"I hope you will always rember that when you step into your thirties, I’m the one here accompanying you."
Hunter Warren raised his eyebrows. He hadn’t expected soone as ruthless as Lucas Warren to have such a tender side.
They were brothers, but they’d been at odds for as long as they could rember.
Grandmother had once said they were sent by Heaven to be one another’s best assistant.
But if they failed to cherish that bond, then this "assistant" could just as easily turn into a dagger piercing straight through the heart.
Grandmother had instructed him to treasure his relationship with Lucas.
Yet, he felt this was the most impossible of all her hopes.
"Faye, I’m still repeating the sa words—I’m waiting for you, waiting for you to take the initiative and co to ."
"You know that this ti, I’m not just throwing words around."
"I’ve been back for over a month now, and winter is just around the corner."
"My patience is nearly worn thin. This is the last chance I’m giving you."
"For your life after thirty, I hope it’s spent with ."
Hunter let out a cold scoff.
At the other end of the phone, Lucas faintly heard the sound and finally sensed sothing was amiss.
He asked suspiciously, "Faye? Are you the one listening right now?"
"My wife is asleep. Calling soone so late is highly inappropriate,"
Hunter said and imdiately hung up.
Faye Townsend leaned closer to him, "What did he say?"
"Nothing. You can ignore him. Just sleep."
Faye frowned, "How could it be nothing? You were listening for quite so ti."
"Be good, don’t pay him any mind. Sleep." He wrapped his long arms around her, pulling her into his embrace, his lips pressing gently against the top of her head.
She felt worried, wondering if Lucas had said sothing outrageous to him.
But seeing him breathing evenly as he quickly drifted into sleep, it seed there wasn’t much to worry about after all.
Lucas Warren was like a ticking ti bomb waiting to explode at any mont.
Right now, she was indeed worried, but what could she do to stop him? She honestly didn’t know.
On the other end of the phone, Lucas, having heard Hunter’s voice, furiously threw his phone to the ground.
The device shattered upon impact as Lucas let out a fierce growl.
He had been holding back—not out of fear of Hunter Warren—but to use the leverage he had against Faye Townsend.
But now, it appeared neither of them cared about his threats.
It seed... it was ti to show Faye Townsend that Lucas Warren was not soone to be trifled with.
He had already given them far too many chances.
And since they chose to be rciless, he would show them no rcy either.
Sunday, Faye Townsend was at ho reviewing company docunts while watching the two kids play.
Clara’s call ca through.
Setting aside the docunts, she moved over to the floor-to-ceiling windows to answer the phone, "Clara, how are you? Are you managing okay physically in Malaysia?"
"I’m alright. I’m planning to return in a few days."
"But there’s sothing I need to ask you—does Sebastian Sheldon know Walter Hansen?"
Faye paused in confusion, "Not likely. Why would you ask that?"
Clara sighed, "Faye, you won’t believe this. I sent soone to investigate Walter Hansen, and the photos I received had Sebastian Sheldon in them."
"You’re investigating Walter Hansen?"
"Yeah, it’s because there’s a project that can only be finalized with him in Malaysia."
Faye nodded, "And what do you an by seeing Sebastian Sheldon in the photos?"
"I sent soone to trail Walter Hansen and take pictures, and among the photos, there was one of him drinking coffee with Sebastian Sheldon at a café."
"Initially, I didn’t notice it was her, but when I looked closer at the photos the second ti, I realized it was her."
"How strange is that? These two aren’t even remotely connected."
Faye’s eyes narrowed, a sharp glint flashing across her gaze.
"Faye, why aren’t you saying anything?"
She hesitated for a mont before replying, "Clara, send a photo of that right away."
"Alright, I’ll take a snapshot. I won’t be mistaken—it’s definitely Sebastian Sheldon. Rember, we fought with her once before; I recognize her."
After hanging up, Clara quickly sent over the photo.
Faye opened it on her phone and imdiately confird it was Sebastian Sheldon.
Walter Hansen and Sebastian Sheldon... seeing these two together truly bewildered her.
What was going on? Why were they together?
How did Sebastian Sheldon even know Walter Hansen was in Malaysia?
If they were sitting together drinking coffee, it proved there was so bond between them.
But these two...
Faye carefully tried to recall, but couldn’t think of any mont in the past ten years that might link them.
Walter Hansen had been a driver for her family.
Sebastian Sheldon had been Hunter Warren’s girlfriend at the ti.
Aside from the chance possibility of Walter Hansen running into Sebastian Sheldon while chauffeuring her to et Hunter, they wouldn’t have had any introduction through mutual acquaintances.
Now Walter Hansen was a suspect in her parents’ murder.
Sebastian Sheldon approaching him at this ti... it was hard not to let her imagination run wild.
Without hesitation, she saved the photo to her phone album.
This matter needed thorough investigation.
That evening, Faye went to Hunter’s company to pick him up, having agreed the previous day to accompany him to an event.
Just as Hunter stepped out of his office, she completed her elegant preparations and arrived at the entrance.
In these high-society circles, events typically comprised the sa prominent figures.
Faye seldom attended these gatherings, but in this world, there wasn’t anyone who didn’t know her.
When she appeared alongside Hunter Warren, applause erupted in the private room.
"Second Master, how did you convince yourself to bring your beloved wife out tonight?"
The speaker was Sean Lennox, grandson of Anchester’s forr mayor, who currently ran a leather goods business rumored to be quite profitable.
His first big financial break had been made possible with Hunter’s help.
Because of this, Sean would often invite Hunter out for small gatherings with a few friends.
Faye simply nodded and smiled at him, "Master Lennox, hello."
"Mrs. Warren, hello! Second Master often talks about you, but this is the first ti seeing you in person. Please have a seat!"
Hunter pulled her forward to sit down.
The crowd consisted of familiar faces. Ever since Hunter walked in, he hadn’t said much, focusing instead on looking after her.
It was evident to everyone how much he doted on her, constantly pouring tea and topping up her cup.
He knew Faye didn’t enjoy such occasions—neither did he.
But in the business world, so engagents were unavoidable.
"Second Master, our company is planning a mountain education assistance program in a few days."
"Would you be interested in bringing your wife along to participate?"
"Mountain education assistance?" Faye showed so interest.
"Yes, my grandfather recently spent so ti back in his hotown."
The region is an old revolutionary base, remote, and the education available for children there is severely lacking. After seeing the conditions, he felt deeply moved and decided to push to do more good deeds."
Faye turned to Hunter, smiling slightly, "Let’s participate. Donate more money while we’re at it. My father always attended these kinds of events in Anchester."
"Alright, as you wish." Hunter gently stroked her head.
His affection for Faye was so obvious it felt tangible to those watching.
After that, he turned to Sean Lennox, "Did you specifically ask to bring Faye because of this event?"
Sean chuckled awkwardly, "Not entirely... Tonight, I brought her here because I wanted to ask for a favor."
"A favor? Sounds serious. Let’s hear it—what is it?"
Faye turned her attention to Sean, her expression serious.
After hesitating for a mont, he pointed outside the room, "Mrs. Warren, could we talk privately?"
Hunter smirked, "You’ll have to ask if I allow it."
Sean grinned apologetically, "Second Master, it’s about a significant life matter. Please grant so leeway."
Hunter gave a wry smile and stepped aside, allowing Sean to lead Faye out.
In the hallway outside the private room, Faye leaned against the wall as Sean stood a short distance away from her.
"So... Mrs. Warren, can you help as a matchmaker?"
"A matchmaker?" Faye took a deep breath. Since when did she acquire such a skill?
"Master Lennox, you’ve lost here. Don’t tell you’ve fallen for soone at my company."
"Oh no, not at all. The person isn’t from your company."
Faye grinned; it seed she’d guessed right, just that the person wasn’t part of her team.
"Who’s captured your interest then? Speak up."
"Clara."
Faye froze and blinked, montarily thrown off guard, "Clara? You know Clara?"
Sean shook his head, "At the mont, no. But I hope with your help, the unfamiliar can beco familiar, and the familiar can bloom into affection."
"You don’t know her, so how could you have fallen for her?" Faye laughed. It was a delightful surprise.
Though she wasn’t sure yet if Clara would be willing.
"A while ago, I attended a business banquet. That day, she entered the room wearing a royal blue evening gown."
"The mont I saw her, she walked straight into my heart."
"Ever since then, I’ve been digging for information about her."
"That’s when I found out she was in a car accident and hospitalized."
"During that period, I was genuinely anxious, just thinking about her all the ti."
"I even went to the hospital three tis, but the nurses wouldn’t let see her."
"When I learned she recently went to Malaysia, I wavered, wondering if I should find soone to connect us."
"And now it’s clear—I must. These past few days, I’ve been utterly consud by thoughts of her."
"’These past few days?’ Faye frowned slightly, ’I don’t want any match I arrange to be too fragile to pass ti’s tests.’
"Mrs. Warren, you misunderstand—I’m genuinely serious about Ms. Clara."
Faye rubbed her temples lightly, "Alright, I can help sound her out subtly. But what if she has soone she likes?"
"She hasn’t married yet; as long as she’s single, there’s still a chance."
"I always believe in fair competition."
Faye tilted her head and smiled faintly, suddenly realizing how much he reminded her of herself.
She had felt the sa way about Hunter Warren back then, hadn’t she?
"So, you’re serious about Clara?"
"Couldn’t be more serious."
Thinking it over, she nodded, "Alright then, once she returns from Malaysia, I’ll bring up the subject."
Sean Lennox grabbed her arms slightly, almost trembling with excitent, "Really, Mrs. Warren? Truly?"
