Chapter 720: Chapter 489: Take You to See the Big Ship!_2

Political Commissioner Wang then called Han Yu, urging him to communicate with the captains of various boats that had co to help, leading them in rehearsal and asking them to rember their positions for the queue later on.

The dia had also arrived, with television crews busily setting up their equipnt, everyone working enthusiastically.

Han Yu unintentionally saw a face so familiar it couldn’t be any more so: Reporter Wang, who always avoided such hustle and never indulged in it, focusing instead on opinion supervision, had surprisingly shown up.

He was about to go over and greet him when he saw Reporter Wang shake his head, so he had to give it up.

Political Commissioner Wang didn’t notice Reporter Wang. Once everything was arranged, he finally felt reassured and pulled Han Yu aside to say, "Salted Fish, the Water Resources Bureau plans to enhance their Water Administration Law Enforcent forces and also intends to commission a new Water Administration Supervision enforcent boat."

"That’s a good thing."

"It is, but they don’t have the right talent."

"Talent can be trained."

"There’ll be a big move in Zhenjiang soon, and Director Tang suspects that whatever they’re planning will only be bigger and not smaller than our efforts in Binjiang! Once they act, their sand dredging boats might run off to our side, leaving no ti for the Water Resources Bureau to train mariti law enforcent personnel."

Han Yu instinctively asked, "Then what should we do?"

Political Commissioner Wang looked back at vessel 001 and said quietly, "Director Liao is considering transferring you over."

"Why would I go there? Aside from my lack of interest in leaving the police force, even if I wanted to quit wearing the uniform, I would only consider joining the Port Supervision or Fishery Administration."

"I know, which is why Director Peng and I suggested he thinks of another solution."

"Did he co up with one?"

"He did; considering their urgent operational needs and to ensure better coordination with us police, they plan to transfer an experienced officer from our side to serve as the deputy head of their Water Administration Supervision Enforcent Team."

"Who do they want to transfer?"

"They have no idea who’s suitable, so they’re asking us for recomndations. They’ve discussed this with Director Chen, and he agrees that we should act quickly."

Han Yu mused, "Sending soone over is doable. They want to get a law enforcent boat, don’t they? Once they’re equipped, we could borrow their boat when we need it."

Political Commissioner Wang smiled and said, "That’s exactly what Director Peng and I were considering. The key question is, who should we transfer?"

"Their team is at Full Departnt Level, and the deputy head position is Deputy Director level. It seems there aren’t many from our side who fit the criteria and who are willing to transfer."

"They said it doesn’t matter if it’s not a Deputy Director post for now; as long as the person transfers, they will work out the administrative level."

"That’ll make things easier!" Han Yu turned to look at Ma Jintao, who had just changed into his police uniform after finishing his work, and asked with a covered smile, "Political Commissioner, what do you think about Ma Jintao?"

Political Commissioner Wang asked in a low voice, "Is he willing to change careers?"

"If we work on his mindset, it should be fine. Moreover, this is an opportunity for him. Unlike us, he started as a contract-based officer before becoming a regular. Had he been in the District County Police Departnt instead of the Water Police Station, he probably wouldn’t even have beco a squad leader, let alone be promoted to Deputy Director."

"In fact, the first person Director Peng and I thought of was Ma Jintao, but his situation is different not only from us but also from other contract-based officers who’ve beco regular."

"What’s different?"

"Think about it. Which unit was he initially placed in?"

"Ohmygod, if you hadn’t ntioned it, Commissioner, I wouldn’t have rembered. He was first placed in the Port Supervision Bureau; he’s their mole planted in our Water Police!"

"Mole, back then it was a matter of necessity."

"I’m joking."

Rembering how the Water Police’s First Company had been established, Han Yu couldn’t help but laugh, "He was arranged to co over by Director Feng, but Director Feng not only transferred away long ago, he’s retired by now. If we don’t ntion it, I guess the Port Supervision Bureau won’t even rember."

Political Commissioner Wang said in a low voice, "I think it’s best to give Director Tang and Director Zhu a heads-up first."

"You and Director Peng can talk to them. It’s not a big deal. Besides, you both know what kind of person Ma Jintao is. He has always considered himself as part of the Water Police, he never thought of going back to the Port Supervision Bureau, there’s no dilemma of divided loyalty."

"We both know that, but Director Peng and I think it’s more appropriate for you to discuss it. After all, it involves the history of the Old Yanjiang Police Station and the ’First Post of the Yangtze River.’ As a primary participant and witness of this glorious history, your words carry more significance than ours."

Political Commissioner Wang took a few deep breaths and then added, "When you speak, you can certainly invite the leaders from the Water Resources Bureau. It would reflect the importance we all attach to this matter and allow Ma Jintao to bring the excellent traditions of the ’First Post of the Yangtze River’ and our Binjiang Water Police to their side!"

The possibility of being promoted to Deputy Director and potentially commanding a law enforcent boat would likely appeal to Ma Jintao.

As family, it’s right to give a leg up.

Finally grasping Political Commissioner Wang’s thoughtful intentions, Han Yu nodded, "I’ll talk to Director Tang, Director Zhu, and it’s not just the Water Resources Bureau’s leaders we need to invite—we should invite Director He, Director Zhou, and Director Zeng as well!"

"Alright, that’s settled. The city leaders are arriving, get ready."

...

At eight thirty, the leaders arrived at the riverside on ti.

Han Yu, Han Xiangning, and the captains of the other three boats stood at the dock as Political Commissioner Wang had instructed, with their respective boats behind them.

Secretary Lu, Mayor Wang, and other leaders, accompanied by several deputy heads of the logistics group, greeted the captain of China’s Fishery Administration vessel 23 first, then boarded the ship accompanied by the leaders of the East Sea District Fishery Bureau for an official visit.
