Yi Luowa reluctantly sat next to him. "If it’s a secret, I don’t want to hear it. I always feel like there are too many secrets in your family that can’t be told."

"It used to be a secret, but after Xia Wu repealed a law, it’s not much of a secret anymore." Tong Airui pulled her down to lie beside him. The two lay on their sides, facing each other. "My sister is the child of my uncle and aunt. But when my aunt gave birth to my sister, she and my uncle weren’t married yet. Xia Wu had a law stating that royal won who had children out of wedlock would be punished with execution. My dad saved my aunt’s life by claiming publicly that my sister was his kid."

Yi Luowa blinked. "They don’t kill people over this now, do they?"

"Not anymore. The first thing my dad did after he ca into power was spend two years repealing that law."

"Thank goodness." Yi Luowa patted her chest in relief.

"But, my dad never publicly clarified it to save face for my aunt and uncle. My sister only calls them Mom and Dad when no one else is around. Earlier today, she called them that in front of you—because she doesn’t see you as an outsider." Tong Airui chuckled and pinched her cheek.

Yi Luowa pouted and pulled down his hand. "So, in the end, it’s still an unspeakable secret. If I’d known, I wouldn’t have listened."

"You’re my wife. You have the right to know. Besides, even if you accidentally let it slip, my aunt and uncle would just lose face—they wouldn’t lose their lives."

Yi Luowa glared at him. "I’m not very bright, so be straightforward. I don’t get all the twists and turns you make."

Tong Airui laughed heartily. "You’re actually smarter than anyone else. You know what to say and what not to say."

"Alright, I’ve heard enough and forgotten it all. Go back to bed already." Yi Luowa gave him a push.

Tong Airui didn’t leave. Instead, he pulled her into his arms. "It’s not our first ti sharing a bed. Let’s sleep. Lights off."

"Can’t you be less like this?"

"Nope." Tong Airui smirked and tightened his embrace.

Yi Luowa gathered her courage and muttered sothing softly. Just as she reached out to turn off the light, Yuan Hang’s voice ca from outside the door. "Master, could you step out for a mont?"

Tong Airui frowned and asked, "What’s the matter?"

"You’ll know once you co out."

Tong Airui sat up unhappily. "I’ll go check. You get so rest."

Yi Luowa flashed a mischievous grin and nodded. "Go on, go on. Take care to close the door behind you."

Tong Airui got out of bed. Before exiting, he warned her, "Don’t lock the door. You know the lock won’t stop ."

"Pfft~ Did I even say I’d lock it?"

"Your expression says so!"

"Let et Miss Yi. I know I was wrong. Please, I’m begging you."

Suddenly, a voice called out from outside the door. Tong Airui’s hand on the doorknob slowly relaxed.

Yi Luowa asked suspiciously, "Asking to et ? This voice sounds a little familiar."

"Shi Qing." Tong Airui walked back inside and dialed You Jia’s number. "Shi Qing’s at the hospital. Co and take her away!"

Yi Luowa saw him hang up but still hadn’t gone out. She quickly sat up. "Aren’t you going to check? If things escalate, how will other patients get any rest?"

Tong Airui frowned slightly. "If you hadn’t ntioned it, I might’ve forgotten. I haven’t gone to see Uncle Big Mouth tonight."

"I forgot too." Yi Luowa sighed and hit her forehead. "I even told him to let know if he needed anything. What a scatterbrain!"

Tong Airui pulled her hand away. "Stop hitting yourself. It hurts to see you do that. Uncle Big Mouth wouldn’t have the heart to let you do anything for him anyway. We’ll visit him tomorrow morning."

"Miss Yi, I know I was wrong. I ca to apologize. If you still won’t co out to et , I’ll keep kneeling here!" Shi Qing’s voice ca from outside again.

Yi Luowa pursed her lips and threw off the blanket to get out of bed. "This is endless! I’ll go see her."

Tong Airui pulled her back. "Let her keep at it!"

Outside, Yuan Hang looked helplessly at Yi Luowa’s room door. After all this ti, the master still hadn’t co out. He was clearly not planning to. By now, quite a few patients and dical staff had stopped by. If this kept up, word would get out, and it wouldn’t sound good.

Shi Qing noticed the growing crowd and suddenly dropped to her knees. "Miss Yi, I’m kneeling for you. No matter my status, I made a mistake, and I must own up to it. I’m sorry, I’m sorry..."

"She’s really kneeling!" Yi Luowa lifted the curtain and glanced outside. "So many people are watching."

"She’s forcing you to go out and et her." Tong Airui pressed her back onto the bed. "I’ll have Yuan Hang drag her away."

"Tong Airui, let her co inside. There are too many people outside—it’s bad for appearances. If word reaches my second uncle, he won’t get decent rest tonight."

Tong Airui let out a long sigh, opened the door, and stepped outside.

Shi Qing looked up at him. Just as she was about to speak, Tong Airui grabbed her arm and pulled her into the hospital room.

Once inside, Tong Airui let go of her arm in disdain and warned, "If you keep causing trouble, I’ll have my people escort you back forcibly!"

Shi Qing didn’t dare look at him. She quickly stepped toward Yi Luowa, who was sitting on the bed, and gave her a deep bow. "Miss Yi, I’m sorry. Please forgive ."
