Jun Moyan pondered for a mont, fearing that Jun Wuyang and the old lady would create more trouble, so he told Wen Xiao’ai about it.

"To get revenge on , Jun Wuyang persuaded Grandmother Jun to arrange your marriage with my second brother."

"What?" Wen Xiao’ai’s eyes widened in disbelief, wondering if she heard wrong.

"Who do they think they are, managing who I marry? They’re really full of themselves. I’m going to kill them." Wen Xiao’ai turned around, ready to confront Jun Wuyang.

Jun Moyan held her back, "Dirty hands."

"Hmph, Jun Wuyang that big villain, is utterly detestable. The next ti I see him, I’ll definitely crush him."

Wen Xiao’ai spoke indignantly, angrily stomping on the floor.

She then looked worriedly at Jun Moyan: "Jun Moyan, you’re so close with your second brother; you couldn’t possibly..."

"I would."

"What did you say?" Wen Xiao’ai was stunned, then both anxious and angry: "You, you once said you would give anything to your brother, except for ."

"I would kill Jun Wuyang."

Wen Xiao’ai instantly laughed, "You scared . I thought you were going to hand over to your brother."

"No one has the right to hand you over to anyone, including ."

"It’s strange that, despite being a family, you, your second brother, and grandfather are so nice, yet those people are so vile."

"Because of selfishness and greed."

"I don’t understand."

"You don’t need to understand, you’re fine just the way you are now." Jun Moyan reached out and ruffled her hair.

"Mhm." Wen Xiao’ai nodded.

Holy City—

Bai Family—

"Old man, ti for your dicine." Bai Tang pushed open the door of Elder Bai’s room and walked in carrying a bowl of dicine.

He saw Elder Bai barefoot, pacing around the room.

"Didn’t I tell you to stay in bed? Why are you hopping around without even wearing shoes?"

"Lying in bed is uncomfortable; besides, my legs aren’t injured." Elder Bai sat down on the sofa.

Bai Tang put the dicine on the table, then turned to fetch shoes for him.

As he bent down, the plain jade pendant around his neck fell out.

Bai Tang picked up the oddly-patterned jade pendant from his neck and looked at it thoughtfully.

After pondering, he took off the pendant and held it in his hands.

"Put your shoes on."

Bai Tang placed the shoes by Elder Bai’s feet to put them on for him. After making sure the elder drank his dicine, he handed over his own jade pendant.

"Here, you wear it."

Elder Bai glanced at the jade pendant in his hand, then looked at him, "Why did you take this off?"

"To let you wear it. Isn’t it supposed to ensure safety?"

"I don’t need it, you put it back on quickly. Uncle Ming said you must not take it off."

"I don’t want it anymore, you wear it."

"Will you put it on or not? If you don’t, I’ll whittle you down," Elder Bai was becoming frantic.

"I’m not wearing it. I told you it’s for you," Bai Tang pulled Elder Bai’s hand and shoved the pendant into it.

Although he didn’t believe the pendant could actually protect anyone, he might as well indulge in this superstition.

Elder Bai, slightly angered, stood up with the jade pendant, intending to put it on Bai Tang.

Bai Tang stepped back.

"I told you it’s yours, if you don’t want it then throw it away."

"You brat, can’t you understand? Uncle Ming said you must not take it off; if you do, it will be dangerous for you," Elder Bai looked serious and worried.

Seeing Elder Bai so earnest and anxious, Bai Tang smirked, "I took it off, didn’t I? Am I in danger?"

"Would you stop aggravating ? Just put it on," Elder Bai urged, extending the pendant toward him.

Bai Tang refused to accept it, insisting that Elder Bai wear it.

Just when Elder Bai was about to lose his patience with him, Uncle Ming, who had just seen off Shangguan Yu, walked in.

"What’s the matter? Fighting again?"
