Everyone went quiet within the room, rising again to their feet for a mont before sitting back down.

Evelyn sat at the head of the chair, fingers steepled.

"So...what’s your decision?"

They all glanced at each other, clearly conflicted. None of them had been able to co to a decision. If they really left to join Preston, will everything work out? Would it be smarter to stick with TDG?

But what’s the point? TDG was practically done for, being run by a young woman such as herself.

Sage Darkwood was a different case. An experienced man.

"We have...not co to a decision yet," Mr. Roman said.

Evelyn glanced at him. "You had two weeks, Mr. Roman. What do you an?"

"This is not just a simple decision. It could change the course of TDG. I’m sure you understand that."

She nodded, gaze fixed on Preston who was shooting her bemoaning glares.

"Of course I do. However, the decisions are not in my hands, but yours."

"Give us ti," Marcella said.

Evelyn crossed gazes with Zayne for a mont. She looked away and breathed out, finger rubbing her temple.

"Fine. However, I do have sothing I’d like to say. Well, show, I suppose." She turned her gaze to the door, saying, "Co in."

The door pushed open and soone stepped in. Everyone diverted their gaze. It was a young lady, about the sa age as her, short blonde hair, a pair of grey eyes, and a slender body swathed in a midnight blue suit.

"Hello." The lady was amber, bowing slightly with a light smile on her lips.

Evelyn stood to her feet and approached Amber. She grabbed her hand and as she shook it, she leaned into her space, whispering, "Did you bring it?"

Amber’s smile widened. "Hell, yes. I’d never disappoint you like that."

Relief washed over Evelyn and with a smile, she pulled back. "Thank you." Then she inquired, "You’re aware of how to proceed, right?"

"Yeah, I can handle it."

She turned away, making her way back to her seat. Beside her stood Amber.

Taking a deep breath, she said, "So of you may be unaware, but for a while now, I’ve had a hit on which of course ans that a few of you within this room are more than just unhappy with my father’s decision."

Marcella furrowed her brows, and so did Roman and every other person within that room.

Preston however balled his fists, while Lyra looked as if she would burn her alive. Brandon rather held an unbothered expression, even though he seed to hold a little surprise in his eyes.

He couldn’t have been unaware right?

Evelyn’s brows furrowed.

There was no way Preston would call a hit on her and he’d be clueless about it.

"I could die tomorrow, maybe even today when I step out of this building. And there was only one thing I’d been able to think of doing."

They intently peered at her.

Evelyn’s expression fell as she mouthed, "Writing a will."

"What?!" Brandon snapped.

"Are you fucking crazy?" Preston questioned, tone hostile. "You can’t do that!"

"Don’t interrupt , Preston."

Preston shook where he stood, having never had her speak to him like that. "Are you talking to ? How dare you?"

She cocked an eyebrow. "We have an ongoing eting, and if you cannot behave yourself within this room, I’ll have you escorted out."

Lyra looked as though she were losing it.

Brandon was too stunned to even speak. He couldn’t find his words.

Preston clenched his hands. Everyone was staring at him, and that didn’t exclude Zayne Mancini who held that stupid condescending look on his face. Still, for the sake of the eting, he knew he had to control himself.

Exhaling in frustration, he sat back down, jaw ticking.

Evelyn smiled. "Please, let’s return to where we were."

"What do you an by a ’will’?" Marcella asked this ti around.

Evelyn responded, "Like I said, due to my life having been in danger for a while now, I’ve had no other choice but to write a will. Yes, my father stated in the legal docunt that I cannot give this corporation away to anyone, but it specified only when I’m alive. Which ans, a will is not against his rules. I’ve decided that in any event that I eventually lose my life, this corporation will only be given to one person and one person alone. Please, read the docunt, Amber."

Amber nodded, picking out the will.

"At Evelyn Veora Darkwood’s request, I will now read her will, which has been processed and approved by the court."

"What?" Brandon was confused. She couldn’t have possibly gotten a will processed and approved that fast in the span of a week, right? It made no sense.

Amber continued, "I, Evelyn Veora Darkwood, in the event of my death, or if I do not wake up alive under any circumstances, I leave the entirety of the Darkwood Group, TDG, to my Fiancé—"

Fiancé? Everyone was confused.

"—Zayne Mancini."

Instantly, everywhere fell deadly silent.

The look on Zayne’s face was pure indication that he was unaware of any of this.

Preston went as still as a statue, drowning in the shock of that mont.

Bradon’s expression fell.

And Lyra’s pupils dilated.

The shareholders glanced at each other, confused. Marcella chuckled. "What?"

"The will is as it’s been read," Amber said. "Ms. Darkwood’s signature is here, as well as the court’s—"

"What is the aning of this?" Preston slamd his hands on the table. "You can’t do this! This is unacceptable! Zayne Mancini? Are you kidding ? TDG belonged to , it was supposed to be mine. You don’t just sit there and give it off to him. Are you fucking crazy?"

Evelyn crossed her legs. "Your opinion doesn’t matter, Preston. You either accept my decision or nothing."

"Do you understand what you’re doing?" Brandon paused, debating how to control his temper. "Fine, father handed TDG to you, but if there is anyone who should inherit it right after you, it’s Preston. He is our eldest brother, the one who worked the hardest for this corporation. No offence to you Mr. Mancini," he said. "But you are still an outsider in this matter, and—"

"Might I remind you, that he owns twenty percent shares of this company?" Evelyn’s eyes darkened, tone laced with displeasure. "You own barely three percent of this company’s shares. Who do you think you are to call him an outsider in this matter?"
