"Ask what?" Tong Jiaqi's voice sounded right as Mai Shenglun's family and Tong Yehua and his mother entered the room.
After exchanging greetings with everyone, Ning Mingxi asked, "What did you want to ask just now?"
Tong Jiaqi smiled at his daughter and answered, "We want to ask who orchestrated the killer to target Yi Weiyang."
Ning Mingxi's face imdiately showed her irritation. She picked up her tea cup, took a sip, and said, "Those two bastards kept blaming each other. Later, we discovered Bai Bowen engineered the killing of Luo Xiaotong's first husband. Then we purposefully leaked this news to Luo Xiaotong. She completely lost it and exposed all the dirty deeds Bai Bowen had done over the years. The killer sent after Yi Weiyang was hired by him."
Yan Zi smirked. "I thought you said you only manage the archives and don't deal with cases?"
Ning Mingxi glared at her. "I do manage the archives! But Rui'er begged to step in. How could I say no? Once this case is finished, I'll head back."
Mai Shenglun spoke unhurriedly, "This case is very far-reaching in scope and has a terrible impact. It's already garnered attention from the higher-ups. They've specifically ford a task force for it, with as the team leader and Xixi as the deputy leader. After the case wraps up, Xixi will return to the archives."
Mai Zekai adjusted his glasses and muttered softly, "I thought no one in the family would be staying behind again."
Ning Mingxi gave her son's leg a light slap. "Staying behind for what? Neither you nor your father ever co ho on ti anyway!"
Tong Yehua laughed. "Sis, isn't Mom still here to keep you company?"
Ning Mingxi shot her brother a look. "You're no saint either. You said you'd join the military and up and left. We barely see you once a year because of that. And now that you're finally back, you're constantly running off sowhere. What have you been doing?"
"Aunt Xixi, Uncle has been with us," Ai Ni quickly chid in to defend her young uncle.
Ning Mingxi shook her head helplessly. "I used to wish for you all to grow up when you were kids. And now that you're grown, what good has it done? Everyone's gone their separate ways. Even wishing to see the whole family together feels like a luxury. Rui'er, how long can you stay here this ti?"
"About twenty days, I think." Tong Airui wasn't sure about the arrangents after the parade and gave a vague reply.
Yi Luowa lifted her gaze to look at him—for only twenty more days, and then he'd be gone.
