The command deck was bathed in ergency crimson.

Outside the reinforced windows, the horizon cracked with early morning light—but the tension inside the Offshore Sigma facility was thick like storm clouds. On every screen, the red-lit outline of the HERA-series unit falling from orbit lood closer.

Ren sat propped on a dical recliner, barely conscious. Sweat clung to his forehead, his chest wrapped in nano-gel dressings, the Arc Reactor still dimly glowing blue, stabilized but fragile.

Lucia’s voice crackled through the deck:

"Target ETA: 28 minutes. Hostile pattern confird. Synthetic payload contains infiltration drone swarm and unknown core AI."

Aoi stood before the suit chamber, staring at the sleek backup exo-fra designed months ago—never tested, never ant to be used this soon.

A suit made for her.

The Suit ant for Her

The armor wasn’t flashy like Ren’s Mark 85. It was sleeker, silver-white with soft gold trim, a compact spinal reactor, and reinforced shielding around the core. He called it "Aether Blossom."

Ren had once said while designing it:

"This isn’t a weapon. It’s a shield... For you. For our daughter."

Aoi turned to him now, her eyes clear, her voice steady despite the storm brewing in her chest.

"Let go."

Ren coughed, trying to sit up. "No... no, you can’t. Aoi, it’s—"

"I have to. You can barely breathe, Ren," she said, voice rising just enough to stop him. "Lucia can guide . And this ti, I won’t just be protected—I’ll protect you and Hikari too."

He looked at her, stunned. His gyaru wife... the girl who once snuck into his college lab just to tease him, now standing like a soldier before a war.

"Lucia," Aoi called, stepping toward the platform. "Activate the Aether Blossom protocol."

"Command confird. Syncing neural pattern and preparing spinal interface."

The chamber hissed open, and light illuminated Aoi’s face. She stepped in.

Ren clenched his jaw. "You don’t have to prove anything..."

She smiled softly. "I’m not proving. I’m protecting."

Suit Deploynt: Aether Blossom

Panels sealed around her torso with a smooth hum. The spinal connection latched into place along her back, syncing heartbeat and brainwave signals. Her visor flickered to life, displaying Lucia’s interface and threat readouts.

"Pilot vitals stable. Combat familiarity: 72%. Reaction ti: above average. You are cleared, Aoi."

"Let’s take the sky."

The launch platform opened slowly, wind whipping through her hair. Aoi looked back at Ren one last ti.

He whispered, voice raw: "Co back to . Both of you."

She smiled, fingers brushing the edge of the reactor necklace on her neck.

"Always."

End Scene

The sound of turbines scread to life as the Aether Blossom suit ignited. Aoi shot skyward, breaking through the morning clouds with a streak of light. Her destination: the fast-descending HERA drop unit.

And in the silence that followed, Ren sat there—watching, breathless, in awe and fear—as the woman he loved beca the very shield he once built.
