"Captain..." Old Dao grinned, unsure how to respond to such a remark.

Ruan Jiajia erged from behind Old Dao with a serious expression. "Captain, for treating Madam, I think it’d be more appropriate to have a female doctor."

Tong Airui shot her a cold glare. "Get out!"

Ruan Jiajia’s eyes reddened and she turned around, fleeing the room.

Tong Airui narrowed his eyes dangerously. "Old Dao, rember this—she has no place in the back garden!"

Old Dao lowered his head in sha. "I’m sorry, I won’t bring anyone here for no reason again."

Yi Luowa gave Tong Airui a suspicious look. Last ti he saw Ruan Jiajia, his attitude wasn’t great, but it wasn’t this hostile either. Why does he dislike her so much? There’s definitely sothing behind this!

Old Dao gestured to the room door. "Can I go in?"

Tong Airui glanced at him sidelong. "Co in."

Old Dao chuckled, carrying his dical kit with him as he entered. "Let’s asure the temperature first."

Tong Airui blocked Old Dao’s view with his body, took the thermoter from Yi Luowa’s armpit, and handed it over to Old Dao.

Old Dao checked it. "Thirty-eight point four degrees. I’ll listen to the lungs to check for inflammation."

Seeing Old Dao take out a stethoscope, Tong Airui snatched it away, held the diaphragm head himself, and shoved the earpieces into Old Dao’s ears.

Old Dao’s mouth twitched. "Captain, are you sure you know the correct position?"

"I’m quite familiar with basic knowledge!" Tong Airui ward the diaphragm head with his hand before slipping it into Yi Luowa’s clothes.

Yi Luowa stared at him speechlessly.

Old Dao was equally speechless, but fortunately, Tong Airui really did know the correct placent. The stethoscope was positioned accurately, and Old Dao soon heard the lung sounds. "Switch to the other side."

Tong Airui quickly moved the stethoscope to the opposite side.

After listening for a while, Old Dao removed the stethoscope. "The lungs aren’t infected; the trachea has so inflammation. Do you want injections or dicine?"

"Whichever works faster?" Tong Airui asked Yi Luowa for her opinion.

Yi Luowa pouted. "I don’t want injections. They hurt."

"Then dicine?" Tong Airui lovingly stroked her forehead. "We need to bring down the fever first. The inflammation in the trachea could spread to the lungs, and that would be a bigger problem."

Yi Luowa looked pitifully at Old Dao. "Can you give dicine that isn’t bitter?"

Tong Airui helplessly smiled. "You got injured twice before, but you didn’t complain about injections or dicine. Why the sudden change now?"

Yi Luowa pouted again. "During my first injury, my family mbers were hurt worse than I was. During the second injury, you weren’t around. Even if I was scared of pain and bitterness, there was no one to tell."

Tong Airui’s eyes darkened slightly. So all along, her so-called toughness was just a mask—to avoid burdening her family or distracting him.

"Most dicine these days isn’t bitter." Old Dao gazed deeply at Yi Luowa before pulling several boxes of dicine from his kit and placing them on the bedside table. "Follow the instructions when taking them. If anything happens, call . No matter how late, I’ll answer."

"Thank you, Dr. Dao." Yi Luowa smiled and waved at Old Dao.

Once Old Dao left, Tong Airui quickly read the instructions, took out three types of dicine, and prepared to give them to Yi Luowa, but paused midway. "Sothing’s not quite right... These should be taken after als. You’ve rattled so much I’ve lost my focus."

Yi Luowa threw back the covers and sat up. "It’s just a little cold! Why are you so worked up?"

"Why are you getting up?"

"I’m going to eat. Aren’t you hungry?"

Tong Airui gently pushed her back down. "Lie down properly. I’ll go downstairs and bring the food up."

Tong Airui went downstairs and quickly returned with a tray of food.

Although Yi Luowa didn’t have much of an appetite, she forced herself to eat half a bowl out of concern for his feelings. Putting down her chopsticks, she said, "Let’s sleep in separate rooms tonight?"

Tong Airui frowned unhappily. "What are you trying to do?"

"I’m afraid of passing my illness to you."

"With my strong constitution? Impossible." Tong Airui cleaned up briefly, kicked off his shoes, and climbed into bed. "I need to keep an eye on you."

Yi Luowa sighed softly. "I ca here to take care of you, but..."

"I don’t need you to take care of . Just take care of yourself." Tong Airui smiled and pinched her nose. "Get well soon. Once you’re recovered, you owe compensation."

Yi Luowa pouted. "How do I compensate?"

"Take a day off from fighting and compensate double. Figure it out yourself." Tong Airui glanced at the clock with a smile. "Twenty-five minutes until you can take the dicine."

As for Tong Airui’s earlier hostility toward Ruan Jiajia, Yi Luowa had asked him about it, and his response was that she just annoyed him. Furthermore, the back garden wasn’t a place anyone could casually visit.

Could the back garden have so sort of secret? Yi Luowa took advantage of Tong Airui’s absence to look around but found nothing unusual. The matter ended in confusion.

The festive atmosphere in Sumr Witch wasn’t as strong as it was in Z Country, but the Duke’s estate started decorating early.

After staying in the back garden for half a month, Yi Luowa moved back ho with Tong Airui. Upon entering, she saw red lanterns hanging throughout the yard.

"It’s so cheerful looking!" Yi Luowa laughed playfully. Although she and her second uncle celebrated the New Year, it was mostly just the two of them—nothing this lively.

Teng Ai Ni ca downstairs. Seeing the two of them return, she ran over quickly. "You two are finally back!"

"What’s wrong?" Tong Airui furrowed his brows. Surely there wasn’t another incident?

"Third Brother is stuck in Beidi and can’t co back!" Teng Ai Ni said worriedly.

"Huh?" Tong Airui froze.

"How could sothing like this happen?" Yi Luowa quickly pulled out her phone and scrolled through for Joyina’s number.

"Sister-in-law, what are you doing?" Teng Ai Ni peeked at her phone.

"Looking for Joyina to ask her to help rescue Third Brother."

Teng Ai Ni clutched her stomach, laughing. "Don’t bother; she’s the one behind all of this!"

Tong Airui relaxed slightly. "Speak properly. What’s really going on?"

Yi Luowa frowned at Teng Ai Ni. "Is this Joyina’s doing?"

"Yep!" Teng Ai Ni nodded. "I only just found out. The cargo ship she detained was released once Third Brother arrived in Beidi."

"The ship is already released. So why is Third Brother still held there?" Tong Airui asked in confusion.

Teng Ai Ni laughed. "Joyina let the ship go on the condition that Third Brother stay in Beidi with her for seven days. Third Brother agreed. But after the seven days were up and he wanted to leave, she ca up with another demand—that she beco his personal assistant. Third Brother refused, so she detained him again."

Tong Airui looked at her disdainfully. "You seem oddly happy about Third Brother being detained."

"Haha... Because I know Third Brother won’t be in any real danger!"

Yi Luowa pursed her lips. "That cheeky girl—is it possible she has feelings for Third Brother?"

Teng Ai Ni patted her shoulder with a laugh. "Absolutely!"

"You need to tell stories seriously next ti. I was misled into thinking sothing terrible had happened to Third Brother!" Tong Airui shot his sister a displeased look and settled Yi Luowa onto the couch.

Teng Ai Ni pouted. "When Fifth Brother told about this, it was just like that—scaring first and then surprising . I couldn’t possibly be the only one to feel the shock!"

Tong Airui snorted, "What a troubleso pair! What’s Fifth Brother’s plan for handling it?"

Teng Ai Ni grinned. "Fifth Brother said to leave it alone! Even if Joyina forced Third Brother, he wouldn’t intervene."

Tong Airui nodded in approval. "He’s right! That’s how brothers should be."

Yi Luowa’s mouth twitched. This family is thoroughly unreliable!

"Where is everyone else?" Yi Luowa asked, puzzled by the absence of others in the manor apart from Teng Ai Ni.

"Auntie has been in tears upstairs. Everyone’s comforting her. I ca downstairs to get Auntie so water when I coincidentally saw you both return."

Yi Luowa sighed. "You get Auntie her water; I’ll call Joyina and find out what she’s really thinking!"

"If you ask , Third Brother should just agree for now, bring her back here, and deal with her here." Tong Airui raised an eyebrow. "Once she’s on our turf, she’ll be at our rcy."

Yi Luowa pouted. "Tricking people isn’t right."

"She tricked Third Brother into coming over first, didn’t she?" Tong Airui said indignantly.

"Do you still want to do business with Beidi?" Yi Luowa shot him a glare.

"Business depends on Third Brother and Fifth Brother’s decisions... Forget it, I won’t get involved. Go ahead and call Joyina to ask her."
