Danton smiled, "Reading books, browsing the internet. To stay alive, I do whatever the doctors say. Now that you’re back, I can finally be selfish and live for myself just once."
"Danton, what are you saying!" Queen Haotian hurried in, "Son, tell your mother, what do you an by you can live selfishly for yourself just once?"
"Mom, I’m just saying. Why are you so nervous?" Danton extended his overly pale hand to his mother.
Queen Haotian tightly grasped her son’s hand, "Tell , what kind of life do you want to live? Your father and I will do our best to make it happen."
Danton slightly raised an eyebrow, "With Dad, Mom, and my sister—just like now, all of us together as a family. That’s the life I want. If I could stand up, it would be even better."
"You silly child, the doctor said you will be able to stand." Queen Haotian lovingly stroked her son’s head, "When you’re feeling a little better, I’ll help you go outside for a walk."
"Go outside and walk..." A flicker of hope flashed in Danton’s eyes, "You and I, mother and son, floating in the moonlight—it would be such a beautiful scene."
"Brat!" Emperor Haotian laughed and scolded, "I’m having the doctors investigate the cause of your rashes. Once you recover, you’ll be able to stand in the sunlight."
"I’ve only been a burden to you all." A trace of sadness crossed the depths of Danton’s eyes.
Nancy tightly grasped Danton’s other hand, "Danton, even if you need a leg in the future, I’ll always stay by your side. Wherever you want to go, I’ll go with you."
"Thank you." Danton’s soft pink lips curled into a faint smile. His profile was truly beautiful—so hauntingly fragile it made hearts ache, a beauty even the wind wouldn’t dare disturb.
"You’re not allowed to say thank you to anymore! If you do, I’ll ignore you!" Nancy pouted angrily.
Danton chuckled and held Nancy’s hand tighter.
Queen Haotian looked at her son and daughter, smiled in relief.
Emperor Haotian’s dignified features softened into warmth as well.
...
This was the second ti Long Che and Tong Yao visited Haotian, and this ti, they had brought Luoyou.
Although Luoyou grew up in Haotian, she had always lived on the island base, so Haotian’s capital still filled her with curiosity.
Haotian’s Minister of Foreign Affairs escorted the three of them to the palace.
Emperor Haotian greeted them with a smile, "Pri Minister Long Che, you’re the last to arrive. You’ll be penalized with three drinks later!"
Long Che replied with a laugh, "My grandson and granddaughter just can’t bear to let leave. I had to sneak away."
Seeing his smug expression, Tong Yao inwardly scoffed at him. Recently, this man had been boasting about those kids wherever he went, as if those little ones at ho couldn’t survive without him.
"Truly enviable!" Emperor Haotian laughed as he led the couple to their guest room.
Luoyou followed closely behind with a straight face. She wasn’t only here for diplomatic purposes; she also needed to protect her uncle and aunt at all tis.
Emperor Haotian turned to glance at her. This little doll-faced girl was quite amusing—a tiny person forcing herself to act like an adult.
Luoyou’s purple-hued eyes sparkled montarily.
Tong Yao smiled and said, "Long Che and I are getting older, so we need soone to look after us. This is my niece-in-law—Luoyou."
Emperor Haotian’s mouth twitched slightly. Though Tong Yao and Long Che were over fifty, judging by their appearance, they looked barely over forty at most. If they were old, what did that make him—a relic?
"Hello, Emperor Haotian." Luoyou wasn’t particularly fond of him, but with a mission at hand, she rembered what her elder sister had instructed: even if it’s an act, you must play the role convincingly.
Emperor Haotian greeted her warmly, then led the group into the guest room.
Once inside, Queen Haotian and Nancy arrived from the other guests’ gathering. "Nancy, this is Pri Minister Long Che of Xiawu and Lady Tong Yao."
Nancy promptly curtsied, "Pri Minister Long Che, Lady Tong Yao, greetings to you."
Tong Yao imdiately helped her up, her eyes falling upon Nancy’s face, unable to look away. This Nancy looked entirely too much like Luowa!
Long Che cleared his throat.
Tong Yao snapped back to reality and smiled apologetically, "I was completely srized by Nancy."
Having their daughter admired, Emperor Haotian and Queen Haotian exchanged a glance, their smiles curving into joy.
Luoyou pursed her lips and mumbled inwardly, "She’s not prettier than my sister."
Tong Yao turned to look at her, "Luoyou, co and greet everyone."
Luoyou pouted and respectfully bowed to Queen Haotian and Nancy.
"And who might this be...?" Queen Haotian was clearly intrigued by the porcelain-like doll before her.
"Queen, I am Luoyou Carpenter Mi Bart. Though I doubt you’d rember sothing that long, just call Luoyou."
Queen Haotian chuckled, "Such a clever little girl. Do you have a husband yet?"
Emperor Haotian laughed and interjected, "Luoyou is Pri Minister Long Che’s niece-in-law. What do you think?"
Queen Haotian’s smile dimd slightly with disappointnt.
Tong Yao smiled and said, "Luoyou, why don’t you and Nancy go play? There’s no need to stay with us older folks."
Luoyou looked at Nancy and smiled, "Is that alright?"
Nancy warmly took Luoyou’s hand, "I’ll take you to try so desserts."
Watching them leave together, Tong Yao smiled and said to Queen Haotian, "Your goddaughter is truly beautiful!"
Queen Haotian glanced at her husband and smiled, "When we sent out invitations, we didn’t clarify—Nancy isn’t our goddaughter; she’s Randy and my biological daughter."
