"Actually, I don’t really know you, but I understand Kay Forrest, which is why I asked you that question."
Nolan Moore nodded lightly with a hint of a smile at the corner of his lips.
In fact, she had rarely seen him smile.
His current smile made Jane Quinlan feel like she had guessed correctly.
"Indeed, so things have happened that created a distance between us.
However, it doesn’t affect my familial love for him."
He didn’t say what those things were, and Jane didn’t ask any further.
In her view, if Nolan wanted to talk about it, he would have told her upfront.
But it was clear she had no intention to discuss it.
So why bother making things awkward for herself.
After the al, the two of them went back to the office together.
As they approached the lobby of the company, Jane imdiately spotted Benjamin Quinlan standing by the elevator entrance.
She ran up from Nolan’s side and patted Benjamin on the shoulder: "Bro, why are you here?"
Benjamin turned around, saw that it was Jane, and frowned: "Where have you been? I’ve been waiting for half a day."
"I stepped out for a bit, what’s up?"
"Your phone has been off these past few days.
Your uncle and aunt couldn’t reach you at all.
They don’t have your brother-in-law’s number, so they got anxious and ca here to see you.
Unable to find you, they contacted ."
"Ah?" Jane was surprised: "My phone was... I lost it, and I just got a new SIM card at noon today.
Where are mom and dad now?"
"There’s a girl nad Daisy Zenith in your company who said she’s your good friend.
She took your uncle and aunt upstairs to wait for you."
Jane turned to look at Nolan Moore, who was standing two ters away, with an unfriendly gaze.
It was all this guy’s fault. If he hadn’t broken her phone that day, none of this would have happened.
She turned around, pressed the elevator button, and went up with Benjamin and Nolan.
Daisy Zenith took Ms. and Mr. Quinlan into the rest room.
When Jane rushed in, the old couple were drinking tea: "Dad, Mom."
Seeing Jane, her mother put down her teacup and ca forward: "Jane, my child, why didn’t you keep your phone on? We thought sothing happened to you, it scared your dad and to death."
Jane hugged her mother: "I lost my phone, I just went to replace the SIM card."
"The key point is we couldn’t contact Kay either, so we had no choice but to co here ourselves.
After arriving, we got in touch with your cousin, who took leave to pick us up from the high-speed rail station and brought us here."
Jane nodded: "I know, my cousin just told .
Well, since you’re here, why don’t you stay for a few days.
I’ll ask for leave in a bit and take you to where I live."
"Is that okay? We don’t want to get in the way of your work.
Seeing that you’re alright, we can leave."
Mr. Quinlan didn’t actually want to stay; he didn’t know anybody here, and it was very inconvenient.
"No problem, I’ll just ask for leave."
Jane said, turning to Daisy Zenith: "Daisy, this is my cousin, Benjamin Quinlan.
Could you please make a cup of tea for my cousin? I’m going to ask Director Moore for so ti off."
"Sure, go ahead," Daisy blushed a little when she looked at Benjamin.
Jane went to the door of Nolan Moore’s office, knocked, and then entered.
Nolan was looking at so docunts. Seeing her enter, he raised an eyebrow: "Taking leave?"
"Director Moore, you would grant this leave, right?
If it wasn’t for you breaking my phone, my parents wouldn’t have had to co here worrying about ."
Nolan nodded: "Take the afternoon off."
"I want to ask for three days off. It’s the first ti my parents have co to look for here.
I want to take so ti off to show them around Nolan City."
Jane felt sowhat uneasy asking for this leave.
Because she felt that with Nolan’s character, he might not agree to give her such a long ti off.
But unexpectedly... he agreed.
"The newspaper isn’t making a profit anyway, and having you here just ans paying more salary.
If you want to take leave, go ahead.
But those days won’t be paid."
"Okay," Jane nodded happily: "Thank you, Director Moore."
"Don’t ntion thanks, I don’t want you to keep blaming every ti this issue cos up."
Jane pursed her lips: "Can I take my parents and leave now then?"
"Go ahead."
Jumping with joy in her heart, Jane turned and left.
Watching her close the door, a flicker of envy passed through Nolan’s eyes.
Having parents who love and worry about you felt like this.
If you can’t be reached, your parents will worry and rush to different places to find you.
Unfortunately, this was an emotion he had never experienced.
Jane stopped at the doorway of the pantry excitedly stomping her foot: "Director Moore granted the leave."
