Chapter 10: Chapter 10: Shijiang is Under My Jurisdiction
"Are we going to catch the scalpers later?"
"Let's check it out first. If we strike, we must eradicate them all in one fell swoop, can't just focus on the trivial and lose sight of what's important."
Clamping down on speculative profiteering, catching ticket touts, it's thrilling.
Han Yu cracked a smile, "Alright."
Xu Sanye is a man of action through and through, after he had his fill of food and drink, he returned to the dormitory to change into casual clothes, and rummaged for a carry-on bag. Pretending to be a traveler with Han Yu, they headed straight for Bailong Port.
Although Bailong Port is an important water transport hub, it is ultimately just a village.
It's bustling with travelers during the day, but sowhat deserted at night.
Because there's only one passenger ship docking at night, the ticket office and waiting hall at the passenger terminal are closed, with just a few people waiting outside to pick up friends and family disembarking the ship, and several people sitting on motorcycles and a few riding tricycles waiting to pick up passengers.
The long-distance bus station not far away has closed, as have a few state-owned shops.
The small shops operated by the villagers are open at night, with a TV set on the counter, and many villagers sitting in the doorway watching TV and cooling off.
Two hostels, with lights on, charge two yuan and fifty cents for a night's stay, but there don't seem to be many guests.
There are also people setting up Chinese chess and billiards in front, with hardly anyone playing.
Xu Sanye sees soone selling ice pops, pushing a bicycle with a large white wooden box tied to the back seat, he walks over and asks, "How much is an ice pop?"
"Ten cents each."
"Weren't they five cents each before, why the price increase?"
"These days, what doesn't get more expensive? Plus, mine are cream-flavored!"
"Give
two."
Xu Sanye pulls out money to buy two ice pops, handing one to Han Yu, tears off the wrapper, and continues strolling while eating.
Having just enjoyed the pork head at he bought, and now munching on his ice pop, Han Yu is feeling sowhat embarrassed, when a woman holding a child approaches and asks, "Comrade, where are you heading?"
"To East Sea, what about it?"
"East Sea's a big place, are you going to Sixteen Piers or to Wusong Mouth?"
"Sixteen Piers."
"Did you get your tickets?"
"Do you have tickets?" Xu Sanye stops in his tracks.
The woman glances back and smiles, "For tomorrow morning's, fifteen each, do you want them?"
"Fifteen each, for which class?"
"Fifth-class cabin."
"That's way too expensive, they're only one yuan and seventy cents at the ticket office!"
"The ticket office charges one yuan and seventy, but you have to actually get them."
"We already did."
"Really or not?"
"Why would I lie to you?"
Xu Sanye does not want to spook the prey, so he continues walking forward with Han Yu.
The woman, holding her child, follows them and persists, "Do you need a hostel? If you go yourself, it's two yuan and fifty cents, but I can take you for only two yuan."
"We've already got a place to stay." Xu Sanye doesn't want the scalper to rember his face and speeds up to lose her.
In less than half an hour of wandering, they've encountered four scalpers.
All selling their tickets at the sa price, the fifth-class cabin tickets to Sixteen Piers Pier are fifteen yuan each.
Xu Sanye is becoming more convinced that there's sothing worth investigating. On the way back, he asks in a low voice, "Salted Fish, did you rember the faces of those touts we just saw? Could you recognize them if you saw them again?"
"I rember the second one; he had a mole on his chin." Han Yu subconsciously looks back.
"That won't do. In the future, you need to observe closely, rember the features of the suspects. Once the boat is fixed, and when we have ti, I'll teach you how to handle a case."
"Alright, thank you, Director Xu."
"No need to thank . Co on, I'll take you sowhere."
"Where to?"
"You'll know when we get there."
Xu Sanye returned to the station and got on the tricycle.
Han Yu initially wanted to sit in the cart, but Xu Sanye said it was too bumpy there and told him to sit in the back seat instead.
Riding a motorcycle for the first ti, Han Yu was indeed excited, but the ride was short, and they soon reached their destination—Four Factory Police Station, two kiloters from Yanjiang Police Station.
The duty officer recognized Xu Sanye and showed him much respect.
Xu Sanye inquired where their police station chief was, and took Han Yu straight to Four Factory Town's cinema.
Tonight they were showing a movie, and from the large poster outside the movie theater, it seed like it was "Cruel Desire
