Chapter 831: Chapter 568: Commissioning and Oath Ceremony

After twelve days of training and study, the Linghai Reserve Camp and Binjiang Developnt Zone Reserve Camp finally faced the "big exam."

The assessnt and inspection team was led by a Deputy Division Commander, with mbers primarily from the division’s Military Affairs Departnt and Cadre Departnt, including departnt heads, deputy heads, military affairs staff, and political work officers, totaling nine people.

Vice Mayor Qin personally accompanied them, and almost all the staff from Captain Xia, Political Commissioner Jiao, Chief of Staff Cui, and the military and cadre arms of the regint attended. Not only were active-duty soldiers stationed at the camp gate, but they were also ard, adding to the already tense atmosphere of the camp, which resembled a regular army base.

As the Deputy Political Commissioner of the Binjiang Reserve Group and the First Secretary of the Linghai Reserve Camp, Deputy Mayor Shen could no longer remain hands-off; no matter how busy, he had to attend.

The Binjiang Economic and Technological Developnt Zone Managent Committee also had a deputy director who served as the Deputy Political Commissioner of the Binjiang Reserve Group and the First Secretary of the Binjiang Developnt Zone Reserve Camp. Although he was not involved in day-to-day managent, he had to attend such an important occasion, just like Deputy Mayor Shen.

According to the schedule, today’s assessnt and inspection were divided into two parts.

In the morning, all reserve officers underwent assessnt, followed by rank conferral.

The main event in the afternoon was to check and verify all officers and soldiers of the two camps!

It’s easy to find officers for the reserve forces, but finding soldiers is difficult; even if they are found, gathering them is not easy, as everyone has their own matters to attend to.

However, the inspection team didn’t care about that. They demanded that all the officers and soldiers reported in your materials be present today for verification, with not a single absentee!

Everyone must also bring their identification cards for verification against the roster to check for any impostors temporarily filling in.

In the past twelve days, Han Yu only organized the Water Rescue Team’s training in water rescue skills, while soldiers from other companies, who remained on paper and had never been organized for training, were supposed to be trained in batches by reserve officers after being awarded ranks.

Considering the superior’s inspection, notifications were sent out two days ago for everyone to arrive at the camp by 1:00 PM today.

Notifications for those with work units were sent to their units. Deputy Mayor Shen, through governnt-issued notification docunts, stated that if any reserve soldier from a unit did not co or was late by even five minutes, the unit’s chief executive would be held accountable!

For soldiers without work units, the reserve officers responsible for their enlistnt had to ensure their presence.

For example, several cooks were recruited by Zhang Erxiao from the Four Factory; if they didn’t co or were incomplete in attendance, even if Han Yu didn’t hold them accountable, Xiao Yu would deal with them!

Despite thorough notifications, extending responsibility to units and individuals, there was still no certainty if everyone could attend this first major gathering in the afternoon.

The reserve officers’ assessnt was simple; they just went through a military parade drill, which ended in under an hour, feeling sowhat like a formality.

At ten o’clock sharp, the reserve officers’ rank conferral ceremony was held in the newly constructed dining hall and auditorium.

Starting with camp-level officers, reserve officers whose nas were called lined up in rhythmic, strong, and stirring procession towards the podium, rendering salutes to the leaders and accepting the reserve rank insignia conferred by their superiors.

Although Han Yu was the Deputy Chief of Staff and First Battalion Commander in the regint, he did not lead but followed the political office’s staff’s requirent to be in the first batch on stage.

Because Deputy Division Commander Tao and Vice Mayor Qin were seated in the middle of the podium, Han Yu had to have his rank personally conferred by Deputy Division Commander Tao and have his photograph taken thereafter, thus he had to be positioned in the middle of the procession.

With Deputy Division Commander Tao’s help, he donned the Major’s rank, and seeing "Brother Hao," Liu Degui, Captain Wu, and others who ca on stage with him do so as well, he imdiately called out for a salute.

After saluting the leaders, they turned around with the group, allowing the publicity staff of the regint and journalists from Linghai TV Station, Linghai Daily, and Binjiang Developnt Zone TV Station to shoot photographs.

Although Xiao Yu and other company and platoon-level officers also queued on stage, they only needed to salute, accept their badges with both hands, and then queue to exit from the left side back to their positions.

The rank conferral was swift and concluded in under half an hour.

Next were the leaders’ speeches.

Deputy Division Commander Tao congratulated all newly-conferred reserve officers and introduced the situation of the reserve forces, especially the Jiangnan Army Reserve Division.

He offered encouragent and listed several requirents, hoping the newly appointed reserve officers would further enhance their sense of honor and responsibility, actively contributing to the reserve forces’ developnt.

The ceremony was hosted by Captain Xia, and after Deputy Division Commander Tao finished speaking, he invited Han Yu to represent all reserve officers on stage to express his stance.

Han Yu went on stage once more, saluted the leaders, then saluted the "subordinates" below, and earnestly recited the prepared speech.

The position statent was written by a political work officer on Political Commissioner Jiao’s behalf, perhaps out of concern that Han Yu never served in the military and wouldn’t know what to say. Regardless of the leaders’ thoughts, Han Yu felt pleased, for who would have imagined the day would co when soone would help in writing speeches...

Soon after, Vice Mayor Qin began his speech.

"Comrades, as Deputy Division Commander Tao has just stated, the reserve forces are a vital component of the People’s Liberation Army of China and a focus of national defense reserve force construction. Without strong reserve forces, there is no strong People’s Army, and there is no strong national defense!"

"Currently, with the international and dostic situation undergoing complex and profound changes, the role and position of reserve forces are becoming increasingly prominent. To better advance the developnt of reserve forces and provide robust security assurance for economic developnt, I have three points to make to all of you."
