning to the hospital and stood by her side.
Shangguan Ning instantly made a brief introduction. “This is the barista at my café, Hu. He drove
here today. Hu, this is Doctor Mu. You can visit him whenever you need dical assistance, though I pray you never do. He is an extrely able doctor. You will be in good hands.”
They both acknowledged each other with a smile and a polite nod of the head.
Mu Qing was an outgoing man who seed to be hospitable to everyone and had t enough people to know why Hu kept staring at Ning. It didn’t need a smart man to tell that Hu was in love with Shangguan Ning.
Mu Qing rolled his eyes and said to Hu with gratitude, “Thank you for getting my brother’s wife to the hospital in ti, Hu. She is fine now. You can get back to work. My brother will co and fetch her later.”
Hu was taken aback. Did he hear right? Did the doctor say – brother’s wife?
Shangguan Ning was married?
Of course, a beautiful woman with such an attractive charisma couldn’t be single!
Masking his disappointnt and sadness, he exchanged pleasantries with Mu Qing reluctantly and left the hospital.
Seeing him leave, Mu Qing pursed his lips and mumbled, “Young man, how can you even hope to get Shangguan Ning? She is out of your league. She is Master Jing’s woman. If he ever gets to know of your feelings, you would need to leave A city, forget the café!”
He packed so bottles of dicine and carefully made a prescription. He then handed them to Shangguan Ning. “Take these bottles ho and take your dicines according to my prescription. I’m reiterating. Don’t skip visiting the hospital everyday. I need to change your dressing daily.”
Shangguan Ning took the pack from him and thanked him profusely. Mu Qing asked Shangguan Ning casually, “Sister, have you seen Anan recently?”
Shangguan Ning didn’t think before she replied subconsciously, “Didn’t she go abroad for dical treatnt?”
Imdiately she realised that sothing was amiss.
Zhao Anan had lived abroad for two months. Which disease was she suffering from that she needed to visit a foreign hospital? Both Mu Qing and his grandpa were so good at dical care already!
Why didn’t she allow them to treat her?
Maybe even they couldn’t cure her.
Shangguan Ning wondered if Zhao Anan had so physical disability. She had seen her drink bitter Chinese dicine, when she was teaching at the school.
Shangguan Ning had known Zhao Anan for many years. She looked normal and had shown no incapability when they played tennis together. When asked why she was under dication, she said that it was her mother who forced her to drink Chinese concoctions, despite being perfectly healthy. Therefore, Shangguan Ning had never thought that it could be sothing serious.
“Doctor Mu, do you know what’s wrong with Anan?” Shangguan Ning asked. She felt her mouth go dry with nervousness. She feared what Mu Qing would say.
Zhao Anan was one of her closest friends. She needed to be fine.
Mu Qing smiled at her and cald her down. “She isn’t sick. I just asked generally. Don’t overthink. I guess she’ll be back very soon. I thought she would’ve already returned, which is why I asked you.”
Shangguan Ning relaxed, seeing his positive deanour. “She can stay as long as she needs to, as long as she is fine. She has been away for two months, and she has barely contacted . I myself have been too busy to check on her. I presud the worst, when you asked about her. I’m sorry if I asked you too many questions. I didn’t an to pry.”
Mu Qing laughed and said cheerfully, “Don’t worry about that tomboy. She is such a tough nut that she will outlive us all.”
He was smiling outwardly, but in his heart he knew that Zhao Anan wasn’t alright. She had been abroad for far too long. Sothing must be seriously wrong with her to warrant that.
Since Zhao Anan had not said anything to Shangguan Ning, he wouldn’t say anything either. It wasn’t his place to tell her. Besides, what good would it do to have one more person worry about her well being.
They were in the midst of a conversation, when soone pushed open the door of the ward, disrespectfully.
Shangguan Ning looked up, only to find that it was Ji Lili, whom she hadn’t seen for a long ti.
A nurse stepped in imdiately after Ji Lili. She embarrassingly explained to Mu Qing, “Doctor Mu, I tried but I couldn’t stop Ms.Ji...”
Actually, she didn’t dare to stop this hot-tempered daughter of the Mayor anymore. She had tried to stop her twice before, but Ji Lili slapped her across her face.
Mu Qing, of course, was aware of Ji Lili’s temper tantrums. His expressions changed from cheerful to livid, instantly.
