Kelly’s POV
I was sitting in front of Klay. Beside was Pierce. We’re in our house and we called Klay here to talk about what we need to do. There was a series of deafening silence reigning us. There are so many things going on in my mind. I feel awkward. I was used to lashing out at Klay whenever I saw him and seeing him now, after everything, felt awkward.
Pierce cleared his throat. “We need your help.”
Pierce has always been ambitious and proud but he knows when to lower down his pride and that’s probably one of his traits that I like. He knows what to say and what to do at the right ti especially now that he’s matured enough to understand every point of view of the story.
Klay’s gaze remained on for a few seconds before he turned to Pierce. “I’m willing to do anything.”
“Connor Foster,” Pierce started as he sighed. “After everything that has happened. I know that he’ll plot sothing against Kelly.”
Klay’s forehead creased. “Did you know who Connor Foster is? Aside from being one of the cunning business tycoon, he’s an inactive mber of the triad.”
My forehead creased. “Triad?”
He nodded. “The illegal organization I belong to. My father’s mafia organization was protected and funded by the triad. This is a higher organization consisting of different powerful people in the whole world.”
I swallowed hard. “And...Connor Foster is a mber?”
“Inactive mber. That is why I couldn’t find evidence to turn him over to the authorities. He wasn’t active so he wasn’t seen in different illegal appointnts.”
I sucked my breath and looked at Pierce. So, staying quiet until now is a good choice for us. I didn’t know that. I dig so hard but I didn’t know that part of the truth...or maybe that’s what Luke found out that’s why he was killed and no one paid for it.
“He will need the triad’s help now,” Pierce said with a serious face. “He’s angry so he’ll plot sothing to harm Kelly. He’ll let his guard down because his family is falling apart.”
I nodded. “He’s right. His sons are slowly drifting away. He won’t let them so he’ll find a way to make them turn their back on . He might...fra up for sothing.”
“Let him fra you up,” Klay said and glanced at Pierce. “We’ll make it look like he’s succeeding and when he finally thinks he’s winning, we’ll drop the bomb on his face.”
“Won’t that be dangerous for Kelly? She’s pregnant, Carver.”
Klay’s lips parted as he looked at and swallowed hard. He cleared his throat and sighed before he slowly nodded.
“T-Then...keep them safe.”
Pierce looked at . His eyes were worried so I nodded at him because I trust that he’ll keep safe.
After the short eting with Klay, he imdiately left. I tried to make him stay even for the sake of our past since he took care of when I was still young and naive. He saved before and treated with care. I still value the good mories we had but I admit it couldn’t erase the bad things he did.
Klay insisted on leaving, leaving and Pierce alone in the house. The guards are scattered everywhere so I know we’re safe. Even Ana, Yara, and Mary have guards on their own, sent by Pierce.
I lay on the bed beside Pierce after taking a quick bath. He imdiately wrapped his arms around my waist and buried his face in my neck. I smiled as I rested my leg on his leg and hugged him like a baby.
“Goodnight, mommy and our baby,” he whispered as he kissed my hair.
I smiled and squeezed myself in his chest again. “Goodnight, daddy.”
We slept peacefully that night. I don’t know why even if there’s a huge ss circulating around and there was a threat in our lives especially mine, I found myself peacefully sleeping inside Pierce’s arms. Probably because I know that Klay is around and he will keep safe no matter what. Him and my husband will.
The next day, my peaceful sleep was interrupted by a loud bang on the door. Pierce, who was sleeping beside , imdiately sat on the bed and went to the door.
“Sir, Emily is missing.”
My whole system was awakened by that bad news. I imdiately got off the bed and stood in front of Pierce by the door.
“What do you an?”
He guard looked down. “I apologize, Mrs. Anderson. It was said that she sneaked out last night while everyone’s sleeping and she...uhm...put Mr. Matt Foster to sleep before she escaped.”
I pald my forehead and sucked my breath. Where did she go?
I imdiately took a quick bath before Pierce and I left to search for Emily. I also called Klay to help.
[She doesn’t rember?] Klay while I’m sitting on the passenger seat and talking to him over the phone.
Pierce was beside , driving while constantly looking around.
“She only rembers her past. Uhm...she ntioned about her dead fiance.”
I heard Klay heaved a sigh before he answered. [Go ho and rest. I think I know where she is.]
Hope filled my heart. “Really?”
Pierce glanced at and I smiled at him.
[Yes. I’ll go to her now and bring her back to the hospital. Just go ho. It’s not safe for you to roam around even when you have bodyguards and you have Anderson by your side.]
“Okay. Update again.”
After the call, I imdiately told Pierce about what I talked about with Klay. He was relieved too and we decided to go back ho. However, the tire of the car were riding suddenly explode. I panicked and scread in fear. The car almost rolled on the road if not for another car in front of us, blocking our way.
The ergency airbag did it’s job well since I didn’t feel anything hurting after the car stopped. I realized the car that blocked us in front was the car our guards are using. Another car stopped behind our car and that’s another set of bodyguards.
“Kelly, are you okay?” Pierce imdiately cupped my cheeks.
I nodded. “Yes–AH!” I scread and docked when a bullet went through the windshield of the car and got buried on the head rest of the driver seat.
My eyes widened as I looked at Pierce and he docked with , covering my whole body with his.
I grabbed his shirt, pulling him down with . “Pierce!”
“I’m fine.”
I shook my head and looked around. I saw our bodyguards outside and they’re searching for the shooter.
“AT THE BUILDING ROOFTOP!” One of the guards said and then half of them started chasing the shooter.
“Sir, ma’am, are you alright?”
Pierce opened the door of the passenger seat. I’m still scared but I went out too. Pierce grabbed my wrist and hide between the car and himself.
He looked down at . “Are you really okay? Weren’t you hurt? The baby?”
He caressed my stomach. For so reason, the warmth of his palm cald down.
“We’re okay.”
He sighed and nodded. “If they catch the shooter we’re not gonna turn him in to the police. I’ll have my n to interrogate him.”
I nodded. That’s the best thing to do because even the law cannnot ne trusted anymore.
