Chapter 460: Present (Part One)
December 27th was Jing Yichen and Shangguan Ning’s first wedding anniversary and Jing Yichen’s birthday as well.
In the morning when Jing Yichen woke up, Shangguan Ning leaned down and kissed his chin. “Happy Birthday, my husband!”
A bright smile hovered over Jing Yichen’s handso face. “Thank you, my wife.”
The winter chill was blocked outside the window, but the gentle sunshine pierced through the window and cast its bright hue and warmth in the room.
Jing Yichen didn’t take Shangguan Ning out to eat.
Instead, he drove her to the supermarket, bought the freshest vegetables and fruits as well as fish and shrimps, then returned ho to cook for her.
Shangguan Ning had already booked the birthday cake the day before and it was delivered to their ho in the afternoon.
Shangguan Ning carried the cake into the dining room cheerfully and then ran to the kitchen to watch Jing Yichen cooking.
She preferred to eat at ho rather than outside.
Compared to any chef from any restaurant, Jing Yichen always exceeded them all.
Also, it was such a joy to watch Jing Yichen cooking.
He had such a handso face and was so skillful that Shangguan Ning found him to be the best chef in the world!
This chef happened to be her husband. She felt herself so blessed.
Soon, delicious scent spread in the kitchen, making Shangguan Ning feel really hungry after a bout of the morning sickness.
Because of her pregnancy, Shangguan Ning was getting increasingly hungry. She often started feeling hungry before it was ti for food.
The fragrance of the food made Shangguan Ning drool. Seeing that, Jing Yichen burst into laughter.
After they finished eating, Shangguan Ning ignited a candle upon the cake and asked Jing Yichen to make a wish.
Jing Yichen had barely celebrated any birthdays or made any wishes till date.
It was the first ti for him to celebrate his birthday after the rite of passage at the age of 18.
Jing Yichen was not accustod to this but he felt that it was indeed how he should spend his birthday.
Early in the morning, Shangguan Ning had also made him long-life noodles. She felt that the birthday man must eat a bowl of long-life noodles.
Thankfully Shangguan Ning could at least cook noodles well. She had spent her single days making noodles and porridge when she lived alone and it was not a difficult thing.
It was a birthday custom that the birthday man should eat noodles for breakfast, cake for lunch and dumplings for dinner.
Jing Yichen had no idea about it.
He was a bit excited and curious to celebrate his birthday with Shangguan Ning.
He didn’t like making wishes. He assud that only the leading actress of soap operas would do such a thing. When he was watching a TV series with Shangguan Ning yesterday and saw the leading actress making the wishe sincerely, he found her behavior hypocritical inside his heart.
Unexpectedly, however, it was his turn today!
You never knew what would happen tomorrow.
At last, Shangguan Ning forced him to make a wish.
“It is our wedding anniversary and your birthday, a double happiness! So, I have got so gifts for you.”
Shangguan Ning passed a docunt to Jing Yichen in a cheerful mood and said happily, “Open it, it is from !”
The phrase of “double happiness” should not be used in this way.
Jing Yichen shook his head and took the docunt which Shangguan Ning gave him.
He opened the file and it turned out to be the share transfer letter of Family Ji’s Enterprise!
And the share was 5%!
It was very difficult to get the shares from Family Ji’s Enterprise, since it had always been in the strict control of the family.
5% might sound little, yet it was worth billions. It was indeed a valuable property.
He was not sure how much work Shangguan Ning had done to get the 5% and for how long she had made preparations for this mont and how much she had given out.
Jing Yichen felt his heart ache. But he was moved at the sa ti. It was the most precious birthday gift he had ever received.
He placed his wife upon his lap and said delightedly, “Thank you, Ning. It is such a precious gift. Next ti, don’t buy the shares yourself. I have ways to make Family Ji collapse. You do not need to do anything.”
Shangguan Ning smiled and said sweetly, “I didn’t do much. I made a deal with Ji Lili by sharing a secret with her and promising to do her a favor. That was why she got
4% of the shares. I got the remaining 1% from an old friend. Since Ji Bo has 20% shares of Jingsheng Enterprise, we should also accumulate so shares of Family Ji’s Enterprise.”
Jing Yichen instantly got serious and said in a very strict tone, “Ning, no taking risk next ti. I want you to live a steady life, and let
fight in the battle of business. You don’t need to get involved. You might get injured. You and the child are the most important people for . With you being safe, I can deal with them with an assured heart.”
He had already heard of Ji Lili before he took over Jingsheng Enterprise.
She was a lady with a very high position in A City and was able to command almost everything and everyone in the city.
She was, however, as notorious and bad tempered as she was famous. Family Ji and Family Jing had been collaborating partners before, and Ji Zhongxiu had even arranged a al for Jing Yichen and Ji Lili so that the two families could have so “friendly talks”!
But of course, Jing Yichen didn’t attend the lunch. For one thing, he had never eaten alone with an opposite sex person and for the other, he looked down upon the dumb lady like Ji Lili who was proud because of the family.
Ji Lili had combined forces with Huang Xinyi to set a trap for Shangguan Ning not too long ago in the past, and Jing Yichen didn’t want Shangguan Ning to deal with Ji Lili!
Shangguan Ning seed to understand what Jing Yichen was thinking. She pursed her lips. “I am not that weak. I want to join the fight too. Ji Lili is the most vulnerable mber of that household and I got an advantageous deal for us. Just wait and see. There will be sothing interesting happening at Family Ji in the coming days. I still rember what they did to
the last ti.”
Jing Yichen couldn’t bla her. He understood that she must have done a great deal to get this present for him.
He took hold of Shangguan Ning’s hands and said in a gentle and spoiling tone, “Okay, I get it. My wife is the most excellent one and I will wait eagerly to see what happens.”
Jing Yichen knew that Shangguan Ning was smart, but she was just not so good at insidious plans.
She had spent so many efforts in preparing the gift. Thankfully, he had prepared his gift tily as well, otherwise he would have been put into the shadow by his woman.
