Evie Larkin smiled and walked forward to place a docunt on his desk.
"Nolan, this is the docunt that I was instructed to deliver to you."
Nolan Moore picked up the docunt and glanced at it: "Is this about a makeup advertisent?"
"Yes, this new product is quite good.
I also asked for a box of samples earlier and tried it myself."
Nolan nodded: "Okay, I know. I’ll instruct my team to start preparing for this shortly."
"We have a little over a month, the advertisent might need to be expedited."
"No problem, leave it to , don’t worry."
As he spoke, he closed the docunt and looked up at her: "How about it, do you have ti to chat with ?"
Evie nodded: "If it doesn’t interfere with your work."
Nolan stood up and pointed to the sofa by the window: "Take a seat."
Evie walked over and sat down, Nolan dialed the internal line and asked Jane Quinlan to bring in a cup of tea.
He moved a chair and sat opposite her.
"Since returning, I’ve not had the ti to co see you.
Even though I’ve been working at the company consistently, I just can’t find the ti.
You won’t hold this against , right?"
Nolan said, looking deeply into her eyes.
Evie pursed her lips and shook her head with a smile: "I thought Kay didn’t want to see , and that you didn’t want to see either."
"How could that be, my not coming to see you has nothing to do with him.
It’s purely because I’ve been really busy.
You know my personality, if I take up a job, I have to do it to the best of my abilities."
Evie nodded, "I understand, I always say, we are so alike, so I think I understand you."
He smiled and asked: "Is your relationship still so strained?"
Evie looked sowhat lancholic: "I used to think that there’s no hurdle in the world one cannot overco.
With the passage of ti, so things can be erased and forgotten.
So fissures can be nded.
But only recently did I realize, so knots are indeed not so easy to untie.
Especially the ones that were tightly bound from the start.
Kay has always been stubborn.
Once he fixes his mind on hating , no matter how hard I try, it’s futile."
"Everyone goes through a process of growth.
As we grow, our mindset changes.
But it seems he hasn’t changed at all.
He lives by his own rules, completely uncaring of others’ feelings.
Who in this world does not make mistakes?
Making mistakes is okay as long as one rembers to nd their ways, right?
But Kay thinks differently from , he doesn’t understand what forgiveness or letting go ans."
"No, the one who doesn’t understand how to let go is ."
As she was speaking, a knock ca from the door.
Nolan spoke towards the door: "Co in."
Jane Quinlan pushed the door open and brought in two cups of tea.
Seeing Jane, a hint of displeasure tinted Nolan’s brow.
If not for her, perhaps Evie and Kay might still have had a chance.
Her interference destroyed Evie’s happiness.
He had disliked this woman from the beginning, probably because she forced her way into a circle not ant for her.
"How can you serve tea like this to a guest, go and make it again."
Jane was startled and glanced at the tea she had made. What was wrong with this tea?
She didn’t notice any issues.
She looked up at him, this jerk, picking a fight again.
Nolan spoke displeased: "What are you looking at for? Didn’t you hear what I said?"
Jane silently stood up, carrying the teacups out.
Evie looked puzzledly at Nolan: "Years have passed, how co you’ve beco so stern.
It’s just a cup of tea, it’s all drinkable anyway.
Why lash out at her?
Look at that girl, she’s all confused because of what you said."
"I’m not being harsh, I just expect my employees to perform their tasks to my satisfaction.
I don’t want them slacking off or just getting by.
I want them to correct their work attitudes."
Evie heard him say this and didn’t argue further.
After all, she had no mood to ddle in others’ affairs right now.
She asked faintly: "Did you hear, Kay has a new girlfriend.
Their relationship seems to be quite good."
Nolan remained silent, a touch of sorrow shadowed Evie’s heart.
"It seems you know too, then have you t that girl?
Does that girl really seem that great?"
Her voice was a bit urgent as she asked this question.
Nolan felt it, she wanted to know what kind of woman Kay had ended up with.
"That girl, in my eyes, is not a match for you in any aspect.
