Yi Luowa quietly let him hold her. After last night’s intense battle, she felt that they were closer now, so close that even their heartbeats seed in sync.
Tong Airui rarely got a nap during the day and fell asleep in a daze.
"Beep beep..." This ti it was Tong Airui’s phone that rang.
Yi Luowa glanced at the unresponsive Tong Airui and carefully wriggled out of his arms.
Just as she was about to sit up, Tong Airui pressed her back down onto the bed. "I’ll answer it."
"I still woke you up..." Yi Luowa looked at him with a tinge of heartache.
Tong Airui shook his head. "I don’t sleep well during the day anyway."
He reached for his phone and glanced at the screen. "Old Seven, what do you want?"
Tong Airui’s voice carried a lazy rasp from just waking up. Maizekai hesitated for a mont before speaking. "Fourth Brother, I was in such a rush that I couldn’t find Fourth Sister-in-law’s number. Could you ask her to call Jimo Shanshan, that crazy woman? Tell her to hurry up and leave, and stop making a scene here."
"Why can’t you handle it yourself?" Tong Airui frowned in dissatisfaction.
"The problem is, no matter what I say, she doesn’t listen! I was discussing a surgery case with a few senior sisters when she barged in, plopped down, and asked who ca to et for a blind date. I’ve never been this humiliated before."
"Weren’t you there for a blind date?"
"Blind date my ass. Dr. Hong jokingly said he’d introduce his sister to , and sohow, soone told her about it. It was just a joke, but she took it seriously with her blockheaded logic."
"Your fourth sister-in-law is sleeping and has no ti to deal with your nonsense! I’m hanging up!" Tong Airui said, about to end the call.
"Fourth Brother, wait! Don’t hang up. How is this nonsense? I’m working on a rare case brought here by my senior sisters, but with her causing such a fuss, I can’t even focus on the research."
Tong Airui rubbed his temples. "Then let her sit there and listen. Once she understands, she’ll stop causing trouble."
"Heartless! I’m hanging up!" Maizekai slamd the phone down in frustration and stord into the café.
What’s going on!? Just a mont ago, everyone had looked stern and unapproachable. Now, they were all buddy-buddy and laughing.
Jimo Shanshan glanced at him briefly before looking away. She then addressed one of the older won in the group, "Senior Sister, so it’s settled then. Once you’re finished with your discussions, give the honor of treating you all to a al."
The senior sister smiled and looked over at Maizekai. "Ze Kai, see? Your girlfriend is far more generous than you are."
"She’s not my girlfriend." Maizekai adjusted his glasses and sat down lazily. "Now, where were we?"
"Minimally invasive surgery," Jimo Shanshan reminded him.
Maizekai glanced up at her. "You’re an internal dicine doctor. Why are you ddling in external surgery discussions? Go back to work!"
"I’m treating the senior sisters to dinner. Don’t worry, I promise I won’t disturb you," Jimo Shanshan said, taking a slow sip of her coffee.
The senior sister exchanged glances with the second and third senior sisters, and all three burst into laughter.
"What’s so funny? Get on with your research!" Maizekai said while skimming the patient’s file again. "This patient’s case is at Xiawu. How about I go there? I need to reexamine the patient to decide whether surgery is an option."
The senior sister teased him, "Didn’t you refuse to go last ti? Now suddenly, you want to? If you’d said so earlier, we wouldn’t have made this trip here. The professor said this patient is a case only you can handle."
"Didn’t I just get back from Xiawu? Taking leave too often might draw criticism from above."
"Go ahead, I’ll request leave on your behalf," Jimo Shanshan remarked nonchalantly, placing her cup down.
"Can’t I speak for myself?" Maizekai shot her an irritated look.
With a pleasant smile, Jimo Shanshan replied, "Fine, you go ask yourself. If they don’t grant it, I’ll help you out."
Maizekai stoically declared, "I wouldn’t dare trouble you."
The senior sister kicked him hard under the table.
Maizekai bent down in slow motion, brushing off his pants gently. "I’ll request leave right after lunch."
The third senior sister rolled her eyes. "I seriously doubt your girlfriend has working eyesight. If she did, there’s no way she’d take an interest in you!"
"For the last ti, she’s not my girlfriend!" Maizekai reiterated.
"Keep bragging! The day Shanshan becos the mother of your child, we’ll book you an appointnt at urology!" The third senior sister scoffed at him.
"Haha... Forget urology! We’ll save the trouble and just snip him clean ourselves," the second senior sister joked, patting Jimo Shanshan on the shoulder. "Shanshan, make sure you don’t feel bad when the ti cos!"
Jimo Shanshan gave a shy smile. "I suppose I’d feel a little bad."
The three senior sisters erupted into laughter.
Maizekai pointed accusingly at Jimo Shanshan. "Did you take the wrong ds today or sothing?"
"The pills you left by my bedside this morning–I’ve taken them all," Jimo Shanshan blushed slightly. "As long as you placed the right ones, I wouldn’t have taken the wrong ones."
Hearing this, Maizekai’s three senior sisters stood up as one, shouting their battle cries, and gave him a good thrashing.
Jimo Shanshan sat across the table, watching with a cheerful, vengeful grin. Haha! Finally, soone was giving her payback!
"Maizekai, you and Shanshan are already living together. And you’re still asking us to find you a girlfriend? How do you think Shanshan feels about this? No wonder she ca chasing after you!" the third senior sister said, landing another smack on him.
Seeing the situation escalate, Jimo Shanshan intervened just in ti. She watched as the second senior sister raised her hand, then hurriedly hugged her, "Senior Sister, let’s all calm down. When Maizekai asked you for girlfriend recomndations, we weren’t a couple yet. Now that we are, he won’t bring it up again."
Maizekai, shielding his head, slowly lifted his eyes to look at her.
Jimo Shanshan raised her brows mischievously at him.
Maizekai shouted loudly, "Since when have we been together? Stop ruining my reputation!"
"Hit him!" The third senior sister fud, "This kind of thing always disadvantages the girl. Shanshan’s not complaining, but you’re getting all smug instead!"
"Third Senior Sister, stop hitting him. We still need him for that surgery. I’ll take you all out for the al," Jimo Shanshan said as she forcibly dragged both sides apart.
"Jimo Shanshan! I won’t let you get away with this!" Maizekai exclaid in frustration. But at this point, no one believed him anymore. No sooner had he finished shouting than the senior sister grabbed his ear on their way out.
"Senior Sister, you shouldn’t believe what she says..."
"Maizekai, I misjudged you! Turns out you’re so irresponsible!"
"Senior Sister, I... I..." Maizekai was so wronged he could barely form a sentence.
"’I’ nothing! Quickly, let’s go catch up to Shanshan."
Maizekai was dragged out of the café by the senior sister, lanting, "I was only gone for a little while, but Jimo Shanshan’s already brainwashed you all!"
The senior sister shot him a look. "She didn’t brainwash us. We could all see her heart is set on you alone."

After lunch, Tong Airui was explaining to Yi Luowa the material for her afternoon class when both their phones rang simultaneously.
It was calls from Jimo Shanshan and Maizekai!
The two exchanged a look. Tong Airui picked up his phone and stepped out, while Yi Luowa sat on the bed to answer Jimo Shanshan’s call.
After just a few words, both Yi Luowa and Jimo Shanshan were giggling too much to continue the conversation.
Poor Maizekai, anwhile, was speaking bitterly to Tong Airui with a sour expression.
Tong Airui rely muttered "Mm-hm" absentmindedly, suppressing the urge to scold him outright. However, seeing how pitiful he was, Tong Airui opted for patience.
"Fourth Brother, is this how you treat your friends? Look at ! I’m in this state, and you’re just brushing off?"
Tong Airui chuckled. "And what state are you in exactly?"
"I’ve lost my dignity! And what’s worse, I didn’t even do anything, yet my dignity is gone!"
"Do you know what I’d do if I were in your situation?"
Maizekai scratched his ear. "What would you do?"
"I’d go all in! Turn the rumor into reality!"
Maizekai let out a dismissive "Tch." "Your advice? Not worth considering! By the way, send Fourth Sister-in-law’s number. I swear I saved it, but it’s nowhere to be found."
Tong Airui chuckled softly. "Could it be you accidentally deleted it?"
Maizekai scratched his head. "Fourth Brother, that laugh just now... repeat it for . Exactly as it was."
"Why?"
"I heard a sinister undertone. Are you the one who ’helped’ delete Fourth Sister-in-law’s number?"
Tong Airui laughed again. "Do I seem that bored?"
"You’re the king of boredom!"
Tong Airui smirked. "I’m in a good mood today, so I won’t argue with you. I suggest you go sacrifice your dignity right now!"
Fuming, Maizekai abruptly hung up on Tong Airui.
To his credit, Maizekai wasn’t the type to let things go. He started calling all his buddies one by one, only to find they all had the sa issue—Yi Luowa’s number had mysteriously disappeared from their phones.
"I can’t believe Fourth Brother hacked our phones! The more he doesn’t want us to call Yi Luowa, the more we’ll call her," Mi Chenshuo complained with a furrowed brow. "Ai Ni still has her number. I’ll get it from her and share it with you all. We’ll all take turns calling."
Maizekai grinned. "Good plan!"
And so, Yi Luowa’s phone didn’t get a mont’s peace for the rest of the afternoon. One call after another, so answered and so deliberately ended, only for the next call to imdiately follow.
Yi Luowa looked at Tong Airui helplessly. "What do they want?"
"They’re asking for trouble!" Tong Airui replied, grabbing Yi Luowa’s phone and decisively shutting it off. "You go study for a bit. I’ll handle this."
Tong Airui wasn’t gone for more than ten minutes before all those guys’ phones started crashing from being overloaded with calls.
