Jane Quinlan frowned: "Evelyn Claire, what are you going to do?"
"What do you think?" Evelyn Claire said, then hung up the phone.
Listening to the beeping sound on the other end, Jane Quinlan turned to Kay Forrest.
"What should we do, Forrest? It seems like Evelyn Claire is going to commit suicide."
Kay Forrest raised his eyebrows and nodded: "It appears so."
"Shouldn’t we stop her?"
"You can never save soone who is determined to die."
"But... actually, Evelyn Claire is quite pitiable.
She did all this only because she was misled.
She thought you were her enemy, so she made mistakes. If only..."
Kay Forrest raised his hand and patted her shoulder: "Actually, Evelyn Claire’s thinking is correct.
Whether she realizes her mistakes or not, there’s no turning back for her."
"She is an educated woman, so she clearly understands the consequences of her actions.
It’s either the death penalty, or, at best, life imprisonnt."
"For soone who has harbored hatred from a young age and thought only of revenge,
losing her freedom, losing this belief in revenge, she has nothing left but an empty shell."
"The reason I say you can’t save a woman who is intent on dying is this:
You might save her once, but you can’t save her for a lifeti.
Isn’t it better to choose this way to end her life in a place she likes rather than being shot miserably?"
Jane Quinlan sighed deeply, "So, as we clearly know she wants to commit suicide, we do nothing?
I would feel very guilty; it’s like watching soone die."
Kay Forrest helplessly raised his hand and rubbed her head: "I really don’t know what to do with you."
He then took out his phone and made a call to the police chief.
He had already inford the police; the outco was now beyond their control.
Jane Quinlan actually also felt conflicted, Evelyn Claire was pitiable, but wasn’t Wendy, the one she had hard, pitiable too?
As Evelyn Claire herself said, "Murder deserves death, it’s only natural."
After Kay Forrest finished the call with the police chief, Jane Quinlan felt much more at peace.
That was enough; she had done everything she could, and no longer had any guilt.
At night, Jane Quinlan was plagued by dreams.
She dreamt of an older girl holding the young Evelyn Claire’s hand.
Evelyn Claire was watching her sister with a happy and sweet smile.
The sister asked, "Claire, what do you want to eat?"
Evelyn Claire smiled sweetly, "I love cabbage the most, sister, let’s just have cabbage."
Ava Claire’s eyes reddened slightly as she nodded: "Okay."
The two of them walked increasingly farther away hand in hand in the snowy night...
The next day, Jane Quinlan went to the company with Kay Forrest.
Despite everything that had happened, life had to continue.
But today, Kay Forrest was without an assistant, and his previous work had always been handled by Wendy, leaving Jane Quinlan sowhat lost.
When Jane Quinlan brought him a cup of tea, she saw Kay Forrest bustling about.
She felt guilty: "Really, I’ve been here so long and haven’t worked properly.
Now I can’t even help you; you have to deal with all this alone."
Kay Forrest waved her over, and she walked over and sat on his lap, wrapping her arms around his neck.
Kay Forrest tapped her nose: "I didn’t plan to have you trouble yourself over these matters.
They’re all quite botherso. Just focus on resting properly."
"But deeper considerations for these matters are just trivialities to ."
"But..." Jane Quinlan pouted.
Kay Forrest tapped her pouted lips: "Where do these ’buts’ co from?
Don’t underestimate your man, I am fully capable of handling matters.
There’s no need for you, do you really think your husband is worthless?"
"I just don’t want you to be so tired.
Seeing you like this, my heart aches."
Kay Forrest smiled mischievously: "Don’t worry, I know how to slack off more than others. The competent assistant I’m expecting will arrive soon.
Once he’s here, I’ll have ti to spend with you."
Jane Quinlan nodded helplessly, realizing she couldn’t contribute much; all she could do was offer him so comforting words.
"By the way, I received a call this morning I forgot to tell you about, Evelyn Claire is gone.
By the ti the police arrived yesterday, it was already too late.
"She took weed killer, and there was no saving her even in the hospital."
Jane Quinlan’s heart thudded chaotically, but she just nodded.
Just like Kay had said, for Evelyn Claire, this was probably the perfect ending.
Last night, she had a dream about Evelyn Claire.
By now, Evelyn Claire must have reunited with her sister.
eting her sister again, she hoped her sister would heal her emotional wounds.
Everyone likes to say there is no hurt in heaven, right?
In the afternoon, Kay Forrest’s capable assistant arrived.
Jane Quinlan was truly shocked by this capable assistant because he was incredibly handso.
Though not as dazzling as Kay, this guy’s impressive height was sothing else.
Later, she found out that this handso man beca the heartthrob of all the company’s young won as soon as he joined the company.
With Kay having her and Nolan Moore on a long leave, the young won had almost lost their fighting spirit, but now a new dish had arrived...
When Kay Forrest saw how Jane Quinlan looked at the newcor, he quickly got up, went to her side, and pulled her into his arms.
"Nina, let introduce you. This is my wife, Jane Quinlan.
Jane, this is Nina Norris, a Korean-Eldorian mix, my junior."
Jane Quinlan said knowingly with a clap of her hand: "Ah, a Korean-Eldorian mix, I see. I could tell from the long-legged oppa vibe from a mile away."
Kay Forrest rolled his eyes at her: "Is vibe sothing you can sll?"
"Don’t you know? Vibe has always been about the scent."
Nina Norris laughed heartily: "Senior, your wife is really cute."
"Cute as she is, she’s taken, don’t get any ideas."
Jane Quinlan grinned: "You can admire all you want, but dreaming is off-limits."
Kay Forrest tousled her hair: "Alright, enough talk, go sit outside, I have things to explain to Nina."
Jane Quinlan pouted and glared at him before turning around to go out.
Nina laughed: "Senior, I never imagined you were such a playboy in Zurich, and then you changed so much after returning.
I almost passed out when I heard you were getting married.
I thought you’d never get married in this lifeti.
It’s surprising that there’s actually a woman who could hold on to you.
I’m really curious about how your wife managed to get hold of you.
This doesn’t match your personality at all."
Kay Forrest shrugged: "Who knows, I used to doubt whether this woman knew so Black Magic.
Turns out, I was thinking too much.
You can’t feel it, but there’s a certain scent about her that’s quite unique to .
How should I put it... it’s probably fate."
He said with a sly smile, and Nina exclaid with a ’yo’ sound.
Kay Forrest hugged him: "Co on, let’s discuss serious matters first, then go to my place tonight, and we’ll have a drink together."
"Going to your place? Your wife won’t mind, right?"
"Her? No, she’s very hospitable."
"Great, let’s talk business now, and tonight we won’t return until we’re fully drunk."
When it was ti to leave work in the evening, Kay Forrest drove Jane Quinlan and Nina Norris ho together.
In the car, Kay said to her: "Tonight, Nina and I are really going to drink up; you should cook so of your best dishes for us to go with the alcohol."
Jane Quinlan smirked proudly: "Every dish I cook is my best, you guys just order."
"Wow, sister-in-law is so confident."
Jane Quinlan chuckled and looked back at Nina: "It’s indeed my top-notch cooking skills that conquered him."
Nina Norris praised: "My dad said that Eldorian won cook very delicious food, looks like it’s true."
"Your dad is Eldorian?"
"No, my mom is Eldorian, my dad was attracted by my mom’s cooking skills back then."
Upon hearing Nina’s words, Jane Quinlan suddenly beca curious about how their international marriage ca to be: "How did your parents et, in Eldoria or Korea?"
Nina laughed: "Neither, they t in Zurich.
My dad was sent on a business trip there, and back then my grandfather was a staff mber at the Zurich Chinese Embassy.
That’s how the two of them got to know each other.
Latter, they simply settled down and started a family in Zurich."
Jane Quinlan glanced at Kay Forrest with a deeper look in her eyes: "Forrest, I just rembered, our kid is also mixed."
"Our kid?" he glanced at her stomach while driving.
"What, do you have foreign blood?"
"No way, our baby is mixed Rongford and Anchester."
Mixed like that? Kay Forrest couldn’t help but burst into laughter, totally amused by her.
