Gu Sheng sat in the car, his whole being seed possessed, not moving at all.
The words Gu Yao just said kept echoing in his ears.
"You are Gu Sheng, I am Gu Yao, you are my brother, you will always only be my brother..."
"I’m not your brother, I’m not..." Gu Sheng murmured, his voice uncontrollably trembling, filled with fear.
He raised his tear-filled eyes, watching Gu Yao’s figure walk farther and farther away in the car mirror, fear gradually creeping into his eyes.
He might have seen a scene from two years later, just before his death.
At that ti, maybe he was just like now, wanting to grasp her, yet utterly powerless.
As Gu Yao disappeared bit by bit from his sight, Gu Sheng’s heart was also being hollowed out, slice by slice, leaving him feeling nothing but cold.
By the seaside near twilight, it was beautiful like a painting, so tranquil and peaceful that it seed a pity to disturb it.
From afar, Gu Yao saw Ais sitting there.
She wanted to turn around and leave but couldn’t get past her conscience in the end.
Sensing soone approaching, Ais raised his head and was sowhat surprised to see Gu Yao.
Ais didn’t speak, just looked at her as if waiting for her to start talking.
Gu Yao saw the drawings in his hand, stained with blood, and couldn’t describe her feelings. Looking at his bruised face, guilt welled up in her heart.
"...Why didn’t you go to the hospital?"
"Just minor injuries, it’s nothing." Ais smiled lightly, his tone relaxed, as if he really didn’t care about it.
"I’m sorry."
"Why are you apologizing to ? It’s not like you hit ."
"But it was because of ."
"Alright, you don’t need to feel guilty about it." Ais reached out, pulling Gu Yao to sit beside him.
"How about you? Are you okay? Did your second brother hit you?"
Gu Yao shook her head. Seeing Ais not only not blaming her but instead showing concern for her, she felt even more guilty.
"That’s good to hear. But you were definitely scared, right?"
"It’s alright."
"Why do you keep your head down, not even looking at , am I that ugly now?" Ais joked.
"No, I..." Gu Yao looked up at him for a glance, then lowered her head again.
"Why didn’t you fight back?"
"Fight back?" Ais laughed: "Never mind whether I could take on your second brother, if I fought back, I’d probably not even be able to be your friend."
"You still want to be friends with , aren’t you afraid of getting beaten up?"
"If getting beaten up a few tis ans I can be your friend, then I’d lie down and let your brother hit ."
Seeing that Ais was not joking at all, Gu Yao pressed her lips: "Why do you want to be friends with ?"
Gu Sheng’s words "Ais approached you with an aim" were indeed rembered in Gu Yao’s heart.
She carefully recalled the first ti she t Ais and several encounters since.
Every ti she t him, it was indeed quite a coincidence, but coincidental enough to evoke suspicion.
"Hmm..." Ais thought carefully for a mont, then smiled shyly, even lowering his head sowhat bashfully to look at the drawings in his hands.
It was exactly the sa reaction as a young boy discovering his affection for a girl he liked.
Ais didn’t answer, he thought Gu Yao should understand what he ant.
Yes, Gu Yao did understand.
It was so obvious, how could she not see it?
"About that, I..." Gu Yao wanted to clarify it with him, but was afraid she was overthinking, and also feared making things awkward for everyone, and most of all feared hurting his feelings.
