"Do I even have a choice...?" Wen Xiao’ai muttered to herself, resignedly, her heart filled with sorrow and despair.

Feng Liyan opened his mouth, but didn’t know what to say, even words of comfort seed inappropriate.

If the person she didn’t want to marry wasn’t Ye Qi, he would do everything in his power to help her resist this marriage, but since it was Ye Qi, he couldn’t do that.

Ye Qi’s fingers twitched slightly, his half-clenched hand weakly opened.

He looked down at Wen Xiao’ai lying softly in his arms, her face pale and lifeless. His lips moved slightly, as if wanting to say sothing, but he refrained.

His brow was full of hesitation and struggle, as if enduring a great tornt in his heart.

Indeed, to him, this was far more cruel than torture.

"Xiao’ai..."

After struggling for a long ti, he finally steeled his heart, but just as he was about to speak, he was interrupted by Feng Liyan.

"Ye Qi."

Ye Qi looked up instinctively, only to see Feng Liyan with a slightly stern face, shaking his head slightly, signaling Ye Qi to abandon his thoughts.

Unwilling and resistant as he already was, Ye Qi also silenced himself.

"Be good, drink the porridge first. Everyone will be worried if you go on like this." Feng Liyan once again brought the porridge to Wen Xiao’ai’s lips.

"...I just want to be alone for a while, can you both leave?" Wen Xiao’ai said weakly.

Though the two were worried, seeing Wen Xiao’ai like this, they could only give her so space.

Feng Liyan: "Then promise , you have to drink the porridge later, and take the dicine too."

"..."

The two got up and left Wen Xiao’ai’s chamber but didn’t dare to leave entirely. Instead, they waited in the main hall.

"What were you planning to do just now? Were you going to call off the engagent?" Feng Liyan questioned Ye Qi, though it was more concern than a confrontation.

"..."

Ye Qi clenched his fist slightly, without denying it.

"Do you really want to be a gentleman and let the Little Princess be with soone else?"

"I didn’t."

Ye Qi denied it.

He could refuse this marriage for Wen Xiao’ai but that didn’t an he would let her be with soone else.

He’s not that noble.

He believed no one could be generous enough to let their beloved be with another.

Feng Liyan sighed slightly, raised his hand, and patted Ye Qi’s arm without saying more.

In this wedding, it wasn’t only Wen Xiao’ai who was suffering.

How heartbreaking it must have been for him to be able to say the words not to marry...

In the room

The faint fragrance had now turned entirely into the sll of dicine.

Wen Xiao’ai turned onto her side with so difficulty, reached out to hold the quilt, and curled up her thin body.

She felt so cold.

Not just her body, but her heart felt cold as well.

This haven of safety and strong pillar that never let her suffer even a bit, now felt unfamiliar and frightening.

She even had thoughts of escaping.

But she couldn’t escape, nor could she run.

Wen Xiao’ai buried her face deeply into the quilt, crying helplessly.

"Sister."

Suddenly, a white translucent figure appeared in the room.

The young boy looked at Wen Xiao’ai, who was trembling all over on the bed, and felt sad, his voice tinged with tears.

Wen Xiao’ai’s body stiffened, she stopped crying, then with much effort, turned to look at the boy by the bed.

Seeing the boy, Wen Xiao’ai’s tears couldn’t be stopped as she rembered the ti in the Human Realm.

"Baozi..."

"Sister, don’t cry anymore, your eyes are swollen." The boy reached out, wanting to wipe Wen Xiao’ai’s tears, wanting to pat her head, to hug her, but he couldn’t.
