Gu Yao looked at Uncle Li, seeing him hemming and hawing, her curiosity grew even stronger.

Just as Uncle Li was trying to co up with an excuse, Gu Yao’s phone on the table began to ring.

She picked up the phone and when she saw the caller ID, she felt terrible, and was even afraid to answer the call.

Glancing at Uncle Li with a bit of fear, she finally answered the phone nervously.

"...Big brother?"

Gu Sheng sat in the car, gripping the steering wheel tightly. When the call connected and he heard Gu Yao’s voice, his heart settled down.

She was still alive, Yaoyao was still alive...

Coming back to his senses, Gu Sheng felt a chill all over, his clothes already soaked with cold sweat.

He slowly closed his eyes, hiding the fear in them.

Feeling sowhat drained, he leaned back, released his grip on the steering wheel, and pressed against his throbbing temples.

"Big brother?" Gu Yao on the other end of the phone didn’t hear Gu Sheng’s reply, but she did hear a great sigh of relief and beca sowhat puzzled.

"...Yes," Gu Sheng answered faintly.

"Big brother, do you need sothing from ?"

Gu Sheng swallowed, calming his emotions, "What are you doing?"

"I..." Gu Yao looked at the painting on the table and confessed truthfully, "I’m painting at ho."

"Hmm," Gu Sheng replied, saying nothing else.

But Gu Yao took the initiative to bring up another topic, "Big brother, your birthday is in a few days, what do you like? I’ll prepare a gift for you."

Gu Yao pursed her lips, her paintbrush moving intermittently across the blank spaces on the painting, feeling very nervous.

At the sa ti, she regretted asking that question.

After all, big brother didn’t care about these things; whatever she sent would be the sa to him.

Now she had only made herself unbearably nervous.

"As long as it’s from you, no matter what it is, big brother will like it."

Gu Sheng’s words, carrying a gentle tone, reached Gu Yao’s ears and left her sowhat flabbergasted.

Is... Is that really big brother?

"What about you, what gift would you like?"

Their birthdays weren’t in the sa year, but they fell on the sa day.

"I, anything’s fine."

"...Okay."

To Gu Yao’s response, Gu Sheng on the other end seed a bit disheartened.

But Gu Yao didn’t notice his dejection; she still hadn’t recovered from Gu Sheng’s gentle words.

"Miss? What’s wrong?" Uncle Li called out to Gu Yao, who was lost in thought.

"Ah?" Gu Yao snapped back to reality, only to find that the other person had already hung up.

"Miss, did the second young master say sothing to you?"

Gu Yao shook her head: "...Apparently, not much."

"If it’s nothing urgent, then you carry on with your work. Uncle Li will step out for now."

"Oh..."

After Uncle Li left, Gu Yao held the phone in one hand and stared blankly at the painting of Shangguan Yu on the paper, lost in thought about sothing.

anwhile, in the dessert house, Wen Xiao’ai’s snacks were still being packed.

Qing Yi, after leaving the pet shop, drove to find her way over.

"Third young master."

"Did the doctor ntion anything?" Jun Moyan asked.

"Yes." Qing Yi discussed the deworming dicine, along with the vacciantion side effects with Jun Moyan...

"Sir, there’s quite a lot of stuff; our store can help you deliver it. How about you leave an address?" The manager offered Jun Moyan with a smile.

Jun Moyan glanced at the still-being-packed sweets, grabbed two boxes, left an address, and then left with Wen Xiao’ai.

Inside the car,

Jun Moyan unwrapped the lollipop and held it up to Wen Xiao’ai’s mouth, who hugged his hand holding the candy and licked it with increasing vigor.

The sweet and sticky drool got on Jun Moyan, but he didn’t mind.
