"Wuchen, that’s really heartless of you to say," the aunt remarked. "Your grandmother is just looking out for you, trying to find soone to take care of you."

Although that was true, the direct way Jun Wuchen said it, and so unpleasantly at that, left Mada Jun displeased and struggling to maintain her dignity.

"Leaving aside whether I need soone to take care of , there are plenty of people in this world who could do that. Why must I marry Xiao’ai? Don’t think for a second I don’t know what you’re all up to. It’s your prerogative not to like Moyan, but don’t try to stir up trouble between us; it will be a waste of your effort."

No sooner had Jun Wuchen spoken than he began to maneuver his wheelchair to leave.

But Grandmother Jun called out to him.

"Wuchen."

"Grandma, you should stop this unreasonable behavior," he sighed. "If Grandpa and Uncle found out, you all would be in for another argunt."

"Unreasonable? I’m doing this for your own good. And don’t bring them up with ," she countered.

"I don’t need this kind of ’good,’" he retorted.

"It doesn’t matter whether you want it or not; what if your grandmother insists you marry that girl?"

Jun Wuchen couldn’t help but smile a little.

To speak disrespectfully, they were really taking themselves too seriously.

Managing the marital affairs of their own child was one thing, but trying to control soone else’s?

Didn’t that seem like a joke to them?

"Even if you insist, it’ll depend on whether Moyan is willing to agree." If they truly angered Moyan, they would be the ones to suffer.

"So you an as long as Jun Moyan agrees, you will marry her?"

"That’s not what I said, and Moyan would never agree. Not Xiao’ai, not Qing Yi, not Bai Yi, not even the drunkard—anyone by his side is off-limits to others." He knew Moyan’s character better than anyone; Moyan always put the people close to him first.

Because he cared, and so few cared about him in return, any person Moyan cared for, or who cared for him, was more important to him than anything else.

And he knew respect for others better than anyone.

Seeing Jun Wuchen defend Jun Moyan so fiercely, even criticizing her in the process, only hardened Grandmother Jun’s resolve to sever the bond between the two. Her tone beca more direct and forceful.

"If he agrees to it, then you’ll have to marry her," she declared.

"Grandma, are you confused about the situation? Xiao’ai isn’t yours to dictate who she marries," Jun Wuchen felt communication with them was impossible.

"Isn’t she just after money? Is our Jun Family short on funds?"

"...You’re being unreasonable," Jun Wuchen replied, clearly frustrated.

"Alright Wuchen, just listen to your grandmother," Mada Jun interjected with a smile, trying to smooth things over. "She’s only thinking of what’s best for you. Let’s just ask the girl. If she’s unwilling to marry, we certainly can’t force her, right? Let’s just see, if she’s willing, it ans soone extra to look after you, which will put us more at ease, won’t it?"

"Ask? Do you really think this is the sort of thing you can just ask about?"

"Enough. We’ll settle it like this: if after asking her, she’s not willing, then let it be. If she agrees, then you’ll have to marry her," Grandmother Jun stated firmly, stood up, and left.

With a headache from irritation, Jun Wuchen’s previously good mood was ruined.

After the two left, Gu Li walked in.

"What’s wrong? You look so upset?"

"It’s nothing."

"Is there anything you can’t talk to about?" Gu Li asked with a smile.

Sothing felt odd to him; what could upset him this much?

Looking up at Gu Li, Jun Wuchen then dropped his gaze again without a word.

"Is it related to Moyan?"

Once again, Jun Wuchen looked at him and gave a slight nod.

"Hmm."
