Kelly’s POV

“She was shot and she’s pregnant. Please take care of her,” Pierce pleaded with the nurses when they gave us stretchers where Pierce gently laid .

The doctor imdiately attended us. My arm was bleeding heavily which scared Pierce more. He was pale when the doctors told him to stay outside the ergency room. I stared at him for a few seconds, giving him assurance that everything will be okay, before the door of the ergency room parted us completely.

I swallowed hard as I bit my bottom lip and endured the pain. I have to stay strong for the baby inside . I won’t die here.

“We’ll put you to sleep and start the surgery now, Mrs. We have to stop the bleeding and repair the damaged tissue. Please trust us and pray in your sleep.”

I nodded at the kind doctor before she ordered one of the nurses to give anesthesia.

Slowly, I drifted into a deep slumber, dragging to the dreamland where I saw myself, Pierce and our loved ones, happily bonding in a beautiful place with a lot of flowers.

*** Pierce’s POV

“Mr. Anderson!”

I lifted my face and looked at the police officer I was talking to before the shooting. His eyes examined my whole body and I realized my dress shirt was soaked with Kelly’s blood.

Blood. The blood of the woman I love. Seeing her bleeding scares the fck out of . Seeing her in the ergency room gives trauma. I don’t think I could ever live a normal life if sothing happens to her.

The officer slowed down as his lips parted. “Mr. Anderson was...shot?”

I sucked my breath and nodded. “Arm. She...bleeds...too much.”

I squeezed my eyes closed as the officer stood in front of and tapped my shoulders.

“The rider was caught on CCTV. I already sent our n to chase him.”

I clenched my jaws and looked him in the eyes. “Make sure that he won’t be able to escape this, officer. My wife and child are now in danger. We need to catch the person behind this. Whatever it takes, officer.”

He nodded. “We’re doing everything we can do, Mr. Anderson.”

“Pierce!”

I saw dad walking towards . He’s with Emily.

“Where’s Kelly?” Emily imdiately asked after she saw the blood on my dress shirt.

I swallowed hard and looked at the closed doors of the ergency room. I couldn’t answer, so I only looked at the door to answer her.

“She’s okay, right? It’s just a minor injury, right? Tell , Pierce!”

My lips parted and I was about to force myself to answer Emily when the door of the ergency room opened and the doctor ca out.

He imdiately removed his gloves and pulled his surgical mask down as I rushed to him.

“Doctor, how are they?”

“The bullet has been removed from her arm. She’s stable now and the baby’s fine too.”

I was able to breathe properly because of what I heard.

“Thank you... Thank you so much, doctor.”

I looked at dad. He tapped my shoulders and nodded at . “You saved them.”

For the very first ti, he comforted . I feel like I want to break down in front of him. I was so scared and those three words from him helped a lot. It ans a lot to .

I sucked my breath and licked my dried lips. I turned to the police officer again, with a more angry expression this ti.

“Update as soon as you catch the shooter, officer.”

“Of course, Mr. Anderson. I’ll go ahead for now.”

I looked at dad again. “Where’s my daughter, dad?”

“She’s with your mom and sister. Don’t worry about them. They’re safe.” His eyes remained emotionless but I get it now. He’s just like that. He actually cares but he’s not good at expression.

After Kelly was transferred to the private room, I stayed by her side while holding her hand. I was staring at her face. I even skipped lunch and dinner because I don’t wanna let go of her hand nor take my eyes off of her.

“If you don’t wanna eat, at least drink this.”

I lifted my face and looked at dad. He gave a cup of hot chocolate.

I sighed and accepted it without a word. He stood beside and tapped my shoulder.

Having a parent in this kind of situation helps calm down. I was panicking inside, but knowing that he’s here, I sohow feel fine.

“I know you’re scared. Use that to be smarter, Pierce. You are raised by a strong family. You have everything, every resource to resolve this problem.”

I lifted my face and looked at him. “I’m...gonna kill?”

He shook his head. “Killing is not always the best option. Attack them sowhere you have more advantage.”

I clenched my jaws. “Kelly already got their company and their other properties. She already has everything they can use against her.”

“A businessman always has a plan b, c, d and so on, Pierce. The alphabet was long. You don’t stop on one letter if you want to complete a word.”

I stared at him. “Can you please tell everything you know? You know sothing, dad. I always knew that. You knew that Kelly survived that night. You knew that Snow is my child. You know that we have a hidden enemy. I want to save my family, dad. But I can’t do it when I’m blind... I...I need your help...”

He looked at with those blank eyes. My dad was soft only to my mother. He always looks at with that kind of eyes, making doubt my real identity. But now I realized everything.

“You always have the truth in front of you, Pierce. You are just too kind to doubt it.”

My forehead creased. “What do you an?”

He tapped my shoulders again. “I’ll bring your mother, sister and daughter to another country. Snow will study there and we’ll take good care of her. After your wedding, we’ll fly abroad. I want you to resolve this thinking only about you and your wife. Don’t let kindness blind you. Not every gold is genuine.”
