"There won’t be any lasting complications, but about one ter of his small intestine was removed, so his absorption and digestion abilities will be a bit weakened." Mai Zekai glanced at him, "With sothing this dangerous, can’t you avoid sending him?"

Tong Airui furrowed his brow slightly. "Joining the Divine Eagle ans being ready to sacrifice at any ti. If I don’t send my brothers, soone else’s brothers will have to go."

"Virtue, my ass! Next ti, send instead! Just let die out there!" Mai Zekai said irritably. "Do you even know what I was feeling when I perford surgery on Old Eight? I wish the person lying on that operating table had been ."

Tong Airui tightened his lips and looked at him. "Do you think my feelings were any better?"

"Enough! Both of you, stop talking!" Tong Yao ca over. "You’re both exhausted. Get so rest early; I’ll stay to look after Xuanxuan."

Tong Airui quickly replied, "Mom, you and Dad go ho; I’ll stay here."

Mai Zekai gave him a disdainful look. "Look at your face—it’s pale as a ghost! What can you even do by staying here? Before Old Eight even recovers, you’ll probably faint first. And I’m telling you, if you faint, don’t expect to save you!"

Jimo Shanshan tugged at his sleeve. "Fourth Brother is already feeling terrible; why don’t you go easy on him?"

Mai Zekai yanked his hand away. "Take him away for ! I don’t even want to see him."

Jimo Shanshan looked at Tong Airui with evident difficulty.

Tong Airui shook his head. "I’m not leaving. I’ll have them clean up the ward next to Old Eight’s later; I’ll stay the night."

"I don’t want to end up rescuing two brothers at once. The state you’re in right now is completely unsustainable. Can’t you understand plain words?" Mai Zekai was genuinely angry as he pushed Tong Airui out forcibly. "You’re all going ho tonight. Shanshan and I will stay. If anything happens to Old Eight, I can handle it imdiately."

Long Che glanced at his son. In his current condition, it was indeed unsuitable for him to stay at the hospital. "Go ho, rest up, and co back early tomorrow."

Tong Airui gazed through the window for quite so ti at Mi Chenxuan, lying in the ward, but ultimately followed his parents ho.

Before they even got ho, Tong Yao had already instructed the kitchen to prepare a blood-replenishing soup for Tong Airui. After arriving, she carefully delivered the soup to his bedroom, avoiding disturbing others in the house.

Tong Airui lay on the bed fully dressed. When he saw his mother co in, he sat up.

"Drink the soup and then sleep." Tong Yao looked at her son with concern. "Where’s Luowa?"

Yi Luowa erged from the bathroom holding a freshly washed towel. "Mom."

"Luowa, the soup is here. Keep an eye on him; make sure he finishes it before he sleeps."

"Got it," Yi Luowa answered softly, pulling Tong Airui’s hand and wiping it for him. "Mom, you go rest now. I’ll clean him up and make sure he drinks the soup."

Tong Yao sighed upon seeing her son’s tired and lifeless appearance, then turned and left the room.

After wiping his hands, Yi Luowa picked up the bowl of soup and gently blew on it. "Honey, when Old Eight wakes up tomorrow, just tell Aunt the truth about what happened. You can’t hide this forever. Whether she hits you or scolds you, I’ll face it with you."

"If Aunt could just hit or scold , I’d actually feel better. I’m afraid she’ll cry." Tong Airui glanced at the clock, reached for the bowl, and downed the soup in one gulp. "You’ve got school tomorrow; go to bed early. Don’t worry about Old Eight—I can handle it."

"Don’t bla yourself too much. This wasn’t entirely your fault." Yi Luowa helped him out of his clothes and, seeing he still hadn’t lied down, forcefully pushed him onto the bed.

Tong Airui stared at her without expression. "Can’t you be a little gentler?"

"What, I’m not gentle?" Yi Luowa pouted. "I’m way gentler than you! How many tis have you thrown onto the bed? You’ve forgotten, huh?"

Tong Airui curled his lips faintly. "Throwing you was because you were too mischievous, always trying to run away."

Yi Luowa pursed her lips and climbed onto the bed from the other side. "Honey, I won’t upset you anymore. You’re so pitiful today. I feel awful for you."

Tong Airui let out a wry laugh. "Honestly, I don’t deserve pity at all. It’s my own lack of foresight—I didn’t account for the unexpected."

"Where did Old Eight get hurt? Never mind... don’t answer; I know it’s classified." Yi Luowa turned off the bedside lamp and snuggled closer to Tong Airui.

Tong Airui held her in his arms, his voice hoarse. "Haotian."

Yi Luowa froze slightly, then decided not to continue the topic. "Sleep. Tomorrow’s another early day."

The next day, Yi Luowa and Tong Airui woke up early. When they arrived at the hospital, Mi Chenxuan still hadn’t regained consciousness.

Yi Luowa waited until it was almost ti for her class before she left.

As soon as she left, Mi Chenxuan woke up and glanced at Tong Airui, who was standing by the bed. He smiled. "Fourth Brother, seeing you ans I must still be alive."

"I’m not your Fourth Brother. I’m King Yan," Tong Airui joked, his mood lightened by Mi Chenxuan’s recovery. He even managed so humor.

Mi Chenxuan smirked. "Well, that’s a letdown! So that’s why you’re so pale. Turns out you’re King Yan. King Yan, help check how much ti I’ve got left."

"You’ve already co to my realm; do you think you still have ti left?"

Mi Chenxuan rolled his eyes, then his expression turned serious. "Fourth Brother, I’m sorry—I’ve shad you."

Tong Airui lightly patted his face. "Sha doesn’t scare . Losing your life does. I haven’t even had the guts to tell Aunt what happened to you."

"Don’t tell them. I can’t bear that embarrassnt!" Mi Chenxuan said, glancing at the approaching Mai Zekai. "Seventh Brother, how long do I have to stay here before I can leave?"

"Given your condition, you’ll be here for at least the next year or so," Mai Zekai said slowly, adjusting his glasses.

"Say that again!" Mi Chenxuan glared at him.

"I could say it a hundred tis if you want. Have you ever seen soone who’s gone through such major surgery, just woken up, and already yapping non-stop like you?"

"My stomach’s hurt, not my mouth," Mi Chenxuan retorted with a huff.

"What does the person who hurt you look like? I’ll avenge you!" Tong Airui demanded darkly.

Mi Chenxuan hesitated for a mont. "Fourth Brother, you all think that little girl’s the one who hurt , don’t you?"

Tong Airui froze. Wasn’t it her?

Mi Chenxuan laughed bitterly. "When Dabinzi and the others found , I’d already fainted and hadn’t had ti to explain. That little girl, she did subdue , but she didn’t intend to kill . My injuries ca from the people who arrived afterward. Those people and the girl seed to know each other. They argued—she said to spare while they insisted on killing . In the end, she got angry and fought with them. That gave a chance to escape. Otherwise, I’d probably already be gone."

Mai Zekai adjusted his glasses again. "If there’s one thing Airui seems to have taught you lot well, it’s how to escape. Injured this badly, and you still managed to run. Impressive!"

Tong Airui and Mi Chenxuan simultaneously shot him four daggers with their eyes.

Mai Zekai smirked, walked closer to the bed, and said, "Fine, I won’t joke around anymore. I need to give you a check-up."

Mi Chenxuan closed his eyes, letting Mai Zekai prod him around. When the examination was finished, Mi Chenxuan finally said to Tong Airui, "Fourth Brother, the island may seem peaceful, but the reality isn’t like that."

Tong Airui nodded. "I know. They told . You should talk less and rest more."

"Did they give you the map?"

"They did, but I haven’t had ti to look at it yet."

"This is the most detailed map we’ve ever had. We didn’t even leave out the latrines."

Mai Zekai scowled at them. "Could you two say one less sentence? Would it kill you?"

"Xuanxuan..." Yan Zi entered just in ti to hear the word "kill", which frightened her terribly. She rushed in panicked.

Tong Airui glanced at Yan Zi and lowered his head in guilt.
