Wei Long raised an eyebrow. "Why not?"

Xi Na took a deep breath before explaining.

"Our beasts can't grow past the limit of our cultivation."

Wei Long's golden pupils narrowed slightly.

Xi Na continued, her tone calm but filled with an underlying bitterness.

"For example, I am currently in the Temporal Cultivation of the Eighth Stage of Mortality. That ans that if I ever break through to the Awakened Realm… my beasts won't grow along with .

They'll be permanently stuck at their current level which is below Awakened level."

Wei Long's massive tail swayed slightly, his mind processing this information quickly.

"So, that ans…" he muttered.

Xi Na nodded knowingly. "Yes. Natural Temporal Cultivators, like the ones from the Righteous Sects, have it differently. Their beasts grow alongside them. No matter how strong the cultivator becos, their beasts will continue to evolve. But for us, Demonic Path Cultivators… we constantly have to find new monsters to ta, which is not only dangerous but also extrely unpredictable."

Wei Long could see the problem imdiately.

For righteous sect disciples, their beasts would never fall behind.

They would continuously grow, getting stronger in sync with their masters.

But for Demonic Cultivators, their beasts were temporary tools, never truly reliable in the long run. Once they outgrew their beasts, they had to find new ones.

That ant they constantly risked death.

Finding a new beast ant facing the danger of it refusing to be tad.

Sotis, the beast might turn against them and kill them outright before they even had a chance to claim it.

Wei Long tapped his razor-sharp claws against the ground, deep in thought.

"Why can't you just ta the sa beast again?" he asked.

Xi Na let out a bitter chuckle.

"Because once a demonic cultivator loses control over a beast, it becos even fiercer than before."

She t his reptilian gaze, her eyes filled with a knowing look.

"Even if we sohow manage to ta it again, the beast will be harder to control. It might betray us in the middle of battle. It might even kill us the mont we lower our guard. It's a gamble every single ti."

Wei Long nodded slowly, absorbing her explanation.

"I see."

So, that was the fundantal difference between the two paths.

Righteous sects had permanent companions, growing stronger together in harmony.

Demonic path cultivators had temporary beasts, forced to constantly replace them with stronger monsters at every stage of their journey.

It was a cycle of survival, a constant struggle against both man and beast.

Wei Long suddenly grinned, his fangs gleaming under the moonlight.

"Then let's get you a new beast."

Xi Na blinked in surprise, but before she could respond—a sudden rustling in the nearby foliage made both of them snap to attention.

Erging from the bushes, a creature stepped into the open, its eyes glowing with an ancient intelligence.

It had the body of a chicken, but its tail was long and rat-like, extending nearly twice its body length.

At the very tip of its tail was a sharp, oversized spearhead, gleaming ominously under the night sky.

Wei Long's eyes locked onto it instantly.

A beast.

His Bioengineered Toxic Scales shimred as he released a deadly wave of poison, intending to weaken it imdiately.

But—nothing happened.

The creature did not react.

Wei Long's eyes widened slightly in surprise. It's unaffected? Most of the creatures would flinch a little every ti the mist of his toxic scales entered them but this one-

Before he could ponder further, Xi Na gasped audibly, her expression filled with shock.

"That's a Dragorooster!"

Wei Long glanced at her sharply, his curiosity piqued.

"A what?"

Xi Na's gaze remained locked on the creature, her expression filled with awe and disbelief.

She took a deep breath before explaining—Xi Na's voice took on a reverent tone as she began her explanation.

"The Dragorooster is an extrely rare beast. It carries the diluted bloodline of an ancient dragon, making it one of the most prized creatures in the entire Sanctuary of the Autumn Dragon Sect. Even we—tye demonic path cultivators desire it—but for different reasons."

She continued, her voice filled with admiration and caution.

"Long ago, a rogue alchemist sought to create a hybrid beast that could rival the legendary Sky Serpents. He captured hundreds of dragons, experinted on their eggs, and eventually… he created this monstrosity."

"It was ant to be a failure.

A disgrace to the dragon lineage.

But it survived.

And it thrived."

Xi Na's fingers tightened around her sickle as she continued.

"Its tail is one of its deadliest weapons, able to pierce through even the strongest defensive techniques. Its feathers are tougher than steel. And its natural immunity to poison makes it nearly impossible to kill using conventional thods."

Her voice lowered slightly.

"Even the demonic path cultivators have longed to capture one, but none have succeeded. If we can get this beast… it would be an invaluable asset."

Wei Long's eyes glead with interest.

A dragon bloodline.

A rare creature sought after by both righteous and demonic cultivators.

And it was standing right in front of them.

He took a slow step forward, his massive form towering over the Dragorooster.

Then, he asked the one question burning in his mind.

"What if it ets another predator?"

Xi Na's breath caught in her throat as she watched Wei Long step forward, his massive dinosauric form radiating an overwhelming sense of power.

"Eh!!!!—… are you really going to fight that thing?"

She couldn't comprehend his decision—facing a Special Rare Beast like the Dragorooster was a death wish.

It wasn't just about raw power; it was about the natural counters at play.

Wei Long possessed three known abilities:

Bioengineered Toxic Scales – rendering him highly toxic.

Advanced Camouflage – allowing him to blend into his surroundings.

Extre Defense – making his body nearly impervious to damage.

But none of those mattered here. The Dragorooster countered all of them.

It was immune to poison, nullifying his most dangerous ability.

It had sharp senses, making camouflage useless.

And its spear-like tail and bladed feet could likely penetrate even his defenses if given the chance.

And worst of all—

It was Level 12 peak.

Wei Long was only Level 11 near peak.

That ant he could be hard, and if things went wrong—he could die.

Xi Na's eyes widened in realization.

"Wait, Wei Long!" she called out urgently.

But he stopped on his own.

Sothing she said had caught his interest.

Wei Long turned his enormous head, his golden eyes narrowing slightly.

"A Special Rare Beast, you say?"

Xi Na quickly nodded, relieved he was listening.

She took a deep breath before explaining, "Yes, in the beast hierarchy, there are different classes."

Normal Beasts – The weakest of all, possessing only one temporal ability.

Savage Beasts – A step above, possessing two temporal abilities.

Rare Beasts – Even stronger, possessing three temporal abilities.

Special Rare Beasts – The apex class, possessing four temporal abilities.

Xi Na pointed at the Dragorooster, her voice filled with unease.

"That thing… It has four abilities. That ans it's more dangerous than almost anything else in this sanctuary!"

Wei Long went completely silent for a mont.

Then—he laughed.

A deep, guttural, almost terrifying laugh.

It sent shivers down Xi Na's spine.

Her hands instinctively clenched her weapon tighter as she stared at Wei Long's expression—tt was pure excitent.

He finally understood the classification system.

But at the sa ti…

He realized sothing else.

He grinned, revealing his razor-sharp fangs, his massive fra shaking with amusent.

"So, according to what you know, I should be weaker than this thing, right?"

Xi Na froze, her breath hitching.

She had only seen him use three abilities so far.

If Special Rare Beasts had four…

Did that an Wei Long also had four abilities?

Her body trembled slightly at the thought.

A normal person wouldn't think too much about it, but to her… it was terrifying.

Wei Long might not be a re Rare Beast.

He might be a Special Rare Beast himself.

Before she could process her emotions, Wei Long lifted his foot to take another step forward—but then—

"Cock-a-doodle-doo!"

A high-pitched, echoing call suddenly pierced the air.

Wei Long froze mid-step, his eyes widening slightly.

Another "Cock-a-doodle-doo!" followed.

Xi Na's body stiffened instantly.

Her eyes darted around frantically, before she hissed in a hushed tone—

"Wait!!"

Wei Long's gaze snapped to her, annoyance flickering in his expression.

"What now?"

Why was she so insistent on stopping him?

Xi Na swallowed hard, her voice urgent.

"That was a territorial call!"

Wei Long's eyes narrowed.

And just as he was about to ask what that ant—

A second Dragorooster erged from the forest.

Its crimson eyes glead with hostility.

It wasn't looking at them.

It was looking at the first Dragorooster.

Wei Long imdiately understood.

This was a territorial battle.

Both Dragoroosters began circling each other, their predatory gazes locked onto one another.

Their sharp, steel-like claws scraped against the ground, and their spear-tipped tails twitched, poised to strike at any mont.

Xi Na and Wei Long remained completely still, watching as the tension thickened between the two beasts.

Then—they attacked.
