Claudia POV

There were a few things I needed to do to escape the penthouse without alerting Ray.

This was the first ti I intended to do so, of course. But knowing Ray Gatlin and his insanity, he would’ve put so kind of alarm in place in case I dared to step out of that door.

Thus, I checked Jane’s ssages to get in touch with the apartnt manager. Since Jane told that she had to contact the building manager yesterday to clean up after Ray’s ss, it didn’t take long for to find it.

I couldn’t call them, of course. Because I had no way to mimic Jane’s squeaky young voice.

Thus, I simply texted them.

Jane: Manager, can you help disable the CCTV around the main door and in the corridor to the elevator?

And it didn’t take long for the building manager to text back. It seed that Ray held significant power in this building, which wasn’t surprising knowing how rich he was.

Building Manager: But why do you need to do that, Miss Jiang? Young Master told that we need to keep surveillance all the ti for that woman.

"Hmm, so even the building manager already knows about , huh?" I muttered while texting back. "Doesn’t she realize what Ray does has violated human rights?"

"Oh, what am I talking about? It’s Ray Gatlin I’m dealing with."

My mood soured thinking about Ray again before pressing the send button.

Jane: It’s a direct order from Mr. Gatlin. I don’t know what he wants. Maybe he wants to set her free?

Building Manager: Hahahaha! That’s impossible.

That last ssage threw off the loop. It was strange for a building manager to say sothing so... judgntal, as if she knew sothing about Ray that made it impossible for him to release .

Could it be that many people already knew how much he hated ? So they knew he wouldn’t let go even after a decade?

Nevertheless, I checked the CCTV near the main door and saw that the red dot inside the cara lens had been turned off, signaling that the building manager really did turn them off.

Now that the first step was done, I checked the ssages to see whether Jane had talked about my daughter’s new ward. Since Ray said that he had moved Aurora to a different ward to separate her from Clarissa, I assud it was Jane who handled the transfer.

But I didn’t find anything, and it was impossible to ask Ray about it or else he’d grow suspicious, so I racked my brain and ca up with a na.

I searched his contacts and then texted him.

Jane: Troy, do you still rember that bitch’s daughter’s new ward?

I used that bitch because I thought that was the most natural way for Jane to address when she wasn’t talking to Ray.

And just as I expected, he answered with a text.

Troy: Huh? You were the one who transferred her back then. Did you forget?

Jane: Uh-huh, I can’t be bothered recalling her details. But Mr. Gatlin is asking about it, and I don’t want to get scolded.

Troy: You shouldn’t make him angrier, got it? You’re already at odds with him. I’m afraid Mr. Gatlin will not be tolerant, especially since his mood has been very bitter these days.

Troy: Thankfully, I still rember the ward. It’s VIP Room number 3 on the fifth floor.

I smiled after getting the information that I needed.

Jane: Thank you, Troy. I owe you this one.

Troy: You can always pay back with a date. You know I’m always here if you need ... it’s better not to keep obsessing about Mr. Gatlin, since his heart has... never mind.

I raised my brows after getting this new information as well. I recalled the face of the military-cut young man at Don’s restaurant whom Ray ntioned to be his bodyguard and driver, and thought that he was pretty good-looking.

Maybe not as striking as Ray, but Jane shouldn’t lose out much with Troy.

I glanced at Jane, who was still out cold. "You already have a man who likes you so much, and still get obsessed over a crazy bastard like Ray Gatlin? Is this so kind of disease that affects young won and makes them fall in love with Ray?"

Though, I couldn’t really bla Jane for that, because when I was in university, Ray was truly the most strikingly handso man I had ever seen in my life—and still is... unfortunately.

The little girl in fluttered when seeing him, and I couldn’t control myself and beca crazy in love with him.

"He really is the bane of all young won, huh?" I sneered before putting Jane’s phone back on the table right next to her laptop.

It’d take a while for her to wake up, but I made sure that I wouldn’t harm her in any way with my thod just now.

"I’ll handle the fallout later. But right now, I have to et with my daughter, or I might go crazy," I said coldly while watching the unconscious Jane. "I’m sorry, Jane."

I turned around and left through the main door. Since I had no idea where Kael kept my car key, I had to get a taxi.

I also used paper money instead of the card that he gave , because I suspected that Ray was monitoring every purchase that I made, and I didn’t want him to be alerted so early.

As I hopped into the taxi, I told the driver to go to Oak-Sinar dical Centre and successfully left the apartnt.

Of course, I knew there was no way to actually get away from this scot-free.

The mont Jane woke up, she would call Ray, and it’d be a huge ss after that.

I didn’t give a damn even if I had to face Ray’s rage, because I had to see my daughter to ease the despair inside my heart.

I clenched the small knitted elephant doll in my hand and muttered,

"Wait for Mommy, Aurora..."
