Bitcoin Billionaire: I Regressed to Invest in the First Bitcoin! Chapter 286: Sending Invitations (1)
He implented this idea imdiately. In fact, he started the very next day!
The morning sun climbed over Los Alverez, casting long shadows through the city’s glass towers. Through the roads of this city, Darren’s workers were moving to separate locations, discreetly dropping off the various invitations for all the won.
Rachel got hers on the top of her desk when she arrived at work that morning. She was still thinking about her conversation with Darren yesterday. It had left her raw but hopeful, and even happy that she didn’t have to be angry at him anymore.
She found the letter laying there after she had picked her files and attempted to leave the office. When she opened it, she saw it was an invitation.
From Darren.
Rachel’s heart skipped with excitent for a mont, a joyful relief that Darren still held her in his mind.
But her excitent led her to search for details of this eting. What was it going to be like? Was it a date? Or just a way to apologize? Was he inviting her for a contract signing?
Since she had control of Darren’s schedules as his planner, she was able to enter his weekly plans in her computer. June 3rd was marked.
That was the date for the eting. Just 5 days from now.
When she tapped it, she saw that other invitations had also been sent out. That would have answered her earlier question; maybe he was inviting her to a contract signing, finally letting her in on things again.
But there were way too many invites for a normal contract signing.
The date listed nas: Rachel Teschmacher, Kara DeAndre, Sandy yers, Alia Forrest. Well, those weren’t surprising nas. They could be included in the eting since they were part of the company’s head team.
But it didn’t stop there!
Olivia Sinclair ca next. Then Cheyenne L. Bordeaux, Penelope Castle, Miranda Sloane, Daisy Chen, Tamara Johnstone, and... Ileana Popescu.
Rachel’s stomach twisted as she read the list of nas, her own na just one of many. She recognized all of them. But what she couldn’t get was why Darren would invite them all to a private dinner on a rooftop. All expenses paid.
Her hand shook as she clicked the attachnt— a nu with personalized notes. Next to Penelope’s na: Preferred food options, her dad’s favorite flavors. Next to Cheyenne: Vintage Bordeaux, her personal label.
There was even a note on Rachel: Standard seafood platter, no allergies.
With a huff of annoyed breath, she closed her laptop and got up from her seat. Her mind raced with questions.
’What the hell was Darren thinking?’
’What is he doing?!’
Amongst all the won that were invited for this impromptu eting, Rachel was the only one who knew the true reason for it.
For Kara, she didn’t care. Darren had invited her to a night out for the first ti in months. She was happy with it. Elated even.
She was lounged in her cluttered IT office, her boots propped on a desk littered with energy drink cans and circuit boards. Her laptop screen glowed with lines of code while she fumbled with the envelope in her hand.
"What are you up to now, Boss?" she muttered to herself. "Last ti we went out together was the casino just before we took down Red Fang."
She took her legs down and leaned forward on the table. "So excited that you’re finally seeing my worth and taking out again."
She got up, thinking of what to wear. "Hopefully we could have sex!"
-----
While Kara’s enthusiasm was skyrocketing, Olivia Sinclair was doing sothing else. She was preparing to pitch a partnership.
With Horizon Strategies, Tamara’s company.
She stood in the sleek lobby of Johnstone Tech, the subsidiary of Horizon that dealt with technology. Her brown skirt moved softly with her profound hips as she got closer to the door, once she got there, she stopped for a breather.
After capturing her first dia start-up to incubate, Olive Run Capital, Olivia’s company still needed more allies. And even with Darren by her side, Horizon Strategies was still a great ally to have.
Speaking of Darren, he had been distant lately. They had not spoken much after their kiss or attempt at one in the back of the limousine. She had been hoping the ti shared together would rekindle sothing, but now she had no idea where she stood.
Tamara greeted her warmly when she got in, her smile polished as they sat in a glass-walled conference room. "Olivia, I hear you’re the genius behind Darren Steele’s dia rebrand. If that’s the case, then I’m certainly excited to work with you. I love my partnership with Darren, so if he trusts you, then I do too."
"You’re acting like we weren’t classmates, Tammie. But thank you," Olivia said.
Tamara’s tone was casual, but her eyes sparkled with sothing Olivia couldn’t place.
In fact, she could place it to be truthful. Tamara clearly admired Darren. In a way that started to look like a crush. Olivia saw it because she felt the sa way too.
Olivia’s legs were crossed tightly, her designer heels tapping softly against the marble floor of Tamara’s office.
She barely noticed when her secretary stepped in, heel clicks swift and professional, and slid a sealed envelope into her hand with a whisper: "From Mr. Steele."
She blinked, straightened, and carefully broke the seal. Inside was thick cream cardstock, embossed in sharp black ink. An invitation for a rooftop dinner, signed with Darren’s na.
Her breath caught. Of all the tis to hear from him... now. She was thinking about him a second ago. Her fingers lingered on the card. A pause. A silent war in her chest. And then, a small smile. Thoughtful. Wary. Hopeful.
Then her eyes drifted to Tamara, who was looking at the envelope with curiosity, like she recognized it.
Olivia’s throat tightened. "Tamara, when did you last et with Darren?" she asked, keeping her voice steady.
Tamara smiled, snapping from her thoughts. "Oh, last week. He’s quite the charr. Invited to a private dinner to discuss... opportunities." Her tone suggested more than business, and Olivia’s stomach churned.
"Opportunities," Olivia echoed, forcing a smile. She excused herself to the restroom, where she checked the letter again.
’I thought it was only his secretary that was in the way,’ her thoughts spoke as she stared at the mirror. ’Is sothing going on with him and Tamara as well?’
After a mont of regaining herself, Olivia straightened, her jaw set. She wasn’t giving up yet. She was going for that rooftop date.
