Just now, when Gu Yao turned back to look for him, Shangguan Yu’s eyes instantly turned red, but he could only hide himself.

Shangguan Yu followed her at a distance, not too near and not too far. Throughout the journey, he rembered clearly how many tis she stopped and how long each pause lasted.

He saw Gu Yao enter a supermarket, and when she ca out, she stood at the supermarket entrance, staring down at the lighter in her hand for a long ti.

Shangguan Yu watched as Gu Yao occasionally flicked the lighter, staring at the tiny fla in a daze, and was terrified.

Why did she buy a lighter?

Before he could think more, Gu Yao took the lighter and continued walking forward.

In the four hours of following Gu Yao back to the Gu Family ho, it turned out to be the longest ti he had spent with Gu Yao in the past two years.

Looking at the Gu Family ho a hundred ters away, Shangguan Yu did not leave.

He stood there like he was tireless, foolishly watching the Gu Family, keeping the farthest distance while guarding Gu Yao.

——

Finally, when Gu Yao returned, she shut Gu Li out.

No matter what Gu Li said outside, Gu Yao just did not respond.

The room had no lights on, but it wasn’t dark at all.

The jumping flas made Gu Yao’s face glow red, and there was a strong burnt sll in the room.

Gu Yao sat on a chair, slightly bent over, holding dozens of sheets of drawing paper, feeding them one by one into the small fire before her.

Beside her feet were several thick artbooks, one of which had already been torn apart and burned by her.

Gu Yao’s face showed no tears, neither did her eyes; at this mont, she was not calm, but felt dead inside.

Those burning sheets were all her dreams from the past two years.

Gu Li tried to communicate with Gu Yao for a full half hour outside the door, but did not hear a single response from her. He was ready to give up until he slled the burning fragrance through the door slit.

"Yaoyao? What are you doing?"

Gu Li anxiously and worriedly knocked on the door. Seeing that Gu Yao still wouldn’t open it, he entered the next room, climbed from its balcony to Gu Yao’s room balcony.

At the mont he saw Gu Yao safe and sound, he let out a sigh of relief.

"What are you doing?"

Gu Li quickly approached, only to see Gu Yao throw Shangguan Yu’s portrait into the small fire.

At the instant the paper touched the flas, it turned to ash, and Shangguan Yu’s image vanished with it.

Gu Li disregarded the flas, directly reaching to save several portraits, half-burnt, from the fire.

He loudly questioned Gu Yao, "Are you crazy?"

Faced with Gu Li’s dangerous action, Gu Yao was startled but did not speak.

The remaining drawing paper in her hand and the artbooks beside her feet were all snatched away by Gu Li.

"Do you know what you’re doing?!" Gu Li loudly questioned her.

Seeing Gu Yao’s dead-inside expression, he was both angry and heartbroken.

Gu Yao picked up the lighter beside her feet and handed it to Gu Li, "Brother, help burn the rest; I don’t have the ti."

"Aren’t these your treasures? Aren’t these your life?"

"Just a pile of unwanted trash, treasure? Life? How could I, Gu Yao, be so cheap as to consider a pile of trash my life."

Gu Yao said, as she stood up, picked up her bag from the bed, and turned to walk toward the door.

"Where are you going?"

"I’m getting married the day after tomorrow; I don’t want to stay at ho. I’ll go to a hotel for a night; co if you’re free, it’s fine if you don’t."

"You can’t marry Ais, he has a purpose for marrying you."

"Then I should marry him even more, shouldn’t I?"
