Shangguan Yu didn’t eat, so Gu Yao kept holding until her hand started to tremble from exhaustion. Ultimately, Shangguan Yu spoke first.
"Miss Gu, thank you very much for visiting . If there’s nothing else, I’d like to rest now." His tone was flat, with no fluctuations or emotions, as if treating a stranger.
Even in his eyes, the usual shine was nowhere to be found.
This version of him seed like a different person than his usual offhand manner.
"Who said there’s nothing?" Gu Yao withdrew her hand, placing the now cold spoonful of porridge back into the bowl. She held the bowl, her eyes reddened as she looked at him.
"Please speak." This tone and attitude, keeping others at a distance, really made one uncomfortable.
"I should be the one saying this. You kept calling my na while unconscious. Was there sothing you wanted to tell ?"
She thought Shangguan Yu would panic when he heard this, maybe try to cover up or evade, or at the very least, react sohow. But he didn’t; he didn’t even show an extra expression, his face calm, as if this sentence was just another sentence.
It’s unknown whether his heart was as calm as water.
"Miss Gu, you might have heard wrong. If so, I apologize for causing your misunderstanding."
Upon hearing this, Gu Yao, seeing Shangguan Yu’s indifferent face, felt both angry and annoyed. She took out her mobile phone, played the recording, turned up the volu, and put it directly in front of him.
From the phone ca Shangguan Yu’s weak murmurs. Although faint, they were clear enough.
Every call of Yaoyao, with emotions differing from fear to happiness, despair to deep affection—perhaps others couldn’t hear it, but Gu Yao could, and so could he.
"Why aren’t you saying anything? Can’t find the words to deceive and yourself?"
Gu Yao watched Shangguan Yu’s eyes, void of ripples, her hand holding the phone tightened due to nervousness.
Shangguan Yu turned his head to look at Gu Yao, the smile at his lips slightly disdainful: "If Miss Gu insists on thinking so, there’s nothing I can do. As long as you’re happy, Miss Gu. However, I must say, don’t you find this behavior degrading, Miss Gu?"
"..."
Gu Yao slowly retracted her hand holding the phone, looking at the mocking Shangguan Yu, realizing for the first ti that the person before her could be so cold-blooded.
Clearly knowing Shangguan Yu was mostly acting, unwilling to admit, yet still hurt by his cold deanor.
"Why did you ntion my trip abroad to your subordinates?"
"It wasn’t worth ntioning. He just asked why you haven’t been bothering lately. I was glad you left, that’s all."
At this mont, Gu Yao’s face had turned as pale as Shangguan Yu’s.
Already feeling unwell, she had flown for over ten hours non-stop to get here. Her heart had turned over a few tis in those few hours, leaving Gu Yao physically and ntally exhausted.
But she didn’t know, sowhere she couldn’t see, Shangguan Yu was clutching his other hand painfully, the veins in his entire arm bulging.
"You first looked at when you woke up, called my na too. You told your mother you saw return." Reluctantly, she questioned again.
"I’m truly sorry, you’ve seen my condition. From my coma to the ten minutes after waking up, I didn’t even know who I was, let alone what I had said."
