The city scread as the battle truly began.

The combined killing intent of the Devil Lords was no abstract pressure—it was a tangible force that crushed space-ti itself. The ruined skyline bent inward as if bowing before their malice.

Broken towers tore free from their foundations, lifted by invisible forces, and were pulverized into dust before ever touching the combatants. The air curdled, thick with hatred, law-breaking power, and ancient malice refined across countless eras of slaughter.

Vlad and Overlord were keenly aware that the armies of the Six Sun Alliance were already on the move toward the city. However, even with all the destruction the god weapon left to the formation, it would still take several monts to breach the force field and enter the stronghold. Until then, the two True Depravitas would stand alone.

Luckily, there was a silver lining.

The earlier barrage of god weapons had already annihilated nearly all low-tier Devils and crippled the cities’ offensive runic formations, so they would not have to worry about Superior Legends or beams of energy bothering them.

Only the Devil Lords remained.

Overlord tightened his grip around Gram. Golden flas erupted instantly, roaring outward and wrapping both True Depravitas in a blazing cocoon of divine fire. The heat distorted space, creating a shimring barrier that pulsed like a living heart.

The Devil Lords reacted without hesitation.

Spells, curses, and raw manifestations of infernal law slamd into the cocoon from every direction. The flas shattered violently—only for the Devil Lords to realize, too late, that there was nothing inside.

Space folded.

The True Depravita of Wrath reappeared high above the city, his black sword already descending.

The blade did not glow.

It did not roar.

It erased.

A vertical line carved downward through the battlefield as Vlad slashed, space collapsing along the cut like a guillotine falling through reality itself. The sky split. The city below scread.

One of the strongest Devil Lords moved to intercept.

Kharzug the World-Crusher roared as he t the attack head-on. The four-ard Devil Lord’s massive fra swelled grotesquely as ancient runes ignited across his obsidian skin. He crossed all four fists and slamd upward, eting Vlad’s strike with raw, apocalyptic force.

The collision detonated.

A shockwave tore outward, vaporizing the remains of nearby structures and carving a crater kiloters wide into the city’s heart. Infernal stone lted. Space rippled violently.

Kharzug was driven to the ground, one of his arms shattered completely.

Vlad was thrown backward, blood leaking from the corner of his mouth as his boots skidded across the air itself, space resisting his montum like thick water.

"They are strong," Vlad admitted silently, his expression solemn. "Stronger than the Lords of the First Layer."

Taking all of them alone would have been impossible.

Fortunately, he was not alone.

Kharzug snarled and prepared to surge back into the fray—then froze.

A white-haired man with wings of crackling plasma stood beside him.

"When did he arrive...?" Kharzug barely had ti to register the question.

Overlord tightened his grip around Gram. Yellow lightning surged across the blade, intertwining with divine fire and amplifying its destructive power. With a single horizontal swing, Overlord unleashed it.

The flas exploded outward like a newborn star.

Kharzug barely managed to raise an arm before Gram struck. Divine fire detonated across his chest, tearing through his defenses. Molten blood and burning flesh sprayed across the ruins as the Devil Lord scread in agony, his regeneration faltering under the purifying flas.

Before Overlord could finish him, the battlefield shifted again.

Mirrors manifested in the air.

Veylrix appeared.

The Devil Lord of Fractured Futures stepped out of a dozen reflections at once, each mirror showing a different possible death. Blades of condensed probability lashed out simultaneously, striking at Overlord from every angle.

Overlord clenched his teeth as the attacks tore into his body, probability itself conspiring to ensure each strike landed. Yet his focus did not waver.

Gram flared brighter.

Divine fire roared outward, consuming reflections and futures alike. The mirrors cracked and shattered as Veylrix scread, forcibly expelled from his own domain.

That mont sealed his fate.

Vlad appeared behind him in a flicker of warped space.

One thrust.

The black sword pierced Veylrix’s back. Grey flas erupted across the wound, devouring body and soul alike as the Devil Lord scread in terror.

But Vlad could not finish him.

A new presence descended like a storm.

Ixthariel arrived.

The Devil Lord was a tempest of shadows and screaming faces, his form unraveling and reforming constantly. Wings forged from shadows and thunder sliced through the air, each stroke severing space itself as he dove toward Vlad.

Vlad frowned and twisted space around himself, redirecting the first strike.

The second connected.

The shadow-forged wing tore through Vlad’s chest, ripping flesh and bone apart. Blood sprayed as he was driven into the streets below, smashing through multiple layers of infernal stone.

Before Vlad could recover, Zeraphine struck.

Her serpentine body stretched as thousands of whispering mouths opened at once, unleashing an ocean of venom and curses toward the fallen True Depravita of Wrath.

Vlad slamd his sword into the ground.

Fire and lightning erupted outward, forming a violent domain around him that incinerated poison on contact. The ground liquefied beneath his feet as Entropy flared—but Ixthariel’s wings struck again, sending arcs of sundering space crashing into the domain.

Overlord moved to intervene—

Only to halt.

Three Devil Lords surrounded him.

The Devil Lords moved against Overlord in perfect, predatory coordination, their killing intent locking onto him like a vice. This was not a reckless assault—it was an execution designed by beings who had slaughtered their way through eras of war.

The first to strike was Morvane. His skeletal fra rattled softly as the rusted chains coiled around his body ca alive. With a single raised hand, thousands of chains flashed forward.

Wherever they passed, the air collapsed into absolute zero. Frost spread instantly, freezing light, sound, and motion alike as the chain sought to bind Overlord’s very soul.

The second attacker was Threxion of the Howling Maw. His massive body convulsed as his torso split open, flesh peeling back to reveal a circular abyss lined with rotating fangs of condensed infernal law. From that maw arose an annihilating suction ant to tear body and spirit into nothingness.

Above them both hovered the third.

Sathrael, the Crimson Arbiter.

He descended slowly, draped in flowing armor ford from living blood that pulsed with every beat of his heart. Six burning eyes opened across his helm, each one radiating judgnt. In his grasp, a colossal infernal blade took shape, its edge dripping execution and finality.

All three attacks ca in unison.

Overlord did not lose focus.

His aura surged violently as he pushed his energy to the limit, responding to each threat with brutal precision.

Gram erupted with divine fire, and Overlord swung upward just as Morvane’s chain reached him. The collision detonated in a blinding explosion of gold and frost.

The chain shattered backward, fragnts screaming as they burned away, while the force of the impact hurled Overlord through the air, his body carving molten trenches through distorted space.

He did not stop.

Threxion’s maw expanded further, the pull intensifying until entire ruins were torn free and dragged screaming into the abyss. Overlord’s muscles scread in protest. His plasma wings flared wide, lightning cracking like thunder as he anchored himself with raw, overwhelming force.

Cold determination filled his eyes.

Overlord raised Gram like a spear and hurled it forward.

The Devil Lord swallowed the weapon whole, only for divine fire to detonate inside his body the very next heartbeat. A fountain of burning blood erupted from his maw as his form convulsed, his internal organs rupturing under the explosion.

For a brief mont, victory seed within reach.

Then Sathrael struck.

The Crimson Arbiter descended like a falling star, infernal blade cleaving downward with absolute judgnt. Overlord barely had ti to raise his wings before the impact landed.

The collision erupted in a cataclysmic burst of crimson light, shockwaves tearing entire districts of the city apart. Overlord coughed blood as he was driven into the ground, shattering layers of infernal stone beneath him.

Across the city, Vlad fought a war of attrition.

Ixthariel and Zeraphine pressed him relentlessly. Shadows and severed space crashed down as Ixthariel’s wings scythed through reality itself, while Zeraphine unleashed endless oceans of venom and curses, threatening to devour Vlad from every direction.

The situation was deteriorating rapidly.

The remaining Devil Lords had already taken position, their auras rising as they prepared to unleash every remaining ounce of power to annihilate the two intruders once and for all.

And yet—

In the midst of that overwhelming pressure, smiles slowly ford on both Vlad’s and Overlord’s faces.

Then it happened.

"CRACK."

The sound of crystal shattering echoed across the battlefield as the massive force field surrounding the city fractured. Runes exploded into shards of light, and the barrier collapsed entirely.

In the next second, the forces of the Six Sun Alliance surged into the City of Unkept Promises.
