The Queen of Haotian answered the call, and before the person on the other end could speak, she started, "Joel, I heard you got injured. Is it serious?"
"I’m fine. I was afraid you’d worry about , so I called to let you know I’m okay."
The Queen of Haotian smiled, "As long as you’re okay."
"Still in Xiawu?"
"Mm, I want to spend more ti with the children. Randy has gone back and will handle things over there. If you need anything, you can talk to him."
"I don’t really need anything. I’ve decided to rest well these days. You know what they say—after surviving a disaster, good fortune cos knocking. Zhi Lan, what do you think? Do you reckon I’ll suddenly get lucky because of this?"
The Queen of Haotian chuckled helplessly, "The children are all with , you can’t be serious for once?"
"Ah! Then I won’t say more, lest the children laugh at . Goodbye!"
The busy tone ca through the phone, and the Queen of Haotian set the phone down with a touch of exasperation.
"Because he helped Xia Rou falsify evidence last ti, I ignored him for a long ti. This ti, even though I knew he was injured, I didn’t think of calling him. Sigh... I didn’t expect him to be the one to call first, which put in a tricky spot."
"If you didn’t call him, he wouldn’t have had grounds to complain. After all, you’re the Queen—you’re busy with countless affairs." Danton pouted slightly. "I used to like him a lot, but ever since that lie, I started disliking him."
Yi Luowa noticed her mother’s helpless expression and quickly gave Danton a aningful look. "Thankfully, he later confessed the truth. After all, he’s mom’s old friend—just don’t get involved."
Danton pouted, nodded silently.
The mother and children chatted for a while, and the Queen of Haotian, noticing her son-in-law’s restlessness, suggested everyone go to bed early.
Yi Luowa pouted and went back to her room. Tong Airui tried making small talk, but she didn’t respond.
Tong Airui spread his hands in grievance, "Why are you treating like this? Did I do sothing wrong?"
Yi Luowa snorted, "It’s all because of you. Otherwise, Mom wouldn’t have asked us to sleep so early."
Tong Airui showed her his phone, "It’s almost eleven o’clock. We have to get up early tomorrow to go to the hospital. Yesterday, none of us rested well. If we don’t sleep today, we’ll burn out. Danton and Mom aren’t in the best health—I’m thinking about them, and yet you’re mad at ?"
Yi Luowa pouted, walked to the wardrobe, took out her pajamas, and hurried into the bathroom.
Tong Airui stood there, frustrated, and smacked his forehead. "Yi Luowa, if you keep treating like this, I’ll run away from ho!"
Yi Luowa, who was filling the bathtub, burst out laughing, "Oh please! Try running away from ho if you dare!"
Tong Airui stord into the bathroom and scooped her up without saying a word.
Yi Luowa resisted, hitting him hard, "What nonsense are you up to now!"
"You have to pay for what you said!"
"The water’s still running."
"I don’t care!"
Poor Yi Luowa ended up getting completely wrangled, left with not even a shred intact because of one sentence...
The next morning, the slightly recovered Yi Luowa struggled with all her might to crawl out of Tong Airui’s embrace.
Just as she was about to climb out of bed, she was promptly pulled back by a hand.
"Sleep a bit more. The hospital doesn’t officially open until 8:30."
Yi Luowa glared at him, "Weren’t you the one saying we’d need to get up early?"
"I got the ti wrong."
Yi Luowa kicked him repeatedly under the covers, "It’s always your loose tongue, flipping back and forth—so annoying!"
"Lie down properly. I’ll tell you so good news."
"Is my dad ho already?"
"Lie down, or I won’t say."
Yi Luowa pouted and lay down. "Hurry up and spill!"
Tong Airui pressed a finger against her pouting lips and smiled, "Yuan Hang sent a text. Dad arrived safely at the palace at four in the morning."
Yi Luowa’s smile instantly curved into crescents. "As long as he’s ho safe! What about the plane? No problems along the way?"
Tong Airui’s brows knitted slightly, "The plane was shot down over the West Coast."
Yi Luowa grabbed his arm tightly, "Shot down? So there were ambushes! Doesn’t that an Dad might still be in danger now that he’s back?"
"Don’t worry about it, it’s fine." Tong Airui patted her lightly as if calming a child. "As long as he’s entered the capital, there’s nothing to worry about. Over the past 24 hours, the capital has been scoured thoroughly by Dark Soul and Da Peng—clean as a whistle.
The plane incident was sothing Dad and I planned. It was just to test the enemy’s capabilities. This clash confird that they’re definitely not a disorganized mob. However, they paid a heavy price this ti—their forces were completely wiped out."
Yi Luowa blinked her long curled lashes at him for a mont before propping herself up and planting a kiss on his cheek.
