He Residence study room.

He Jitang sat under the lamp, quietly reading a book.

Shen Ci barged in.

Without raising his eyes, He Jitang asked indifferently, "Has Sun Jing’an co again?"

Shen Ci closed the door.

He nodded: "Not only did Mr. Sun co, but he also knelt!"

He Jitang snapped out of his reverie, a faint smile on his face.

He said, "He’s got so nerve! Ever since he started following his father, I could tell he was no simple man! This kneeling act, it’s like he fears I’m not dying quickly enough!"

Shen Ci slowly stepped forward, his voice slightly deep: "Mr. Zhou’s approach has reached a dead end!"

He Jitang scoffed: "I showed the Yin Family a path, but it is Yin Mingzhu who is useless!"

Shen Ci then said, "Miss Su is too capable! Perhaps young Master Ji could ..."

He gestured.

He Jitang glanced at him, then lowered his head to continue reading.

After a mont, he softly replied, "Have you forgotten about Ci’an’s illness? If sothing happens to her, who will treat Ci’an?"

Shen Ci’s mind was muddled: "There’s still old Gu!"

He Jitang put down the book.

He frowned at Shen Ci: "Go take your punishnt!"

Shen Ci was stunned.

Then he realized he had upset Jitang, although he didn’t know what he had done wrong.

He withdrew.

Chen Er ducked in.

Chen Er was like a worm in He Jitang’s belly, seeing the bit of affection that Jitang held towards Miss Su.

Mrs. Yin was rely punished for a minor offense by being handed off to others for amusent.

Vice Dean Shen still dared to harm Miss Su!

He must be sick of living!

Chen Er was smug about his understanding, sidling over obsequiously.

With a sycophantic face, he said, "If young Master Ji is in a bad mood, it must be worry over little Master Ci’an’s health. Why not ask Miss Su to co over and take his pulse?"

He Jitang kicked him.

Chen Er feigned pain, putting on a pitiful act.

But He Jitang said, "Prepare yourself, I’m leaving B-city!"

Chen Er’s heart skipped a beat, he clung to He Jitang’s leg and cried like a eunuch: "Young Master Ji, you can’t abandon ! Besides, the elders still need your care ..."

In the end, he spoke the truth: "Mr. Sun can’t trace it back to you."

He Jitang sneered: "If he can’t trace it to , does he think he can’t trace it to Yangcheng? Mr. Zhou isn’t important, it’s the Huo Family in Yangcheng that is my Achilles’ heel!"

Chen Er shivered.

He Jitang stood up, giving orders.

Listening, Chen Er begrudgingly said, "Miss Su shouldn’t have! Young Master Ji, you’ve been so good to her, and yet she’s pushed you into a corner."

He Jitang told him to shut up and get out.

Chen Er left.

He Jitang went back to his reading.

He was clever since childhood, strategizing behind the scenes, still unflustered in the face of danger.

But now he couldn’t concentrate on the book; the words of Shen Ci and Chen Er entwined in his mind.

He decided to think thoroughly.

In truth, he had not lacked murderous intentions.

It was just that day in the courtyard, the way Su Ruanruan held Ci’an, it kept reminding him.

Even on the knife’s edge, if misfortune struck, Ruanruan would treat Ci’an well.

Soon to depart for Yangcheng, He Jitang packed a few of his frequently read books.

When leaving the study, his gaze fell on the jade shelf.

That set of Phoenix Crown and Robe, as if embodying a beauty.

It belonged to her, the beauty he dared not desecrate.

If only... his hands were clean, he thought, he would certainly not have missed the chance!

Even if she was about to beco another’s wife.

He Jitang got his possessions together, then called for the Housekeeper: "On the day of ’Dragon Raises Its Head’ in February, send this to Bao Mansion."

His intentions were well speculated by the Housekeeper.

Feigning ignorance, he asked: "Young Master Ji won’t be present that day?"

He Jitang nonchalantly humd, "Those days I’ll be in another province for an academic exchange!"

The Housekeeper nodded: "Sure thing, rest assured Young Master Ji!"

He Jitang suddenly gave a light pat on the Housekeeper’s shoulder: "Serve well hereafter, and I won’t let you down!"

He took out several stacks of money from a drawer, roughly half a million, and handed them to the Housekeeper.

With the money in hand, the Housekeeper felt uneasy.

Thinking of Mr. Sun’s frequent visits lately, his suspicions only grew.
