"Mom, I think feelings can’t be forced."

"I can see that Mr. Balthazar outside is indeed a nice person, but we’re not suitable."

"I’d rather live alone with the child than marry into another family with her."

"I don’t mind, but for Ivy, when she grows up, she might hate ."

Ivy looked solemnly at Paisley Golden and said, "Mom, I know you’re doing this for my good, but I still hope you’ll consider it carefully."

"I’m willing to be friends with Mr. Balthazar, but I won’t marry him."

"Being friends and forming a family are two different things, do you understand?"

"I can’t be soone else’s stepmother, nor can I have anyone be Ivy’s stepfather."

"Henry Sullivan did nothing wrong; he has no reason to accept his daughter calling soone else dad; it would hurt him."

"In the end, your heart still holds Henry," Paisley Golden looked at her, "You’re silly, and so is he."

"You two are already divorced. As long as his mother is alive, it’s impossible for you to get back together."

"Have you thought about it? Are you planning not to remarry for the rest of your life because of this?"

"Or do you want Henry to kill his mom for you? That’s impossible; it’s unreasonable and sothing you shouldn’t even think about."

"Even if that woman is bad, it doesn’t change the fact she gave birth to Henry. The gratitude of birth is greater than the sky. You can’t change that, understand?"

"Mom, what are you thinking? Who’s asking Henry to kill his mom? I think the way we are now is just fine."

Ivy laughed helplessly and shook her head; her mom really had quite the imagination.

"Let tell you, you’re not the sa type of person as Henry’s mom."

"Don’t you dare do those things I hate, because I’ll be mad too, okay?"

Ivy chuckled, carrying two plates of food out. In the living room, the two older guys were chatting, and Ivy was picking sunflower seeds, tossing them into a cup.

Balthazar occasionally looked at Ivy, patting her head; Ivy wasn’t shy, showing a row of slightly blackened teeth as she grinned at Balthazar.

Ivy put down the dishes, just as she was about to turn and head back to the kitchen, the door sounded.

Russell Miller looked at Ivy and said, "Go open the door; it’s probably Henry."

Ivy’s face darkened, "Is Henry coming over today?"

"Yes."

"Why didn’t you tell ," Ivy glanced at Balthazar, thinking she was dood.

"Didn’t I?" Russell Miller looked as if he thought he’d ntioned it.

Ivy was speechless, "Oh, well, no ntion of it that I heard."

She went over and opened the door, and sure enough, it was Henry standing there, smiling at her, "Did I miss lunch?"

Ivy took the gift he brought and placed it by the door, "You have a keen nose; Mom just finished cooking."

Henry walked in and closed the door, noticing there were guests, he nodded politely and greeted Russell Miller as ’Dad.’

Russell Miller humd in response, "Henry, let introduce you. This is my colleague’s nephew, Balthazar, a university professor, visiting our ho for the first ti today."

"Balthazar, this is my forr son-in-law, Henry Sullivan. He’s also a soldier; quite a nice guy."

Ivy listened and wished she could find a hole to hide in from embarrassnt.

Balthazar stood up and shook hands with Henry, "Hello."

The two sat down to chat, and Ivy didn’t dare to listen; she turned and went straight to the kitchen.

"Mom, Mom, it’s bad, Henry’s here."

"Huh?" Paisley Golden was also montarily stunned, "Really? Why didn’t he give us a heads up and startled us?"

"It was my dad who invited him, and he didn’t say anything before."

"Oh," Paisley Golden slapped her thigh, "Your dad, more trouble than he’s worth."

"What do we do now? Those two n outside are giving a headache."

Paisley Golden patted her on the shoulder, "What can you do? Just do what you have to do. It’s not like you’ve done anything wrong."

"Co on, bring the food out and eat. Let’s not ntion the matchmaking thing later."

Ivy took a deep breath; there was nothing else she could do.

When the mother and daughter went out, they found Balthazar and Henry were actually getting along well.

Russell Miller, probably feeling awkward too, had already taken Ivy aside.

Balthazar said to Henry, "It’s rare to see divorced couples still interacting like this."

"I’ve heard before that in Eldorian style marriages, once they end, it’s hard to maintain even superficial peace."
