Klaire added, internally a little disappointed he could now match her, which made her feel a little like Carl had when felt, when he broke up with her. Lydia broke the grip she had on him and forced her hand back to her. "Klaire, it says zero, that ans none of us are in it, personal relationships must not be a factor. Carl, analyse the mission, it might tell you how to add her before she kills you in your sleep." Carl’s head nodded vigorously as he did as he was told.

Lydia burst into laughter, suddenly and violently, it was so aggressively obnoxious that Carl removed the headset just to see what was happening. "Oh god! HAHAHA! I needed that... Aww, you two need to find a house and sign a contract to complete it. Klaire, I can’t believe his system is literally trying to get you two hitched." Lydia continued to laugh, Carl and Klaire just sighed and blushed.
Carl then started to return the headset but Lydia stopped as abruptly as she started and told him not to. "I think we need to wait until tomorrow. Your mums should all be present as we go through this hilarious system, all three of them. I’ll cook so food and let Leanna know she’s having guests for a while, you two have another week before the classes resu anyway."
"Auntie Lydia, can we go to Carl’s room? we need to speak in private." Klaire asked, trying to sound sweet and innocent.

The door hissed closed behind them. "Carl, I need you to know. This does sound like marriage and I’m happy, but also scared. I want to ask Mum to put through the howling, I need to be stronger, fast. Can you wait for for two months after we graduate."
"Klaire, isn’t that like really dangerous and you have to do it alone? Of course I can and will wait, but why do sothing like that? I thought it was an optional thing." Carl asked, concerned.
"I keep hearing the phantom voice of that man you described, it terrifies . He called you his or sothing, I’m almost certain we will see him again and I don’t want to be frozen in place when he pops up next."

"Well, when Danielle gets here tomorrow, why don’t we ask her what might help, we can also ask the three of them for advice on contract terms so we don’t feel trapped and avoid any easily broken Contractual obligations. Also, of course I’ll send a pet with you, you aren’t the only one who is terrified of that man."
Klaire leaned in and kissed him, then Carl yelped two seconds later as Squidge bit him and the pneumatic hiss of the door followed that.
"Slls like lust and depravity in here so you two are done. Too early in the day for all that. Good boy Squidge, we’ll get you looked over when we are all full." As if by magic, Carl and Klaire were abandoned by their own "child" in favour of his actual favourite.
They ate and then, as promised, Lydia began Squidge’s exam, then she sighed and asked Carl if he had looked at Squidge’s stats since the level up. "Err, no, been distracted since and now I can hear his thoughts, I figured he’d tell anything he wanted to know. Wait, Squidge can you see your own stats?"
’No, I kept trying to when I had growth spurts, but it never appeared.’ Squidge explained with a hint of annoyance at being less knowledgeable of his own abilities than Carl.
"Oh damn, sorry pal, just assud, my bad. Let have a peek for you." Carl rambled as he petted him, before slowly coming to a halt.
