"Duchess, since you’re not feeling well, I won’t disturb you any further." Mada Ruan left a gift and hurried off.
Kou’er saw her out, then ran back laughing, "Sister Yi, your acting was flawless."
Jimo Shanshan shot her a glare, "That wasn’t acting, it was real!"
Kou’er jumped in surprise, "For real? Why did you suddenly feel short of breath and panicky?"
Yi Luowa pouted, "For lying, for doing bad things—the babies are punishing ."
Kou’er wrinkled her nose and said, "Nonsense! With a wife like Ruan Dawang’s, how could we tell her the truth? Didn’t I stay in the back courtyard with you then? I often overheard the team gossip about how terrible she is. She relies on her status, always looking down her nose at people. With how tall she is, if she’s looking down her nose like that, who could even exist in her eyes?"
"Didn’t know you were such a gossiper!" Yi Luowa chuckled, grabbing a throw pillow and reclining on the sofa. "I’ll chat with you all while lying down. I know Mada Ruan is no good; she ca here to test the waters."
"Does she think it was the Duke who made Ruan Jiajia disappear?!" Kou’er frowned as she asked.
"Mm."
"No wonder she ca when the Duke wasn’t ho; she must think you’re young and easy to deceive, right?" Kou’er puffed out her cheeks angrily. "The Duke—what kind of man is he? How could he ever do sothing like that!"
Yi Luowa pressed her lips into a thin smile, thinking to herself, *Your Duke is far from innocent!*
anwhile, Mada Ruan had just gotten into her car and was driving away from the Duke’s estate when she called Ruan Dawang. "Dawang, this really isn’t sothing Tong Airui did."
"Couldn’t you tell at all?"
"Mm, Yi Luowa is just a child. No matter how scheming she is, she can’t hide it from my eyes. What she said aligns with what we already know. So far, they still don’t seem to realize what Jiajia has done. Just based on that, they don’t have any motive to harm Jiajia."
"As long as it’s not Tong Airui, Jiajia can still be saved. But we can’t count on him to genuinely help us find Jiajia. The rcenaries have already arrived. You should co back quickly; I’m about to head out with them."
Mada Ruan hung up the phone, then spat venomously, "Tong Airui, even though it wasn’t you who did this to Jiajia, our family’s downfall is still tied to you. I hope all your children are born ugly and cursed!"
Yi Luowa, lying on the sofa, suddenly turned pale when she overheard this.
Kou’er slamd her palm onto the coffee table. "Damn it! How can this woman be so malicious? She’s cursing for our young lady to be barren!"
Jimo Shanshan tugged on Kou’er’s sleeve, "Stop it, my fourth sister-in-law doesn’t like to hear that."
Yi Luowa pursed her lips and muttered, "When I think about it, I’m not even upset about what she said anymore. Think about it—if people like her and Ruan Dawang can have children with no issues, why should I be worried?"
"Exactly!" Kou’er puffed her cheeks, angrily shutting down her laptop.
Jimo Shanshan stared at the laptop for a long ti before finally asking slowly, "Kou’er, how did you do it?"
Kou’er extended her hand and lightly brushed Jimo Shanshan’s back. "Just like this—lightly touch, and the bug sticks to her clothes."
Jimo Shanshan asked worriedly, "What if she discovers it when she gets ho?"
Kou’er giggled, "Seventh sister-in-law, do you even know who I am? If she can find it, could I still stay in this line of work?"
"Stop bragging!" Yi Luowa glanced at her with a smile. "Different fields have different expertise. Shanshan doesn’t understand these things; you’re just bluffing her."
Jimo Shanshan tilted her head towards Yi Luowa. "Fourth sister-in-law, what’s the real story?"
Yi Luowa smiled and explained, "That eavesdropping device barely has any adhesive. A light touch, and it’ll fall off. If it falls in her car and goes undiscovered for twenty-four hours, it will dissolve on its own."
"Impossible to detect—it’s smaller than a grain of rice and it’s black. What’s there to fear?" Kou’er glanced at the laptop, "If you’re worried about being discovered, I’ll just listen in a little longer."
"No more listening, cut off the signal. Even if they find it, they won’t know who planted it."
"Then no more listening," Kou’er grabbed her laptop and dashed upstairs.
Once Kou’er was out of sight, Jimo Shanshan sighed deeply, "Technology these days is amazing!"
Yi Luowa’s lips twitched, "Sweetheart, your reaction ti is amazing too."
Jimo Shanshan turned to Yi Luowa, "Fourth sister-in-law, are you still feeling panicky?"
"Much better." Mada Ruan’s curse on her children didn’t bother Yi Luowa at all now. Thinking about Ruan Jiajia—she not only altered the test results but also planned to make her take safflower to force a miscarriage—Yi Luowa sneered. She had no guilt over soone so malicious.
When Kou’er ca back down, Yi Luowa instructed her to throw out all the supplents they’d received. She knew Mada Ruan wouldn’t dare poison her so overtly, but she still couldn’t risk eating anything that family sent.
A little after 4 PM, the whole family returned.
Long Che changed his clothes and headed out to record a New Year’s greeting, while Tong Airui prepared to leave for Shen Ying.
Yi Luowa pouted while buttoning his shirt, "How about not coming back tonight."
"I’ll be back. As soon as the clock strikes midnight, I’ll return." Tong Airui smiled and pressed her lips lightly. "Next New Year’s, our family will have two new mbers."
"Who knows how many more by the next New Year!" Yi Luowa laughed. "Third Brother, Fifth Brother, Ai Ni—it could be any of them."
"True." Tong Airui smiled. "Sweetheart, if you get tired tonight, just sleep. You don’t have to wait up for . Tomorrow, I’m off work and will sleep in with you as long as you want."
"I can sleep until ten; can you manage that?" Yi Luowa raised an eyebrow.
"I can sleep until ten the next day too." Tong Airui bent down and kissed her, "I’m off."
"Mm." Yi Luowa took his arm to walk him to the door.
Tong Airui gently touched her belly. "Babies, Dad’s leaving. Keep Mom company for ."
Yi Luowa smiled softly, fully believing the babies understood what he said.
Tong Airui stepped into his car, and just then, Kou’er ca running, handing him a USB drive. "Fourth Master, Sister Yi said to listen to this as a joke. She also said to make sure you treat it just as a joke!"
Tong Airui smiled wryly. If his wife made such a point, what was inside surely wouldn’t be funny.
As he listened to the recording in the car, his face grew dark.
Yuan Hang, equally incensed, exclaid, "That woman really has a death wish!"
Tong Airui gritted his teeth, "Yi just reminded to treat this as a joke."
"Sister Yi is way too patient."
"It’s not patience; she’s thinking of the children in everything she does now." Tong Airui’s expression tightened. "Playing it for was her way of updating on Ruan Dawang’s latest moves. For Ruan Jiajia, Ruan Dawang is going all in—he’s even hired rcenaries."
Yuan Hang snorted, "The old man sure has money to burn!"
Tong Airui smiled cryptically, "I bet King Muta would be very curious where Ruan Dawang is getting all this money from."
"Sir, why not just pass this straight to King Muta?"
"Ruan Dawang has offended plenty of people in Shen Ying. Whether we tell or not, soone will spill the beans."
Just as Tong Airui finished speaking, Colin called him. "Captain, did you know Ruan Dawang hired 100 rcenaries to find his daughter?"
"Just heard about it," Tong Airui replied, slightly furrowing his brows.
"Captain, aren’t you curious where he’s getting the money? One rcenary’s annual fee is 1.4 million Xia Witch Coins—he just hired a hundred! Imagine the cost!"
"Colin, what’s your plan?"
"Track his accounts! But I’ll need authorization for that."
"Fine! I’ll authorize you."
