He gritted his teeth, dragging his body to the corner of the wall, leaving a long trail of blood behind him.

Sitting down against the wall, his vision started to black out.

Before he could catch his breath, footsteps suddenly approached, growing closer and closer.

Nie Jiuque’s heart went on high alert, and the face beneath the mask, covered in cold sweat, instantly tensed up.

As the footsteps neared, a long black silhouette appeared in Nie Jiuque’s sight.

He clenched the Magic Artifact in his hand and held his breath.

A black leather shoe stepped over, followed by a tall figure.

In the next mont, Nie Jiuque, who had been on edge, was stunned when he saw who it was.

"Brother Gu..."

The familiar words "Brother Gu" left Gu Li montarily dazed.

Looking into the familiar eyes beneath Nie Jiuque’s mask, Gu Li’s mind went blank for a mont.

He looked at the masked man sitting against the wall, gripping a dagger in one hand and covering a wound on his side with the other, his eyes filled with disbelief.

"...Wuchen?"

"Should be just ahead." Jun Moyan’s voice suddenly ca through.

"Jun Third Young Master, and this gentleman, assassins have infiltrated the Bai Family, and the Old Master Bai has asked to escort you both to the hall for safety. The hall is already secure." A few Bai Family guards appeared.

"I have so matters to attend to; I’ll go over in a while."

"Then please be careful, both of you."

Hearing the commotion not far away, Nie Jiuque’s nerves tensed again.

He couldn’t let them see this face of his.

"Brother Gu..."

At this mont, he could only seek help from the person in front of him.

"In front."

"This way."

Jun Moyan and Ais chased over, but behind the corner, there was only a pool of blood.

Ais crouched down, his fingers reaching towards the bloodstain on the ground.

In this cold weather, the blood was still warm, indicating that they had just left a mont ago.

A silhouette suddenly flashed by from afar.

The two looked over simultaneously, indeed seeing Nie Jiuque’s quickly fleeing figure.

"After him."

The two of them took off in pursuit.

After a roundabout chase, they successfully lost track...

"Wasn’t that guy injured? How is he still running so fast?" Ais said, hands on his hips, panting.

"His bleeding seems to have stopped."

Jun Moyan stared at the clean ground, thinking of how Nie Jiuque just now was sprinting like the wind, not at all like soone badly injured. He felt sothing was off, but couldn’t pinpoint it.

"Let’s check ahead."

The two were about to head towards the flower bed in front when a voice suddenly rang out.

"Moyan."

Jun Moyan turned around, sowhat surprised to see the young man walking down the path.

"Brother Gu?"

"It’s ."

"What are you doing here?"

"Invited by the Bai Family."

Gu Li walked over, asking with concern, "Are you alright? Are you hurt? Just now the Bai Family’s guards said you were here, so I ca looking for you in case sothing happened."

"I’m fine, Brother Gu. When did you arrive? I don’t recall seeing you at the banquet earlier."

"I arrived early, talking business with a few acquaintances. Didn’t expect you to be here too. After wrapping up with them, I planned to greet you but found you had already left."

Jun Moyan nodded, evidently without suspicion towards Gu Li.

"Moyan, how co you’re with him..." Gu Li glanced at Ais, his expression sowhat complicated.

Ais approached Gu Yao, plotted against Gu Yao, but was taken away by Shangguan Yu at the wedding—a big scandal in the Capital City.

"Brother Gu, did you happen to see a man in black, wearing a mask, just now?" Jun Moyan deflected the topic.

"No, why?"
