It was Gu Sheng’s lukewarm attitude that always made Gu Yao nervous each ti.
Though they were siblings, finding a topic of conversation was also challenging.
"Second brother, is this your girlfriend? She’s really pretty," Gu Yao said, looking at the woman who was affectionately clinging to Gu Sheng’s arm, but seed to be terrified.
However, as soon as Gu Yao spoke, Gu Sheng’s face darkened.
Gu Sheng forcefully withdrew his arm from the woman’s grip, speaking rcilessly, "Not anymore."
The woman regained her composure, feeling both awkward and unwilling.
Gu Yao was also startled by Gu Sheng’s sudden change.
Hadn’t everything been fine just a mont ago?
Had she said sothing wrong?
The woman stood to the side, and although feeling panicky, she was not soone unaccustod to handling situations; she smiled imdiately and said, "Miss Gu, sorry for intruding uninvited, it’s a bit sudden. Happy birthday, may you beco ever more beautiful."
The woman was clever, knowing she had upset Gu Sheng, she refrained from ntioning her relationship with him, even forgoing any self-introduction.
"Thank you," Gu Yao responded politely.
The three of them stood together, and in such a bustling hall, the atmosphere around them was awkward.
Gu Yao was thinking of finding an excuse to leave when two wealthy young n with drinks approached.
After greeting Gu Sheng, they imdiately turned their attention to Gu Yao.
"Miss Gu looks truly beautiful today."
"Yes, even more radiant than last year, truly outshining everyone else."
"Thank you," Gu Yao smiled, her mind elsewhere.
The two n tried various ways to charm Gu Yao.
Gu Sheng stood by, one hand holding a glass of wine, the other tucked into his trousers pocket, already clenched taut.
His gaze occasionally swept over Gu Yao’s face.
And the most awkward person was Gu Sheng’s "ex-girlfriend."
Being ignored from the start, she watched the two n heap praises on Gu Yao, growing increasingly upset.
She considered herself a rare beauty too, or she wouldn’t have caught Gu Sheng’s favor, yet those n didn’t even glance at her.
Although she knew these n were probably flattering Gu Yao because of her status,
jealousy in won often cos without reason.
She glanced at Gu Sheng, who acted as if she didn’t exist, bit her lip, and without a word, left for sowhere else...
"Miss Gu, it’s your birthday, have a drink to revel a bit," one of the n offered a drink to Gu Yao.
Gu Yao hesitated, glanced at Gu Sheng who had been showing a low mood,
and was about to take the drink when Gu Sheng’s sowhat chilly voice rang out, "Young lady, don’t drink."
Gu Yao’s hand, that was reaching for the drink, paused mid-air for two seconds before she withdrew it and looked at the two n, "Sorry, I’m not feeling well, I’ll drink another ti."
"No, no problem," the man took the drink back, sneaking a look at Gu Sheng’s gloomy face.
Who would have thought Gu Sheng would suddenly et his gaze.
The look that seed to devour him alive made him involuntarily shiver.
This, was this still the carefree, joking Gu Sheng of usual?
Knowing Gu Sheng was not in a playful mood and did not fancy them, the two n wisely made themselves scarce.
Gu Sheng’s expression was also improving, he turned to Gu Yao and suddenly asked,
"Not feeling well?"
"Ah?" Gu Yao was taken aback.
"No, I just said that on purpose."
Wasn’t such a clear refusal easy to understand?
