"Ai Ni already made the wedding dress for us. If you don’t wear it, what a waste," Connie said with a smile. "Talk to my brother about it tonight."
"Mm, I’ll ask him tonight," Yi Luowa replied, rubbing her stomach. "I can’t take it anymore; I’m really hungry. I’m going to grab sothing to eat."
That evening, before Yi Luowa could bring up the matter with Tong Airui, he approached her first holding a newspaper.
"Take a look at this," Tong Airui said, handing her a flyer tucked inside the newspaper.
Yi Luowa glanced at it and imdiately tossed it back to him. "You’ve got so nerve, looking at this in front of Kou’er!"
"What’s the big deal? She thought I was reading the newspaper." Tong Airui grinned, leaning in closer. "Wifey, why don’t we buy one and try it out?"
"Absolutely not! If you dare buy it, we’re done!" Yi Luowa shot him a disdainful look. "Is this your way of saying you lack confidence?"
"What do you an, lack confidence? It’s just sothing to spice things up..."
Yi Luowa snatched the flyer, crumpled it into a ball, and threw it on the floor. "Go to sleep!"
"Wifey, you haven’t given an answer yet." Tong Airui shalessly leaned in again.
"You didn’t perform well today, so your privileges are suspended for the next few days!" Yi Luowa countered, giving him a push.
"Fine, I won’t buy it, alright?" Tong Airui grinned and inched even closer...
Exhausted from dealing with Tong Airui’s antics, Yi Luowa fell asleep as soon as her head hit the pillow, with no energy left to discuss the wedding. Naturally, she also forgot about Yuan Hang and Kou’er.
Early the next morning, while Tong Airui was heading out, he saw Yuan Hang by the car wearing oversized sunglasses, and Yun Jin by another car similarly dressed.
Tong Airui chuckled, looking at the two of them. "Are you guys trying to look cool?"
"Fourth Master, they’re too ashad to show their faces!" Mi SanSi said with a laugh as he opened the car door for Mi Chenshuo.
As soon as Mi Chenshuo sat down, Joyina hopped in right after him.
Yan Zi stood under the long corridor, glancing at them worriedly. She reminded them, "Drive safely!" before turning back into the hall.
Once inside, Yan Zi snatched the newspaper from Mi Xiaotian’s hands. "Joyina spent the night in your son’s room again!"
"I talked to Shuoshuo about it. He said nothing happened between him and Joyina. The poor girl was just scared," Mi Xiaotian said, reaching out for the newspaper.
Yan Zi quickly hid the paper behind her back. "How can you be so naïve? Fine for a day, fine for two, but if this goes on, what if sothing happens?"
Mi Xiaotian laughed. "Weren’t you eager to beco a mother-in-law? If sothing happens, perfect—she’ll marry him."
"Easier said than done. Your son is already twenty-six, and Joyina isn’t even eighteen yet. How many years do I have to wait before I can beco a mother-in-law?"
Mi Xiaotian sighed. "Stop worrying about nothing. They’re fine. Yesterday, Shuoshuo took Joyina to see a psychologist. The doctor said Joyina has a pathological dependency. Once she recovers, she won’t act like this anymore.
Yan Zi, to be honest, I’m really hoping Shuoshuo develops feelings for Joyina. If he takes an interest in another woman, it’ll prove he’s moved on from his last relationship. But look at Shuoshuo—he only sees Joyina as a child."
"So, you’re saying if Shuoshuo falls for Joyina, you wouldn’t oppose it?"
"Why would I oppose it? Joyina’s a good girl." Mi Xiaotian stood up and took the newspaper from Yan Zi’s hands. "I’ve made peace with it: children have their own paths, and it’s pointless for us elders to worry. By the way, don’t ntion Joyina’s condition to anyone. She doesn’t want to be treated like a patient; she’s a strong kid."
Yan Zi gave him a glare. "I really don’t understand what’s so fascinating about the newspaper. Hurry up and finish reading it! Once Mom and Third Uncle return from their walk, we’ll start the ga."
"Even the dullest newspaper’s better than those playing cards," Mi Xiaotian retorted, sitting back down and shaking open the paper.
Yan Zi sat across from him, puffing her cheeks in frustration. He read the paper, and she stared at him.
...
Tong Airui dropped Yi Luowa off at school before heading to the base.
Yuan Hang was unusually silent that day, making Tong Airui feel out of sorts. "What’s going on with you today? You haven’t said a word."
"Just trying to be a quiet, handso man."
Tong Airui glanced at Yuan Hang through the rearview mirror. Those sunglasses on his nose—could they be magical, turning the wearer into a different person?
"Let see your sunglasses."
Yuan Hang imdiately shook his head. "I can’t take them off. Didn’t you hear SanSi say I’m too ashad to show my face?"
Tong Airui’s lips twitched. "Will you keep wearing them in the afternoon? If the girls can’t even see your face, who’d want to talk to you?"
"If they see my face, they’d be even less likely to talk to ," Yuan Hang grumbled. "I’m going to settle this with them!"
"Who pissed you off?" Tong Airui asked, amused.
"Tong Yun Jin, Tong Kou’er, Tong Qing’er, and that idiot Mi SanSi!" Yuan Hang fud.
Tong Airui laughed. "Not bad! You managed to offend every remaining family mber!"
Yuan Hang, in frustration, took off his sunglasses. "Take a look, Fourth Master—this is Yun Jin’s handiwork!"
Tong Airui leaned over for a glance, taken aback before bursting into laughter. "You look like a panda. Yun Jin must be in even worse shape than you!"
Yuan Hang snorted. "If those guys hadn’t sided against , I could’ve knocked him into next week!"
Tong Airui shot him a disapproving look. "How did you two end up fighting?"
Still aggrieved, Yuan Hang replied, "Fourth Master, we’ve all been tricked by Yun Jin. That guy’s nothing but a well-dressed beast! You know how young Kou’er is, and he still has his eyes on her. I was too lenient on him!"
Tong Airui squinted slightly. "Who told you Yun Jin likes Kou’er?"
"Madam and Fifth Master did. That scumbag Tong Yun Jin—I confronted him, and he kept denying it over and over. If I don’t beat him up, I’m not Tong Yuanhang!"
Tong Airui smirked faintly. This fool was likely duped by Yi Luowa and Ai Ni. But even if Yun Jin really was interested in Kou’er, why was Yuan Hang reacting so strongly?
"I don’t care, Fourth Master. I’m not waiting anymore—I’m going to marry Kou’er!" Yuan Hang declared, his voice low and determined.
"What did you just say? Kou’er is still so young, and you already have designs on her! You’re the real well-dressed beast!" Tong Airui threw back the insult Yuan Hang had lobbed at Yun Jin.
"Fourth Master..."
Tong Airui gave him a piercing look. "Yuan Hang, I’m telling you, what you did was wrong. You might not be the oldest of the group, but everyone treats you like the leader. Fighting your own brothers over a woman—it’s just not right. And if you want to marry Kou’er, it’s not just up to you and ; you need to ask Kou’er how she feels about it."
Feeling a bit ashad, Yuan Hang admitted, "Fourth Master, I ssed up. I’ll call Yun Jin later and apologize."
Tong Airui patted him on the shoulder. "We’re all brothers; once you talk it out, it’s fine. The only good thing about all this is that you’ve been single for so long, and finally, you’ve co around. It’s ti for everyone to settle down."
"Watching how happy you are with Madam gave the idea," Yuan Hang said sincerely.
Tong Airui smiled with satisfaction.
As the car reached the base entrance, a petite figure suddenly darted out.
Yuan Hang slamd on the brakes and rolled down the window to yell, "Do you have a death wish?"
The young girl standing in front of the car giggled. "Yes, I ca to find you!"
Tong Airui frowned deeply and asked, displeased, "How did she find this place?"
Rembering the slap he had received yesterday, Yuan Hang ground his teeth. "Who knows how she tracked down? I ought to run her over!"
