Kelly’s POV

We sent Pierce’s family and our Snow to the airport on the night after our wedding. I didn’t know why dad, Pierce’s father, wanted to leave imdiately. It’s probably because of the ss but I didn’t ask because I trust him.

“Bye, mommy. Bye, daddy.” Snow was so happy while waving at us. Pierce’s arm was wrapped around my waist with his hand against my stomach.

Dad was carrying Snow while they’re entering the airport terminal. I already feel sad just by the thought of my daughter sleeping without but I know this is for the best. I can’t keep her by my side when there’s a threat to our lives.

I felt Pierce kiss my hair after they disappeared from our sight.

“We’ll pick her up once this is over,” he whispered.

Actually, he wanted to leave too. He said it’s safer for and the baby in my tummy if we leave for another country but I don’t wanna leave him here. Besides, the enemy is my uncle. I have to bring him down on my own. To sohow give justice to my mother’s death.

“Let’s go,” I said to Pierce after I readied myself. We’re going to Emily’s condo tonight to talk about what happened.

Pierce drove silently while I’m silently sitting in the passenger seat. Pierce’s hand would either stay on my hand or on the gear stick. I’m thinking of a way to end this. I can’t just attack Connor Foster. I have to make him attack first because that’s the only way we could catch him lefthanded. He’s smart just like my mom, so I don’t think he would allow to discover the skeletons he’s been hiding in his closet. I need to...find that closet first and trigger him to open it for and because of what Emily did, I know Connor Foster will co after us.

When we reached Emily’s condo, I was shocked to see unfamiliar faces of n wearing black suits. They have earpieces in their ears and I realized they’re Emily’s bodyguards.

I found my good friend sitting on the couch waiting for us. I imdiately rushed to her and hugged her. I felt her stiffen but I tightened my hug more as I squeezed my eyes closed.

“What have you done?”

She shook her head and pulled away from the hug. She looked at and held my hand before her eyes landed on Pierce standing behind .

She sucked her breath and looked at again. “I’m sorry. I was...impulsive.”

I pulled her to seat. “Were you hurt? What happened? How did you find him?”

“I found him in a secluded place, Kelly. The guards looking after him are all dead. We...killed them.”

My lips parted in shock before my eyes wandered on her whole body. “How ‘bout you? Were you hurt?”

“No, I wasn’t. I have n to protect , Kelly. It was...Matt who’s hurt. He...protected when I was almost shot. I-I was so...scared.”

“How is he?”

“H-He’s in the bedroom.” Her voice cracked. “He got shot on his stomach.”

My forehead creased. “Why didn’t you bring him to the hospital?”

She shook her head. “My n were once part of an illegal organization, Kelly. They can’t be exposed to the authorities. Besides, I don’t trust the police.”

I pressed my lips together and swallowed. “I’m gonna check on Matt.”

She nodded. “He was already checked by a doctor I called here. The bullet has been taken out but he’s still in danger.”

I nodded and left her in the living area. I went straight to Emily’s bedroom and saw my cousin there, pale and sleeping with discomfort written on his face.

I walked towards him and slowly sat on the chair beside the bed. I can’t believe I’d see him in this situation. What happened to him? He was missing for a few days. Did his own father do this?

There was a burden in my heart while watching him. He’s my cousin, Connor Foster’s son, and if he was the one who made this happen, he can no longer be redeed. He’s the most evil person in the world. No doubt.

*** Pierce’s POV

“You didn’t give her the mory card?” Emily asked after Kelly entered the bedroom where her cousin is.

I walked towards her and put the mory card on the coffee table in front of her before I sat on the couch where Kelly sat earlier.

Emily’s eyes watched with sharpness. “What if I died today? What will you do? You still won’t give this to her?”

“If you die today, my wife will bla herself for not being able to stop you. Especially when you only want to save her cousin.”

Emily clenched her jaws. “Connor Foster was the one who did this. Matt told his own father abducted him and imprisoned him all because he discovered all the evil things he did. I can’t believe he did this to his son.”

I balled fists. “Are you willing to team up with , Emily?”

Her forehead creased as she stared at . “What do you an?”

“Connor Foster, Attorney Lee and the officer incharge of Kelly’s shooting case are our enemies.”

Her lips parted. “What do you an the officer? Are you saying he has a connection with Connor Foster and Attorney Lee?”

I shrugged my shoulders. “There’s a big possibility. I don’t know what kind of connection but I don’t think it involves money since the officer was born in a wealthy family.”

Emily squeezed her eyes closed and nodded. “We’ll help. I’ll use my father’s resources.”

I sighed in relief and nodded. “Thanks, Emily.”

“I’m doing this for Kelly and...Matt. “

I nodded and extended my arm to shake her hand. “For the alliance.”

She stared at my hand for a few seconds before she accepted and shook it. “For the alliance.”

“What alliance?”

I imdiately looked at the direction where the voice ca from. Standing a few ters away from us was Kelly with a creased forehead. I don’t know what she’s planning but whatever it is, I’ll support her as long as she’ll let get involved in her plans.
