The next morning, Lin Rui used the AI terminal to call for a shared winged car, which stopped right at their ho’s doorstep.
For safety’s sake, the car Lin Rui called for was still the luxury business model.
Just the night before, Lin Rui had heard the sound of motorcycle engines roaring outside the community more than once.
Lin Rui didn’t know if those were Blood Lizard Gang mbers, but he couldn’t rule out the possibility, given that the security in the Ninth Base had never been good. After all, this was an era where individual combat capabilities were off the charts. The governnt of the Ninth Base could barely ensure the common people could live and work in peace, so Lin Rui had to be a bit cautious.
Lin Xi obediently carried a few bags of luggage and got into the luxury business winged car with Lin Rui.

“Of course I agreed,” she said.
Lin Xi was in a bad mood. She felt unwilling and said glumly, “We’re now depending on others for our needs, not to ntion that they helped us so much yesterday. How could we possibly refuse at this ti? Besides, Miss Erald’s offer is quite generous. I talked to her last night; she is truly sincere.”
Lin Xi was actually quite excited, because if she transferred to Mingde Alien Body College, she wouldn’t have to be a burden to her brother.
In the future, her scholarships and body augntations would no longer pose problems, which would save the family a great deal of money.

Lin Rui also noticed that these people had Blood Lizard Gang lizard tattoos on their necks and arms.
This made him frown, as his return to Tianji Star had been incessant with troubles; as soon as one wave settled, another arose.
“Passengers, please be aware! Ambola has detected a total of 14 secondary threats and 5 tertiary threats outside the vehicle, with 12 individuals having serious criminal records. Ambola has activated the security protection system and reported to the nearby police station. Please ensure your personal safety,” announced the voice of Ambola, the AI system of the car sharing company.
Lin Rui reassuringly patted Lin Xi’s hand, while his eyes coldly surveyed the scene outside, “Don’t worry, the business car has bulletproof capabilities, and its autonomous driving is of the highest grade. Everything will be fine once we get out of the East City viaduct.”
But he had underestimated the recklessness of the Blood Lizard Gang, who went as far as to attack the winged car they were riding on the highway.
Vehicles on the highway began to notice that sothing was off. So decreased their speed to keep their distance, while others stomped on the gas to accelerate away from the scene.
However, so cars sped up to follow, with their occupants eagerly shooting videos in the direction of the business winged car.
At that mont, a man wearing black sunglasses, his mouth full of gold teeth, let loose a piercing laugh on the left side of the business winged car.
He opened a temporary combat group chat set up specifically for this ‘hunt’ to send a ssage.
“Brothers, start your action, prepare the rockets. This ti we’re working for our big sister, let’s make it clean and swift!”
“Understood! Those two little brats dare to cross us at the Blood Lizard Gang, we’ll crush them!”
“Where are Jack’s vehicles, have they arrived?”
“No need, we can handle him.”
“Rocket launcher is ready! United and bold, daring to act!”
“Loyal and righteous, sharing glory and disgrace, united and bold, daring to act!”
And at that instant, Lin Rui sucked in a breath of cold air with a ‘hiss’, thinking that the gangs of this era were insanely explosive.
Through the electronic rearview mirror, he saw that behind them, three people each hoisted a single-soldier rocket launcher.
Those were likely not standard military munitions, but homade rockets. Their construction was quite rough, looking as if they were fashioned out of water pipes; however, their power was not to be underestimated.
Once launched, the rockets could even change direction in flight to track their target.
Luckily, the luxury business vehicle they were in had an exceptionally strong self-driving system. Through skillful and agile maneuvering, it avoided all three rockets which, after exploding in midair, resulted in the formation of an energy shield around the vehicle’s exterior, protecting it against the rocket explosions’ shockwaves and shrapnel.
Lin Rui’s expression grew even more solemn as he saw two dark-armored winged cars, illegally modified, rging onto their route from a nearby ramp and overtaking them from the front.
The motorcycle riders each brandished firearms, continuously shooting at their winged vehicle, with sustained fire hitting both the energy shield and the vehicle.
“Brother!” Lin Xi’s face turned pale.
The two modified winged cars had already blocked the road ahead, working in concert with the hovering motorcycles to force their ride-share winged car to change its course.
Lin Xi felt both regret and anger in her heart, regret for her montary loss of control that brought such trouble upon them, and anger at the audacity of this Blood Lizard Gang, unaware that near her right hand, the void was subtly distorting.
Lin Rui, however, did not panic but laughed, “Ambola, open the sunroof for !”
“Guest, you are currently in an ergency situation. Malicious individuals are attempting to endanger your life, opening the sunroof may lead to severe consequences——”
Lin Rui didn’t wait for the electronic voice to finish, he emphasized, “I am aware of the consequences, open the sunroof imdiately!”
Following his command, the vehicle’s roof window slowly opened up.
Lin Rui then unbuckled his seat belt, “Ambola, once I’m out, you must close the sunroof imdiately. I’m the main passenger, that’s my order. Lin Xi, wait for inside the car, be good and obey, don’t try to be brave!”
When he said this last sentence, his voice intensified, stern and forceful.
At that very mont, like a spring, Lin Rui’s figure leaped out of the sunroof.
The Blood Lizard Gang riders outside were first stunned upon seeing this, then burst into harsh laughter, with a few drawing their handguns and aiming at Lin Rui.
“Ha, this guy’s got guts! He actually dared to co out?”
“He’s got shit for brains, the idiot.”
“Yo-ho, just watch, I’m gonna blow his head off!”
“Shoot! Shoot!”
Lin Rui, expressionless, stepped on the roof of the business winged car, wrapped in a thunderous flash of electricity, and landed on top of a nearby floating vehicle, chopping down ferociously.
The green-haired rider on this vehicle was designated by the vehicle’s smart-driving system as a level three threat—a captain-class Martial Cultivator enhanced with synthetic serum.
“You’re asking for death!”
The green-haired rider looked up, eyes wide with a cold stare at Lin Rui, unexpectedly counterattacking instead of defending, abruptly pulling out a roughly four-foot-long, third-tier ‘mono-molecular combat knife’ from the motorcycle’s storage and slashing towards Lin Rui.
He found it amusing—this fool on top must not have any implanted energy vessels and yet dared to launch an attack from the car, choosing him imbued with synthetic serum as the first target.
But just as their blades were about to clash, a blood hole suddenly appeared in the center of the green-haired rider’s forehead.
What’s going on?
As this thought barely erged in the green-haired rider’s mind, he lost all consciousness, his swung blade faltered, passing by the falling Lin Rui without contact.
Lin Rui cleanly decapitated his head and grabbed the mono-molecular combat knife, then with a swift kick, pushed the green-haired rider’s corpse off the motorcycle.
He then swung the long blade and took control of the floating motorcycle, steering it to the side.
“Bang!”
With a flash of thunder, blood mist sprayed, and another rider fell from their motorcycle, which, due to engine failure, uncontrollably smashed into the high-speed freeway’s surrounding transparent glass walls, producing a booming echo followed by a glaring burst of fla.
At this mont, streaks of silver filants were whizzing by Lin Rui’s body.
