"Now that you ntion it, you really reminded !" Yi Weiyang said with a laugh, "Connie, thank you!"
"I’m Luowa’s friend, and you’re her second uncle, which makes you my second uncle too." Connie chuckled, "Would you like so water? I’ll grab it for you."
Mo Shanshan shook her head, "Saving lives is our duty. They wouldn’t call unless it was serious."
Yi Luowa facepald, "If you know it, then why not speed up?"
"So you want to humble him a bit?" Yi Luowa pouted and asked.
Mo Shanshan slowly picked up the ice pack and placed it back over her eyes, "So you’re saying I should be the one to relent?"
"So I should shalessly pursue soone who doesn’t love just for that?" Mo Shanshan chuckled as she grabbed a piece of dical gauze and wiped Yi Luowa’s nose.
"Second Uncle, you’re so thoughtful toward Luowa. You always put her first." Connie smiled as she adjusted Yi Weiyang’s blanket.
"In my line of work, human lives are at stake—you can’t afford to be sloppy. When I was younger, I could be quicker, but now I’ve just gotten slower and slower." Mo Shanshan gently placed the ice pack on Yi Luowa’s swollen eyelids. Seeing her shiver from the cold, she burst into laughter, "Luowa, does Dr. Mai’s family think poorly of ?"
Yi Luowa rubbed her itchy nose, "Nah, it must be Tong Aino talking bad about behind my back!"
Mo Shanshan noticed her urgency and laughed, "Getting impatient? My personality is just unstoppable, isn’t it? Everyone who sees feels rushed! Haha..."
Yi Luowa nodded. She also agreed it was better to take Mo Shanshan for imaging first.
"Well, let prepare an ice pack for you. It might feel a bit uncomfortable at first, but you’ll have to bear with it..."
Yi Weiyang nodded with a smile, "Airui is really very good to Luowa!"
Mo Shanshan nodded, "I can’t stand people putting on airs in front of ."
Mo Shanshan shook her head with a laugh, "If I do, what about Tong Airui? When he gets back, he’d probably kill !"
Yi Luowa sighed, "Well, to put it bluntly, my parents—oh, that’s your fourth uncle and aunt—actually have a pretty good impression of you. Aunt Xixi didn’t criticize you either. My eldest uncle hasn’t shared his thoughts. The issue lies with Old Seven himself—you want to bring him down, and he wants to bring you down. If neither of you makes a concession, you’ll just keep locking horns."
"I like you too—you made a strong first impression. You’re genuine, unpretentious. There aren’t many girls like you nowadays."
"Send to the ergency room first—they’ve got critical patients," Mo Shanshan said painfully as she settled into the wheelchair.
"Second Uncle, don’t worry about a thing. My sister-in-law is more beloved in our family than I am. And you haven’t seen how protective my brother gets over his wife—it’d reassure you completely." Tong Aino said as he stood up, stretching after sitting for too long.
"No way!" Yi Luowa sniffled, "Shanshan, I know you don’t like calling Tong Airui Fourth Uncle. So why don’t you chase Old Seven? Then you can call Tong Airui Fourth Brother instead."
Mo Shanshan laughed at herself, "Not at all? My dad even got a call saying their family thinks we’re too rich, and that Mai Ze-kai isn’t a good match for . But those are just excuses—they simply didn’t take a liking to . Ever since I was fifteen, there’ve been plenty of people pursuing , but I’ve never been moved by any of them. My brother and sister are married already, and I was so scared of being pressured by the family to marry that I left the country. Just three days after I returned, I t Mai Ze-kai. For the first ti, I felt sothing... but then got rejected."
"What actions?" Mo Shanshan asked with a smile.
Mai Ze-kai’s lips twitched, "I’m heading to the outpatient now."
Mo Shanshan took a deep breath. Unable to hold it in, she looked up at him and yelled, "Can you not mock for just one second?!"
"No, no, sit down and rest for a bit." Yi Weiyang smiled warmly, "Honestly, I’ve been resisting the idea of getting a prosthetic because it feels like it’s not part of . But now that you’ve brought it up, I actually feel kind of eager to get one. I want to practice walking smoothly before Luowa’s wedding—can’t let my condition impact the aesthetics of her big day."
Standing outside the door the whole ti, Mai Ze-kai listened to their conversation, pursed his lips, and turned back to his office. Just as he walked in, his phone rang.
Yi Luowa froze and looked up at Mai Ze-kai, who was standing there stunned, "Old Seven, what should we do?"
Mo Shanshan shifted slightly in the wheelchair, "It doesn’t seem to hurt that much anymore—I might have misjudged."
"You know better than I do." Yi Luowa grinned, "Honestly, I quite like you, too. If only you could be quicker, I’d like you even more."
Mai Ze-kai shot her an annoyed look, "So even the great Dr. Mo can make a misdiagnosis!"
Mo Shanshan started rambling on, and Yi Luowa stared eagerly at the ice pack in her hand, feeling impatient. She wanted to say, "Hurry up already—wait any longer and the ice will lt!"
"You sneaky thing!" Yi Luowa laughed out loud, "Don’t try to deny it—you might not realize your own feelings yet, but your actions have already betrayed you."
"Then let’s be together!" Yi Luowa laughed gleefully.
Mo Shanshan saw tears welling up again and quickly patted Yi Luowa’s hand, "Cry more, and your eyes will get even puffier. When Tong Airui cos back, he won’t find you as pretty anymore."
"I..." Mai Ze-kai glanced around, grabbed a wheelchair from behind the door, and bent down to pick up Mo Shanshan, "Let’s take you for an X-ray to see if your tailbone is fractured."
"Achoo!" Yi Luowa, lying in the hospital bed, sneezed suddenly.
Yi Luowa’s face lit up with a blissful smile, "My Fourth Brother is a good guy—he’d never do that."
"I’ll handle the patients!" Mai Ze-kai frowned slightly, "What’s more important—the patients or your health?"
Mo Shanshan quickly waved her hand, "Don’t help . I think I might have fractured my tailbone."
"Luowa is such a good kid, but her life hasn’t been easy. eting all of you is her fortune. I believe her future life will only get better and better." Yi Weiyang chuckled aloud as he envisioned Yi Luowa’s future, his heart growing sweeter with each thought.
"I’m just giving you my analysis—if it’s true love, whether you make concessions or he does doesn’t really matter." Yi Luowa pouted again, "If you got together with Old Seven, it’d be great—work together, co ho together. Shanshan, do you know I feel so lost and aimless when Tong Airui’s away? The mont I have free ti, I just start thinking about him..."
Mo Shanshan froze, "Did you catch a cold?"
Yi Luowa replied with a smile, "No, not at all!"
"Alright, I’ll be right there!" Hearing about the patient, Mai Ze-kai bolted out the door. He was in such a hurry that he bumped into Mo Shanshan, who was just stepping out.
Yi Luowa adjusted the ice pack and squinted up at her, "Shanshan, do you really like Old Seven?"
Yi Luowa, lying in bed, heard the loud "thud" and quickly took off her ice pack to jump down. Seeing Mo Shanshan still sitting on the floor, she rushed to help her up.
"How are you supposed to save lives in this state?" Mai Ze-kai turned to Yi Luowa, "Fourth Sister-in-law, help take her to the X-ray room. I’ll go check on the outpatient situation."
"I admire his determination and ticulousness in academics, and his innovative spirit. But as for him as a person, I don’t like him all that much—he’s even slower than and so full of himself."
The voice of an anxious nurse from the outpatient clinic ca through, "Dr. Mai, please co to the ergency room imdiately—there’s a critical patient."
"Isn’t Shanshan going to the outpatient too? Why don’t you just push her along?" Yi Luowa hurriedly pushed the wheelchair toward him. "I’ll go check on my second uncle. Bye!"
