Gu Yao couldn’t help but send another ssage, and shortly after, she received a call from Shangguan Yu.
Gu Yao glanced at Gu Sheng on the bed, walked to the window, and answered the call.
"Now? Now’s no good, my brother won’t be here to relieve for a while yet, I’ll need another hour before I’m free."
"Okay, it’s the *** café, right? Once my brother’s here, I’ll co over."
"Alright."
Gu Yao hung up the phone, unable to hide the smile on her face.
About twenty minutes later, Gu Li arrived.
He didn’t bring Gu Yao dinner but instead told her to go ho and eat, then rest well for the night.
Since Gu Li had already decided that if Gu Sheng didn’t wake up tonight, he would take him abroad for treatnt tomorrow, and naturally, Gu Yao would also go along.
Going ho for dinner was, of course, in line with Gu Yao’s wishes.
After leaving the hospital, Gu Yao headed straight to the place where she had an appointnt with Shangguan Yu.
It was already around seven in the evening, and in November, the sky was completely dark by this ti.
Today, the entrance of the hospital was particularly crowded with patients and their families, and there weren’t enough taxis available.
Gu Yao originally planned to take a taxi, but after failing to get one, she had no choice but to walk.
Although the café chosen by Shangguan Yu was the closest to the hospital, it still took nearly twenty minutes to walk there.
Pedestrians on the street all seed to be in a hurry, and so was Gu Yao.
But their urgency was different from Gu Yao’s.
A cold wind blew by, accompanied by tiny raindrops, and Gu Yao realized it was about to rain.
However, this sowhat unpleasant weather didn’t affect Gu Yao’s mood; her steps toward Shangguan Yu beca even lighter.
Because Shangguan Yu had said he had a gift for her, sothing he had been preparing for a long ti.
If ti weren’t tight and her patience wasn’t lacking, she would have dressed up before going.
The number of pedestrians on the road dwindled, and watching the fifty-odd seconds countdown on the red light across the street, Gu Yao appeared a bit impatient.
After a few seconds of consideration, she turned and walked down another road.
Gu Yao’s figure slowly disappeared into the narrow gap between two buildings, barely a ter wide.
And the agreed café was just across the street; she saw the café’s sign and, through the glass, a faintly familiar figure...
Gu Yao quickened her pace, but just as she was about to cross between the two buildings, everything went black in front of her, and then she collapsed.
Her head hit one of the walls hard, making a dull thump.
A black-clad figure appeared out of nowhere. If anyone had seen this scene, it would have surely shaken their nerves.
Zuo Yan looked at the unconscious Gu Yao on the ground, a smile tugging at the corner of his mouth.
He raised his hand, and a white orb of light appeared in his palm, within which a seed-like object was glowing gold.
Zuo Yan gazed at the object in his hand, his smile growing more pronounced.
Then he stepped closer to Gu Yao, squatted down beside her, and said to her:
"I found your thing for you. I went through a lot to find ’it,’ so don’t disappoint ."
Zuo Yan said in a strangely mocking tone, accompanied by a low laugh.
It was clear from his voice that he wasn’t up to anything good.
The next mont, he suddenly used his powers to press the gold, seed-like object from the white orb of light into Gu Yao’s forehead.
