In Anchester, if he and Oliver Turner could be considered local overlords, then Mr. Forrest was the immortal legend.
In this vast city, no one in either the light or the shadowy sides of society dared to disrespect Mr. Forrest.
There was a ti when he thought that having money wasn’t the ultimate goal.
The true goal was that, when he grew old, people could respectfully call him Mr. Townsend.
That would be a true symbol of identity and status.
When he entered, the servant was just wheeling Mr. Forrest out of the study.
After handing his gift to the servant, he stepped forward. "Mr. Forrest, it’s been a long ti."
"It really has, Mr. Warren. Please, have a seat."
Hunter Warren stepped forward. "Mr. Forrest, I have sothing I’d like to discuss with you privately. I wonder... where would be convenient?"
"Let’s go to the tea room then."
"Alright." Hunter Warren followed behind Mr. Forrest and the servant into the tea room.
Mr. Forrest instructed the servant to leave and then sat opposite Hunter at the tea table. Personally, he brewed a pot of Yellow Mount Maofeng tea for him.
"This Yellow Mount Maofeng isn’t very expensive, but I like its fragrance. You should give it a try."
Hunter Warren picked up the teacup, sipped it lightly, and offered a faint smile. "In Anchester, when it cos to tea, I doubt anyone can compare to you, Mr. Forrest."
"Ah, such complints are fine only when there are just the two of us. Say that outside, and people’ll laugh out loud."
Mr. Forrest chuckled softly and took a sip himself. "You’re here today, surely because of Faye, aren’t you?"
Hunter Warren nodded and placed his teacup down. "It seems nothing escapes you, Mr. Forrest."
"So days ago, I heard from my son that he was planning to leave his work in Switzerland to return ho. Only then did I learn about you and Faye.
That girl has quite the tight lips. She’s visited several tis, yet she never once ntioned it."
"Faye probably didn’t know how to bring it up."
"She didn’t know how to bring it up, so she sent you instead?"
Mr. Forrest scrutinized Hunter Warren as he sipped his tea. "Young people these days, I tell you. They really act without a second thought.
They speak of love and imdiately want to marry; they fall out of love and rush for divorce.
Such back-and-forth nonsense, with no sense of order."
"Mr. Forrest, I was wrong in the past.
I know you genuinely care about Faye as if she were your own daughter; that’s why you said those things to .
Over these past six years, I’ve reflected deeply.
Now that I’ve finally made my way back to Faye’s side, I plan to cherish this hard-won happiness."
"Happiness?" Grayson Forrest set his cup down, shaking his head with a slight smile.
"Second Master Warren, what do you think happiness is?"
"To , the life I live now is happiness—having a wife, children, material comfort, and being able to give my kids the life they want."
Grayson Forrest smiled faintly and nodded. "Your thoughts do align with those of your father-in-law."
Hunter Warren’s brows lifted slightly. "My understanding of happiness cos from my father-in-law.
A long while back, I honestly didn’t know what true happiness was.
Perhaps it’s because I never really had it before. So when I did, I didn’t know how to treasure it.
Mr. Forrest, you’re probably aware of my parents’ relationship. Growing up in a family like that, I only ca to my senses after losing Faye once.
Happiness is actually quite simple—a peaceful life and a complete family. That’s all one truly needs."
Grayson Forrest poured Hunter Warren another cup of tea. "To be honest, I personally didn’t agree with Faye reconciling with you.
She didn’t tell about it beforehand either.
It’s not that she didn’t know how to bring it up; rather, she was afraid that if she did, I would oppose it."
"Mr. Forrest, Faye and I understand your feelings completely.
But Mr. Forrest, I’m no longer the Hunter Warren I used to be.
Please trust and let Faye stay by my side without worry.
I will prove with my actions that Faye will be happy with ."
Grayson Forrest chuckled faintly, his voice soft but tinged with sarcasm.
Hunter Warren, however, remained composed, his expression unperturbed.
"Giving a woman happiness isn’t sothing you say with words; it’s sothing you show with actions."
"Don’t worry, Mr. Forrest. I am well aware of that."
Grayson Forrest looked at him. "Back then, EdwaRrd always respected his children’s opinions and wishes. As an uncle, I naturally have no reason to oppose Faye seeking her own happiness.
So, Second Master Warren, there’s really no need for you to tread so carefully while seeking my approval. As long as you treat Faye well, I won’t intervene.
Now, tell , what’s your real purpose for coming to see today?"
Hunter Warren smiled faintly, keeping his tone composed. "I wanted to ask for a favor from you, Mr. Forrest."
Grayson Forrest tilted his head with a peculiar smile. "Let’s hear it first."
