"It’s really not a joke. My elentary school classmate, her family helped us a lot when my brother and I were little."
"I’ve never heard you ntion it before. Why suddenly marry her, are you repaying a debt?"
"No, it’s self-redemption." Ke Jingran laughed at himself, "I really wish I were the person in the drama, I’m so bright there, but now I’m so dark."
Joyina looked at him suspiciously, "Ke Jingran, what are you talking about? Are you upset about sothing?"
"I’m not upset, I’ve just realized so things in the past few months. I should thank you for that; without you, I might have been stuck forever."
Joyina looked at him seriously. Although she didn’t know what happened these past months, she understood he wasn’t joking.
"What exactly happened, can you tell ?"
"There’s so things I can’t say. I can only tell you, I fell in love with soone I shouldn’t love. From the first mont I saw her, I fell deeply in love. But there’s no way I can ever be with her, no matter how hard I try. I’ve tried to talk myself out of it countless tis but couldn’t let it go. Now it’s different, I can finally let go."
"If you really can let go, then congratulations. But if you’re using this girl to forget the past, I’d look down on you!"
"Don’t worry, I’m not that kind of person. I’ve co back because I’ve completely figured it out."
"Your career is at its peak. If you get married, you might lose fans. Have you thought it through?"
"I’ve thought about it. I plan to teach in my hotown after getting married; I’ve got a teaching certificate. You know, I’m really not suitable for acting."
Joyina furrowed her brow slightly, "Are you willing to give up all this fa?"
"There’s nothing to be willing or unwilling about. None of this ever really belonged to ."
"But I’ll be unwilling! It was so hard for to nurture an actor like you. Now you’re leaving just like that. Have you thought about ?"
"Thank you for all you’ve done for over the years. I’m not just here to say goodbye. You’ve always been planning a movie, right? I’ll participate without pay as a form of thanks to you, and as a way to put a perfect end to my dreams of these past years."
Joyina scratched her head, "I was in a good mood today, but now it’s all gone because of you."
"I’m sorry!"
Joyina pouted, "No need to say sorry to ; everyone has the right to choose their own life. Since you’ve made this choice, all I can do is wish you well. Ke Jingran, will we still be friends in the future?"
"Of course!"
"That’s good! Ke Jingran, I’m curious, who did you fall in love with?"
Ke Jingran smiled bitterly, "I’ll never say that person’s na in my lifeti. Don’t ask again."
Joyina gave him a sidelong glance, "If you won’t say it, let guess, you fell in love with—!"
Ke Jingran burst out laughing.
Joyina punched him with a grin, "Is having a crush on such a loss?"
"No loss at all, I really did fall for you." Ke Jingran glanced out the car window cheerfully, "No kidding, looks like the car in front is Mi’s. You should get off, I just ca to tell you, call when filming starts. I’ll be in the capital for a while; she’s never been here, I’d like to show her around for a few days."
Joyina looked outside, "Your girlfriend is here! Why didn’t you bring her over? We could welco her."
Ke Jingran smiled gently, "She’s shyer than I am, so let’s leave it at that."
"That’s not right! I have ti before the eighteenth, let’s set a date." Joyina saw Mi Chenshuo’s car slowly approaching, rolled down the window, and waved at him. Turning to Ke Jingran, she said, "On the twentieth, when I return from Haotian, the film will start shooting. Don’t go disappearing on when you’re the lead actor."
"I won’t, I’ll definitely be there on ti." Ke Jingran saw Mi Chenshuo’s car stop and got out of the car.
Mi Chenshuo stuck his head out the window, sizing him up, "When did you get back?"
"Just now, ca over to tell Joy about sothing, I’m leaving soon."
Mi Chenshuo raised an eyebrow slightly upon seeing Joyina erge from Ke Jingran’s car, "All done?"
"All done." Joyina opened his car door and got in, "Ke Jingran, go back. Let’s schedule a al over the phone."
"Okay." Ke Jingran smiled, then only turned back to his own car after Mi Chenshuo’s car drove away.
Joyina kept watching him until he got into his car, then turned back around with a pout.
Mi Chenshuo frowned, "Why couldn’t you two talk at ho or in the office? Why did you have to run to the car?"
"His car was near our place, probably wanted to visit us," Joyina glanced at him, "Why did you co ho so early today?"
"If I didn’t, how would I see this?" Mi Chenshuo snorted sarcastically.
"What do you an? Looking for a fight?"
Mi Chenshuo rubbed his forehead, "Too lazy to argue! What did he tell you?"
Joyina glared at him angrily, "He’s getting married and plans to retire before he does. He’s been such a sourpuss, now we’ve lost a top talent. The market’s so competitive, yet you’re here being jealous instead of worrying about the future."
Mi Chenshuo laughed, "Haha... His contract’s expiring, even if he hadn’t decided to leave, I’d feel awkward asking him to go. Seems like he’s pretty self-aware."
Joyina pinched his thigh hard, "Do you actually care?"
Mi Chenshuo winced in pain, "It’s because I care so much that it’s painful. Honestly, since he joined our company, you only have eyes for him. What about ? I’m your actual husband!"
"I’m good to him because he benefited Luo-wa and he generated substantial profit for our company over these years. Plus, you’ve overestimated , he didn’t have feelings for because he already has soone in his heart!"
"Already has soone? The person he’s marrying?"
"No, soone else. He didn’t say, and I didn’t ask. Just pretend you don’t know about it."
"Haha... Soone else!" Mi Chenshuo laughed gloatingly.
Joyina reached out to pinch him again, but Mi Chenshuo quickly grabbed her hand, saying, "As long as the person he has a crush on isn’t you, then it’s fine. This guy should’ve told earlier instead of having jealous all this ti. You don’t know, every ti I saw him blush when he looked at you, I got angry."
Joyina shouted displeased, "He’s just shy!"
"A grown man being shy! Set a ti, I want to invite him to dinner and thank him for not being into my wife." Mi Chenshuo pinched her cheek, "If he isn’t into you, who else could it be?"
Joyina slapped his hand away, "Who he likes is none of your business! I’m telling you, you better keep this to yourself and not tell anyone!"
Mi Chenshuo gave a mischievous smile, "We’ll see."
"I’ll strangle you!"
Joyina pretended to choke him, and Mi Chenshuo laughed while pulling her into his arms.
"I’m just teasing you. Let’s talk about sothing serious. Isn’t your sister-in-law about to give birth? Should we bring Mianmian back, or let her stay in Beidi?"
