"Xavier, let tell you, even if I’ve been deceived, I will absolutely not listen to another word of nonsense from you.

You’re nothing but a scoundrel, unable to lead a good life yourself, and always dragging others down with you.

Falling for you was blindness on my part.

From now on, keep your opinions about my life to yourself."

Jane Quinlan said this as she took hold of her father with one hand and her mother with the other, and so angrily left.

This ti, Xavier didn’t chase after her again.

Reaching the doorway, that’s when Jane finally released her parents.

Jane’s mother was utterly confused.

But Jane’s father’s expression showed so disquiet: "Your cousin and aunt said your boyfriend is the heir to Skyward Group. Is that true?"

Jane found it hard to et her father’s eyes.

Yet she gathered her courage and nodded: "Yes."

Jane’s mother covered her mouth: "Oh my God, Old Quinlan, what good fortune has our family stumbled upon.

How could Jane possibly..."

"Shut your mouth," Quinlan’s usually mild-mannered father probably said such harsh words to her mother for the first ti in his life.

Jane’s mother was stunned: "What’s the matter with you, glaring at our daughter like that."

"You old fool, don’t you understand?

That young man just now might not look like anything good, but what he said was true.

Kay Forrest is the famous heir of the nation-wide Skyward Group.

But what about our daughter?

She’s just a worker’s daughter.

We have held our child back; how could she, a commoner, have the capability to marry into a wealthy family?"

Quinlan’s father’s words brought a surge of tears to Jane’s eyes.

Her humble background and family’s financial situation had always been her greatest insecurities.

But she never imagined that even her father shared the sa thoughts.

It seems this truly was her Achilles’ heel.

Even if Forrest loves her now, she may ultimately not be the best match for him.

She had always known this fact.

Seeing the father and daughter’s troubled faces,

Jane’s mother glared at Quinlan’s father: "What do you an by that.

What is my daughter lacking?

Is a poor background sothing my daughter could control?

Only you and I are to bla for not being capable enough.

But what does that have to do with my daughter’s marriage?

My daughter is marrying a man who can cherish her for a lifeti, not his family’s social status.

If Kay Forrest wants to marry my daughter, he must show genuine sincerity.

His good circumstances are his business, not what we asked for."

"Mom, Dad, stop arguing."

Jane sighed and interrupted the quarrel between them.

She hadn’t expected to encounter Xavier today.

What’s even more unexpected is that Xavier would stab her in the back so cruelly and forcefully.

"Let’s go back ho first, we can talk about these things once we’re ho."

Quinlan’s father shook off Jane’s hand that ca to make peace: "We won’t go back to your place.

Knowing you’re well is enough to put our minds at ease; we’re going to the train station to buy tickets and head back now."

"Dad," Jane said, tears welling up as she grabbed Quinlan’s father’s hand, "please don’t be like this.

It’s not Kay Forrest’s background that I love.

The first ti I t Kay, I didn’t know anything about his family circumstances.

I also didn’t know he was the heir to the Skyward Group when I fell for him.

He’s a good person, he treats well, and those around as well.

Didn’t you already know? He even helped my cousin find a job."

"That’s a debt you owe; do you think that’s sothing good?

Soday, you’ll feel inferior to him because of these things."

Quinlan’s father sighed: "Jane, your father wants what’s best for you, not..."

"I’m doing very well now; I’ve never been better than I am at this mont.

Dad, I love him, and it has nothing to do with his family’s status.

Even if his family has good standing, he’s still just the person who’d accompany to eat at a street stall.

I hesitated when he first said he wanted to be with .

I didn’t know what made worthy to stand by his side.

But later on, he was really good to ; he never let others bully , always protected , and cared for in silence.

I can’t help but love such a man.

Rather than choosing soone like Xavier, who cheated on for a woman’s family status,

I would rather choose soone like Kay Forrest who boldly admits his past as a playboy, but promises his unwavering loyalty to ."

"A dog can’t change its habit of eating shit."

"Right, a dog can’t change its habit of eating shit, but Kay Forrest is a human.

Being intelligent ans having self-control."

Jane’s father looked at his daughter, deeply in love, and felt very sad.

"So you’re determined to be with him?"

"Dad, I like him, really like him."

Jane’s mother patted her husband’s shoulder.

"That’s enough. Haven’t you seen the sparkle in Jane’s eyes when she talks about Forrest?

You can’t stop her now.

Won are just like that, you really don’t understand."

"I just want to protect you, little Jane." Jane’s father reached out to touch Jane’s face.

Jane held her father’s hand with pursed lips: "I know, but I want to tell you, I trust him."

Jane’s father sighed: "This is your own choice, you can’t have any regrets in the future."

Jane nodded forcefully: "Can we go to my place now?"

Jane’s mother nudged Jane’s father: "It’s not easy to visit our daughter.

Stop putting on a stern face, just smile."

Jane’s father thought for a mont and eventually nodded: "Let’s go."

Jane jumped up happily and walked to the edge of the road to hail a taxi.

After the three of them got into the taxi, Jane chatted with her parents about what was where as they went along.

It was only when they were almost ho that she rembered sothing: "Mom, Dad, wait for a sec, I need to call Forrest."

"Oh dear, Forrest must be busy. Let’s not disturb him."

"It’s fine," Jane said with a smile as she dialed Kay Forrest’s cell phone.

The call connected and Kay’s cheerful response ca through: "Jane? Why is it your number?"

"The company just compensated with a new phone, and I got my number back."

"I’ve already had soone go buy you a new one..." Kay Forrest felt like he was a step late.

He had been with her constantly these past few days and hadn’t thought to replace her phone.

He had planned to invite her to lunch today and then rembered that he couldn’t call her.

He had already arranged for soone to buy a new phone and bring it to her, but he hadn’t expected that it wouldn’t be delivered in ti.

"Then just return it. There’s no use for so many."

"Let’s talk about that later. How are you doing? I didn’t go look for you for lunch today, are you getting used to it?"

"I’m quite used to it. Did you think I couldn’t live without you?"

"That’s indeed a sad piece of news for ."

Jane bit her lip, looked back at her parents with a smile, and said: "I wanted to tell you sothing.

My phone was broken these last couple of days.

My parents couldn’t find and couldn’t get in touch with you either.

The elders got anxious and ca straight to look for ."

Kay Forrest beca slightly more serious: "Where are they now? I’ll send soone to pick them up."

"My cousin has already taken ti off to fetch them. They’re right beside now.

I’ve asked Director Moore for three days off to accompany them, and we’re on our way ho."

"Alright, you guys go ahead, I’ll be there soon."

"No need, just get on with your work. Just co back in the evening."

"It’s fine, I’ve processed so extra files at noon, I can leave early in the afternoon.

There wasn’t anything major happening today anyway."

Jane thought it over and nodded: "Then we’ll head ho first and wait for you."

As the two chatted happily, Jane’s mother said to Jane’s father: "Look, our daughter and Forrest have a good relationship.

They can really hold a conversation."

"If they have nothing to say to each other during the honeymoon phase, then that really is a sign to break up."

Jane’s father said these words with an unpleasant tone, but deep down he was actually quite reassured.

"Look at you, so negative, always talking about breaking up.

Can you let our daughter manage her own happiness?

We’ve been looking forward to her finding a boyfriend for so long, don’t always dampen her spirits."

But Jane’s father felt rather pessimistic in his heart.

Upon arriving in the residential area, Jane’s mother was surprised: "This complex is quite nice."

"It’s not bad, co on, we live on the top floor."

The three of them went upstairs together and entered the house. Jane’s mother couldn’t help but exclaim: "Rich people really do live well.

This house is also quite large, it’s a bit too spacious for just the two of you."

Jane said with a bit of pride: "The one across is also Forrest’s."

"Really? Bought two apartnts?"

"Hmm."

Jane’s father walked around the apartnt.

When he ca out of the bedroom, he looked sowhat upset: "Jane, let ask you, are you and Forrest living together?"
