At lunchti, Owen Lennon drove the car to the front door of the police station.
He originally wanted to wait for Rosalind to co out by herself, but after waiting for a full fifteen minutes, he didn’t see any sign of her.
He took out his phone to make a call, but Rosalind didn’t pick up. He thought irritably, that girl wouldn’t chicken out, right?
He swung open the car door, got out, and entered the police station. Seeing him again, a policeman asked, "Attorney Lennon, what brings you here?"
"I ca to find Rosalind."
Hearing him call Rosalind by her na, several officers exchanged glances. Clearly, there was sothing going on between them.
"Officer Rong got injured by a thief’s knife this morning while catching the thief. She’s at the hospital now."
Before the officer had finished speaking, Owen had already rushed out of the police station like a gust of wind.
He drove to the hospital at top speed and stord into her ward, his face full of anger.
The ward door swung open with a bang, startling everyone inside.
Owen, displeased, found two beds in the ward. One was empty, and the other was occupied by a woman he didn’t know.
He scratched his forehead, frustrated, and stepped out, pulling out his phone to call Roman Hughes.
As soon as the call connected, Owen said, "Get a VIP room that’s quiet."
"What’s up with you?"
"Nothing, just soone important needing the room."
"What kind of important person would get you so worked up? You’ve got curious," Roman Hughes teased with his gossiping nature.
This kind of thing he couldn’t miss.
Owen huffed irritably, "Why do you care so much?"
"Dude, I’m telling you, if you don’t say it now, I’ll co and bother you later. You know , I’m really curious, and if it’s a woman, then I’ll..."
"It is a woman, my girlfriend from years ago."
"You had a girlfriend? Oh, you an that policewoman?" Roman suddenly recalled.
Owen silently affird with a "hmm."
"What’s going on? Did you two et again? Both single and ready for fiery passion?"
"We were just about to, but she got injured on duty."
Realizing the situation, Roman stopped joking, "Alright, say no more. Co upstairs, I’ll arrange my personal room for patients for you."
Ending the call, Owen leaned against the ward door, waiting. Before long, Rosalind, injured and with her arm in a sling, appeared from the doctor’s office.
Seeing Owen, she halted in her tracks.
But Owen stepped away from the wall quickly, walked up to her, and held her tightly.
Rosalind was a bit embarrassed, "Ahem, why are you here?"
"How could I not co given the state you’re in?"
"I didn’t say you couldn’t co, I just... um."
Before she could finish, he kissed her deeply. At that mont, another officer accompanying her erged from the office and witnessed the scene.
He was amazed. Since when did Attorney Lennon get involved with Officer Rong? Officer Rong was quite fortunate.
He retreated quietly back to the doctor’s office, pretending not to have seen anything.
After what seed like a long ti, Owen released Rosalind, her face blushing like a cherry.
"This is a public place, you’re too brazen," she said, casting her gaze downwards.
Owen looked at her, "Aside from your arm, are you hurt anywhere else?"
Rosalind shook her head, still not daring to look at him.
"Good, pack up, and co with upstairs."
"What are we going upstairs for?"
"There are others here; it’s not convenient for to take care of you."
Rosalind understood, "Are you moving to another room?"
"Exactly."
"Let’s just forget it; I’m quite comfortable here."
"No," he said, already pulling her inside to gather her things.
Forcing her upstairs, Rosalind took a mont to adjust. This wasn’t a hospital room; it looked like a high-end hotel.
"I can’t claim expenses here, it’s an occupational injury."
"I’ll reimburse you."
"I can’t."
"If you don’t let your boyfriend reimburse you, who should?"
Rosalind bit her lip, "Boyfriend?"
"Am I not?"
"I haven’t agreed yet."
"What you say doesn’t count. Rember when you insisted on breaking up unilaterally? I didn’t want to agree then, but you were unreasonable. This ti I’ll learn from you. I’m your boyfriend now. A month from now, I’ll be your fiancé, and in three months, your husband."
Rosalind stood there dumbfounded, "What did you say?"
"Didn’t hear it clearly?"
"No, I an... who proposes like that? It’s totally like a robbery."
"Exactly, I’m robbing you. Whether you agree or not, it’s up to ."
Rosalind glared at him and sat on the bed, "Being so unreasonable, you’ll easily lose friends."
"Losing friends isn’t important compared to bringing my wife ho successfully."
"Don’t you think it’s too fast?"
"Fast? If it weren’t for your rash decision, we’d already have a second child by now."
Rosalind sighed, looking down, "At that ti, I had no choice. I had just joined the police, and it was all beyond my control."
"I know."
"You know?"
"Later, I learned about your situation. I moved away because I knew you were in that circle. If I stayed, I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to resist pulling you out. I left for your sake, not wanting to affect you."
Rosalind’s eyes reddened, "I’ve never regretted going undercover, but I often regret leaving you back then."
"I know."
"How do you know everything?"
"If you didn’t regret it, soone with your qualities would’ve found the right man long ago. You haven’t, because you still feel guilty about , right?"
He pulled her into his embrace as he spoke, "I’ve regretted it too; we were so right for each other. Why did we have to torture ourselves?"
"Then tell , are you the one who kept in Anchester?"
"It is I. Since you enjoy what you do, stay in Anchester, stay where I can keep an eye on you. This way we can be together and protect each other. Isn’t that good?"
Rosalind nodded, yes, it was good. Suddenly she felt a sense of peace.
For the first ti, her wandering heart found solace, an indescribable feeling.
In this life, perhaps only this man could bring her such happiness.
Because only by his side did she feel whole.
So-called treasure every step; that must be what it ans.
In the future, she would stay with him, bear his children, and the two of them would never part again.
